Happy Easter Blossoms

Easter 4

Isn’t this an elegant Easter card?  Deb used a color scheme of Crumb Cake and Blushing Bride when she created this card.  The blooming branch from the Easter Blossoms stamp set is used again with the Crumb Cake image punched into 1” squares.  The 1 1/4” square punch is used for the Crumb Cake squares that frame the blossoms.  Deb used a different technique with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  Instead of embossing the entire Whisper White layer, she embossed 1 3/4” on each end – top and bottom.  Although this card is perfect to use for Easter, a birthday, anniversary, or other message could be used.  In fact, instead of a stamped message, Blushing Bride ribbon would be perfect running thru the center section embellished with an elegant bow.

This is the final card scheduled for our Just a Wee Big O’ Green Stamp Camp this weekend.  The charge is $10.00.  Hours are Friday, March 2 from 4 PM – 9 PM and Saturday, March 3 from 9 AM – 4 PM.  Feel free to give me a buzz or drop an E-mail with any questions/concerns.  The April Spring Flowers Stamp Camp will be held the second weekend of the month as Easter falls on the first weekend.  Mark your calendar for April 13th and 14th.

Easter Blossoms with a Wee Bit O’ Green

My challenge this past weekend was to design an Easter/spring card that featured the new framelets Labels Collection and stayed within the Wee Bit O’ Green theme.  The card I came up with stayed within my guidelines.  What do you think?

Easter girl and envelope I used the lovely Easter Blossoms set from 2011.  Even though it is retired, it is one of my favorites.  The color scheme of Tempting Turquoise and Pear Pizzazz gives a breath of spring which I really need!  I used the large label die from the Label’s Collection but only put the top part of the Whisper White cs under the cutting edge – the bottom part of the cs remained on top of the cutting edge.  The result is the lovely curves you see above.  I have pre-cut all the front pieces with the label dies and have pre-stamped the blossom branch with Jet Black StazOn.  As we will be using the blossom branch image for our 4th card , I wanted to prevent any black residue on the stamp.  The blossoms are colored with Tempting Turquoise, Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz markers.  A small amount of Twitterpated Designer Series Paper and Pear Pizzazz pleated ribbon carries thru our Wee Bit O’ Green theme.  Note how elegant the blossom branch appears on the envelope.  Stampers at our Stamp Camp this weekend will have the opportunity to use the new Labels Collection for the inner card message.  Note the two samples below.Inside SmallInside large

We generally use the Top Note die for the inner card message when the card itself is a darker color.  Now we have another option!  As the label dies come in assorted sizes, we can die cut our label small, medium or large for our card message.

Hope you can join us this weekend for our Wee Bit O’ Green stamp Camp this coming weekend.  If you plan on coming, drop me a quick E-mail as it helps plan on cutting paper.  However, you are more than welcome even if you don’t send an E-mail as we always have sufficient kits prepared.  Give me a call if you have any questions!  Blessings, Rosemary – 630.759.3089, paperrose01@aol.com

A Wee Bit O’ Green Bordering on Romance

Yellow blossoms 3Again honoring St. Patrick’s Day with the color GREEN, we see the new Set Bordering on Romance (current mini) done in Lucky Limeade and Daffodil Delight.  Water Color crayons and a blender pen add the perfect touch of color with pearls used to highlight the blossom centers.  The scallop border punch, perfect polka dot embossing folder,  and Crushed Curry polka dot ribbon add more interest to this delightful card.  This is one of those simple creation that works for any occasion – birthday, anniversary, get well, Easter, thinking of you, etc.  Plan on joining us for the upcoming Wee Bit O’ Green stamp camp on March 2nd and 3rd and this is one of the 4 cards you will be making .  The cost for this stamp camp will be $10.00.

I suddenly realized I have never posted the first 6-month calendar for 2012, so I am including it below.  Please note the the April Spring Flowers Stamp Camp will be held the second week of the month as Easter falls on the first weekend.

Tool Tip of the Day

I picked up this clever tip from Patty Bennett, A Stampin’ Up demonstrator in California.  I know how much you love your Stampin’ Up! punches! Here’s a twist on using your Scallop Border punch as a tool to create a wavy card stock strip which will in turn add a unique embellishment to your paper projects.
Step 1: Take an Old Olive strip of card stock and stamp using Old Olive ink and a floral or other loose design stamp.

Step 2: Punch one edge of the stamped strip using the Scallop Edge Border punch clip_image002
Step 3: Turn card stock strip around and insert back into punch making sure to offset the scallops. Punch to create a wavy card stock strip!

You can see the end result below.  Pretty clever way to form a wavy scallop strip without purchasing another punch.  Note the design image on the strip.

Just a Wee Bit O’ Green

As we approach the March “Just a Wee Bit O’ Green” Stamp Camp, it is time to honor the color GREEN.  In my 11 years as a florist, green was never considered a color as it was just part of all plants and flowers.  If you observe nature, green is the most common color as we see it in grass, trees and flowers.  Green is considered a calming influence to the human psyche.  So in honor of St Patrick’s Day, let’s make a card or two featuring the color GREEN!

March bird 6This friendly card features Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, and the “Friends 24/7” stamp set.  I love the message “The HAPPIEST business in the world is that of making FRIENDS” written by Anne S. Eaton.  Deb highlighted this card with the neat textured Chocolate Chip ribbon that was featured in the Holiday Mini.  She also added 2 Lucky Limeade sparkling brads to add a bit of added interest and glimmer to the card.  The ink color is Early Espresso which is a darker brown than the Chocolate Chip, and shows up well. This card can be used for a birthday, thinking of you, or plain old “Just Because.”

The March “Just a Wee Bit O’ Green” Stamp Camp will be held the first weekend of March – Friday March 2nd from 4 PM to 9 PM, and Saturday March 3rd from 9 AM to 4 PM.  My goal for March is a 2-hour stamp camp – in and out in 2 hours or less (unless you want to spend time chatting, problem solving, etc.)  My next blog will be a tool tip, so if you’re not in a hurry at stamp camp, maybe we can try out this clever tip. More cards to come.  Blessings, Rosemary – 630-759-3089, paperrose01@aol.com

Scrappy Valentine

Finally – a creative way to use some of those little scraps of designer paper you have laying around.  All you need is bits and pieces of designer paper, a 1” square punch, and the Top Note die.  Here’s the result:Friend to friend 1Be my valentine 1

SCRAPPY VALENTINE CARDS!

As Debbie said when she saw these cards, “Mother, these are SO PINK AND RED!”  I will admit this scrappy valentine is very pink and red, but then VALENTINES DAY is just around the corner.  I started with 20 – 1” squares of assorted pinky/reddish designer paper.  I glued these on in neat rows on a 5 X 4” piece of card stock.  This card stock does not show, so you can use any 80# cs you have.  After adhering the 1” squares securely, I ran the colorful cs through the Big Shot with the Top Note die.  Next, I ran the cut Top Note through the Big Shot with the Hound’s-tooth  (friend to friend card) or Square Lattice (Be my valentine card) embossing folders.  I ran some thin ribbon around Melon Mambo cs and attached the layer to a Regal Rose card.  I used Sticky Strip to adhere the top note to the card front and added a small banner with the sentiment.  The banner was gently curled with the bone folder and attached with glue dots.  A button and red rhinestones were used to embellish the banner on one card, and a brad and pearls on the other card.  I added a little white bow, 3 hearts and trim from the new Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies.  Of course, this card could be made in any color scheme for any occasion.

So you’ve seen all 4 of our projects for the Hearts and Flowers Stamp Camp this weekend.  You’ve seen the end result using some of the items in the new Mini so plan on stopping and using these new tools.  Hours for Friday February 3rd are 4 – 9 PM, and for Saturday February 4th , 9 AM – 4 PM.  See some of the Sale-A-Bration specials, and spend some time creating.  Give me a call if you have any questions, and if you can, let me know which day you will be coming.  Stay safe and warm!

Blessings, Rosemary (630-759-3089)
