Birthday Basics

Deb HB 2Our fourth card for the June Stamp Camp features the colorful Birthday Basics DSP.  Deb designed this card and gives you the choice of the candle or the party hat DSP.  The “happy BIRTHDAY” message is stamped in Jet Black StazOn and color with Stampin’ Write markers that match the DSP.  Two strips of Raspberry Ripple ribbon frame the birthday greeting.  The “Celebrate” image comes from the Starburst Sayings stamp set and has been die cut with a small  Starburst Framelit.  We added a few candy dots to the party hat DSP for a bit of extra pizzazz.

Birthday Cake imageThe inside of the Birthday Basics card features the Birthday Cake stamp which retired today.  I like this stamp as it can be used to celebrate a birthday for any age group.  The birthday cake was stamped in Jet Black StazOn and die cut with a banner framelit.  Gold Stickles add a glow to the birthday candles.  The actual cake portion of the image was stamped a second time in Raspberry Ripple on white cs, cut out, and adhered over the original black–stamped cake.  The birthday cake banner was then sponged in Raspberry Ripple and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Deb HB envelopesAs a final touch for this cute card, 6 X 6 Birthday Basics DSP has been cut so you can run the Envelope Liner Framelit thru the Big Shot and have an instant colorful lined envelope!

I hope you can attend the June Stamp Camp this week.  Dates/times are:  Thursday and Friday, June 5 and 6, from 2 to 9 PM; and Saturday, June 7 from 9 AM to 4 PM.  If these dates and times don’t work for you, let me know, and we can work out an alternate time.  If  you prefer to purchase the kit, give me a call or send an E-mail and I will have it ready for you to pick up.  The cost for the Stamp Camp or the kit is $12.00 which includes everything you need to make your cards.  Also, remember to pick up your new 2014-2015 Stampin’ Up Inspire,Create, and Share catalog.  The catalog is full of ideas for your paper crafting pleasures.

We will not have Stamp Camp in July.  I’ve found in the past that many folks are on vacation during July so I will use this time to re-do my craft room and plan fun things to make for the remainder of 2014.  Stamp Camp will resume on August 7, 8, and 9 and I already have some “WOW” ideas!  When the new Blendabilities markers become available, I will let everyone know.  I plan on blending/coloring with them in the next few days and will let you know how it goes.

Wetlands

Wetlands is another one of those stamp sets I am in love with.  This set is perfect for masculine cards and does not retire this year.  Speaking of retiring, don’t forget to pick up your 2014-2015 Stampin’ Up Catalogue at the June Stamp Camp, or stop by and pick one up.  Remember, I don’t charge for these catalogues and they offer great ideas even if you never choose to purchase from them.

Last month we used the acrylic blocks to color our background card stock.  This month, we are going to follow the same method, but use 2 colors and different card stock.

Wetlands 1 This stamp set features the goose, tufts of grain, baby ducklings, and 3 messages – a thank you, birthday, and thinking of you.  All this for only $16.95!  We will be using this set again in August for another masculine card.  In this card, the images were stamped in StazOn, on the cs after the inks had dried. The scene was then layered with black and the new Hello Honey cs.  Retiring Modern Medley DSP sets the background for our scene – note the birds flying toward the sky.  The overall black and vanilla card has color only in the Baja Breeze/Wild Wasabi stamped background, and the small amount of Hello Honey cs.  The 2 yellow brads at the bottom corner of the flying birds DSP helps the eye follow the small amount of color from left to right.

Wetlands envelopes 1As the Modern Medley DSP is almost retired, and we are looking for masculine appeal, I decided this would be a great time to use lined envelopes in the black and vanilla color scheme.  Lined envelopes make a great presentation and are so easy to create thanks to the wonderful envelope liner framelits.

This is the third card we will be making at the June Stamp Camp on June 5, 6, 7.  If you know you might be short on time, please let me know, and I will have the more time consuming parts of the cards pre-done for you.  If you can’t attend, you might consider getting the kit.  For this card, the kit would include all the DSP, card stock, yellow brads, liner and envelope, plus the duck scene would be stamped for you.  This is a great way to keep yourself in handmade cards!

Give me a call or send me an E-mail if you have any questions regarding the upcoming stamp camp or any paper-crafting concern.  Blessings, Rosemary – 630/759-3089 – paperrose01@aol.com
