HELLO!

OK – I’ll admit it.  I’ve had some typos in my recent blogs.  I’ve heard from my chief husband critic, other family members, and even from you!  I can’t go back and make changes, but to clarify:  Our next stamp camp is NOT in November – it is this coming Friday and Saturday – February 1st and 2nd.  We are doing 4 cards and the cost is $10.  Card #1 features a First Edition DSP heart.  Card #2 is the Quilt card.  #3 is the Blossom Punch card.  The last card is right here!  I’ve entitled this the HELLO card!01.26.2013 Hello

01.26.2013 Hello better

HELLO is a colorful card done in Island Indigo and Rich Razzleberry.  The top view features the Vine Street embossing folder found in the Sale-A-Bration promotion.  The Designer Series Paper is the free Sycamore Street DSP also featured in the Sale-A-Bration promotion.  Framelits from the new “The Hearts a Flutter” collection makes cutting the hearts and banner a whiz.  The matching Rich Razzleberry ribbon can be shown with dots face up or to the back.  By using the HELLO from the new “Oh, Hello” stamp set, this card can be used for any occasion.  It would be perfect for Valentine’s Day, but hearts are universal and perfect for birthday, anniversary, thinking of you, etc.  The HELLO image comes as OH, HELLO.  When I mounted the image, I cut it into 2 stamps so it could be used as OH, HELLO, or simply as HELLO.

Check back tomorrow.  I am trying to post information with an image about Stampin’ Up’s exclusive “Best of 25 Years” stamp set offering!  I’ve been having some computer challenges with posting the images.  This set changes monthly but all of the Best of sets will be available until March 31, 2014.

As a special incentive to collect the Best of stamps, starting in February Stampin’ Up will be including a collector’s card and 25-year proof of purchase sticker with every Best of set. Collect six stickers, and send it in to redeem a FREE set of your choice valued up to $14.95! Free sets must be redeemed no later than April 30, 2014.  The January set is $14.95.  Perhaps the best thing for now would be to have you:

I love the negative space flower formed by the Blossom Punch on the Whisper White cs,  Floral District DSP is featured in the flower shape.  Any occasion image can be  stamped on the simple banner tag.  Debbi designed this card and added two small  punched flowers.  If you are into hearts and flowers, you could even add a heart to either card.  Embossed polka dots adds texture to the Whisper White mat.

This is card #3 of the 4 cards we will be making at our November Stamp Camp – Friday, November 1st from 4 PM – 9 PM and Saturday, November 2nd from 9 AM – 4 PM.  Debbi came over today and she and I cut all the paper for this stamp camp.  We are ready – are you?  We would love to see you.  The cost is $10.00.  If you can’t make the stamp camp, but would like  to order a kit, please let me know as soon as you can.  If possible, we like to have the kits done before stamp camp.  Check back tomorrow for card #4.

Is it a Quilt or a Card?

This card was FUN to make.  Baja Breeze, Primrose Petals, and Very Vanilla was the color scheme.  12 postage stamp punched squares form the “quilt.”  The key to giving the quilt lots of interest, is to carefully mix the DSP squares.  That was the fun part!

I ended up with 4 samples – 2 Happy Birthday samples and 2 Valentine samples.  If you look at the picture to the right, you can see the embellishments that were added.  I call this “stepping up to the next level” as we made a faux bow held together with a button, added a hat pin, and made a folded Happy Birthday banner.  I also did the same card but with simpler embellishments consisting of a bow and a smaller Happy Birthday tag; this version is shown below as the Valentine “quilt” card.  Note the Valentine embellishment close up – still attractive, but simpler than the “stepping up to the next level” version.

The Designer Series Papers used for the “quilts” were “Tea for Two” for the Birthday card, and “More Amore” for the Valentine card.  At the February Stamp Camp, you will have your choice as to which card you do – birthday/any occasion or Valentine – and – simple embellishments or “step it up” embellishments.  The choice is yours!  Let’s spend a few minutes learning about Paper Pumpkin.
