Let’s Swing with a Swing Card!

They’ve been called flip cards, flip flop cards, swing cards, and more-but they have always been a bit tricky to create. Not anymore! The Stampin’ Up amazing new Thinlits Card Dies cut and score to create a card that flips in just one step.

Festive Flurry SeptThis is the flip card we will be creating at the October Stamp Camp.  This Christmas card features the Festive Flurry Stamp Set and matching dies.  The color scheme of silver, white, Pool Party and Island Indigo is subtle yet showy.  Winter Frost Designer series Paper (DSP) overlays the Island Indigo card stock and carries through the Festive Flurry design.  A silver glimmer scalloped circle is the sparkly background for the indigo snowflakes.  I absolutely love the Frosted Finishes Embellishment that sparkles in the snowflake center.

This is a view of the open Festive Flurry swing card.  Note the lined envelope featuring the new Envelope Liner Framelits Die (page 37 in the Holiday Happiness catalogue).  You can see how the circle flips from the Festive Flurry snowflakes to the Merry Christmas message.  So, how do we make this card?

Circle thinlits dieThis is the Circle Thinlits Die.  It is not found in the catalogs, but can be viewed on the Stampin’ Up website.  But wait – there is more!  The die includes accessory thinlit dies.

This view shows the accessory dies that are included with the Circle Thinlits Die set.  The scallop circle die was used to cut the silver glimmer scallops we see on the front of our Christmas card found above.

So what does our actual card look like before the DSP and embellishments are added?

The view on the left shows the card stock after it has been run thru the Big Shot with the Circle Thinlits Die.  The circle cut and the score lines are quite faint.  The view on the right shows the card stock as it is being folded on the score lines.  Note how the circle can be viewed from the closed and the open views.

This is just one of the cards we will be creating at the October Stamp Camp on October 3rd from 2 – 9 PM, Oct 4th from 2 – 9 PM and Oct 5th from 9 AM – 4 PM.  Please note that if you need to come earlier on any of those days, just let me know and I will be able to accommodate you.  We are also doing 3 absolutely cute Halloween cards, and a dryer sheet Christmas card.  This is a stamp camp you will not want to miss.  5 cards – $12.00.

On a personal note, I will be having bariatric surgery on Monday, October 7th.  I am having a sleeve gastrectomy at Silver Hospital.  The hospital stay is generally 2 days.  I will keep you posted on my recovery, and don’t feel this will affect our November Stamp Camp.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  Blessings, Rosemary – 630-759-3089 – paperrose01@aol.com
