February Iris Folding

I thought you might be interested in seeing the Iris Folding cards I will be offering thru the Bolingbrook Park District on Wednesday evening, January 28th.  If you know of someone who might be interested, or if you might like to try this beautiful art form, check it out at  Iris Paper Folding

Iris Folding 2I love the contrast of the red, black, and gold in this card.  I used red foil, gold foil with a beautiful sheen finish, and red crepe paper.  I also used a simple patterned gold foil that forms a very thin line above the crepe paper folds.   A single rhinestone signifies the center of the heart.  The letters are backed with black foil.  I spattered a bit of red marker on the background and added a single gold foil heart.  The embossed red layer shows up nicely on the black card and is highlighted with 2 small gold hearts and the gold foil message.  This was a fun card.

Iris Folding 1The heart on this card features a silver and pink washi paper, dark pink foil, and light pink washi paper edged in silver foil.  The dark pink foil is very attractive but the camera did not capture it well.  The pink and rose red card is highlighted with designer paper in shades of pink.  Hearts in silver and designer paper surround the featured heart.  I am waiting for a delivery of silver foil Happy Valentines Day messages which will look cute on this card.

Iris Folding 3I thought it would be nice to mix a Happy Birthday card in with the Valentine ones and chose this cute little mouse.  Mr. Mouse is much cuter than depicted by the camera.  Lavender and orchid foils were layered on Mr. Mouse.  Lavender washi and glitter papers were also used.  A silver Happy Birthday message was added and a silver foil present was placed at the fingertips of Mr. Mouse.  Finally, a lavender glitter balloon and 3 eggplant candy dots embellish the card.  Mr. Mouse was layered on eggplant card stock , with wisteria and plum designer paper.  This is a darling card for anyone – adult or child.

If you, or anyone you know, are interested in making these cards, let me know, or check out the Park District link at Iris Paper Folding.

Dear Valentine–Part II

Wood You Be Mine?

Wood you be mine 1

I love this card!  Complete with log chunks, this card is perfect for the man in your life – your Dad, hubby, boyfriend, brother, uncle, neighbor.  Keeping with the Calypso Coral and Real Red color theme, this Valentine card has DSP – again from the Love DSP Stack, logs cut from some “antique” DSP, and the cutest lumberjack ever.  Blendabilities quickly add color to the lumberjack , and background trees place our guy deep in the forest.  The addition of Calypso Coral ribbon and a few hearts give a soft touch.  I must admit, however, that the red glitter heart is placed as it is for a very good reason – a smudge of Early Espresso that was the result of dirty fingertips!  Alas, I remembered our motto – when you have a lemon, make lemonade.  So, I grabbed my small heart punch, some red glitter paper, and behold – the smudge is now WELL HIDDEN!  Everyone will enjoy making this cute card at February Dear Valentine Stamp Camp.

By now, creating 4 cards using my Love DSP Stack, I had quite a few bits and pieces of designer paper.  Wanting to be “green”, I developed our final project for the Dear Valentine Stamp Camp.

2015-01-19 2015-01-19 001 025A double treat box seemed like the perfect way to use scraps of DSP.  These Tiny Treat Boxes are perfect for candy or other little goodies for special people.  The boxes are inexpensive – 25 for $6.95.  They construct easily and are very sturdy.  Plus, each panel is easily decorated with a 1 3/4 inch square of DSP.  Although I have connected the two boxes in the past with sticky strip, I chose to leave these boxes attached only with the sturdy grosgrain ribbon.  I added one of the darling bows made with DSP and the new Bow Builder Punch, stamped Happy Valentines Day on Whisper White CS, die cut the message, sponged it in red and attached it with a cute little gold colored clothespin.  Isn’t this a cute idea?

Now that you’ve seen all 4 projects for the February Dear Valentine Stamp Camp, aren’t you ready to come on over and start the fun?  I hope you can make it.  The dates and hours are:  Thursday February 5th from 2 – 9 PM; Friday February 6th from 2 – 9 PM; and Saturday February 7th from 9 AM to 4 PM.  The cost remains the same as 2013 – $12.00, and includes all materials and tools you will need.

REMEMBER – Free DSP if you let me know by January 26th that you are coming.  The Love DSP Stack is too cute and this is a great way to get it at no extra cost to you.  Don’t forget about Sale-A-Bration.  Give me a call if you have any questions!

Dear Valentine

3 Color FoxThe 2015 Paperrose01 Blog is back in business!  I hope everyone had a peaceful and joyous holiday.  I am simply happy it is over, the decorations have been packed away, and life has returned to semi-normal.  However, Valentine’s Day will be here in less than 1 month!  Remember to let me know by January 26th if you will be attending the February Dear Valentine Stamp Camp on February 5, 6, and 7 so I will have time to order and receive your free Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack.  You will use the DSP for your Dear Valentine cards and treat box.  You can mix and match however you wish and have lots of DSP left to take home!

Before we look at the Dear Valentine projects, I want to share two cards my husband and I received from one of our granddaughters.  We had given the Stampin’ Up Everyday Occasions Cardmaking Kits to several of our granddaughters as part of their Christmas.  Aren’t these cute?

Jailyn 01    Jailyn 02

I love all the embellishments that are included in the Stampin’ Up kits.   This particular kit even includes an acrylic block for the included stamps.   If you are looking for a gift for a child or an adult you think might be interested in stamping, this would make a wonderful present.

The next cards are part of our Dear Valentine Stamp Camp.  As you will see, the style is the same for all 3 cards.  The only thing that differs is the DSP combination and the focal point stamp.  The color scheme of Real Red. Whisper White, and Calypso Coral is the same foe each card.  For your card, you will choose your DSP and any of the available focal point stamps.  You can copy one of my cards, or create one that is very different from mine.

3 Color Fox    3 Color Bird    3 Color Heart

Each card has 3 different styles of DSP from the Stacked with Love DSP Stack.  I also used Baker’s twine – either gold or white – on each card.  The focal point is highlighted on a red glitter starburst and Calypso Coral circle.  Blendabilities were used to color the 2 stamps from the Hey Valentine set.  The heart from the Language of Love set was stamped in Real Red.  Valentine stamps from previous years will also be available for you to use.

Our next card for the February Dear Valentine Stamp Camp is entitled  Happy Heart, and uses the new Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  For $7.95, this is a great investment and can be used for many occasions throughout the year.

Heart EmbossI used a Rose Red and Pink Pirouette color combination with this card.  I love the texture that the Happy Heart embossing folder provides.  The new Confetti Heart Border Punch was used on a piece of rose cs and the resulting tiny hearts were scattered among the larger pink hearts.  A bit of 1/8 inch silver ribbon and a silver glitter banner add some bling.  Finally, a DSP heart from the Love DSP Stack is popped up and the cute “BE MINE” message from the You Plus Me stamp set is stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  This card is perfect for a friend or loved one.

Sale-A-Bration is currently taking place for Stampin’ Up thru March 31st.  This is an annual occurrence and is quite simple – you choose one free Sale-A-Bration product for every $50 you spent (before tax and shipping).  Get those products you’ve been wanting, and earn more for free at the same time.  This is a great time to replenish your paper and ink supplies.  And have you looked thru the Occasions Catalog that is current thru June 2nd?  Now is the time to buy from this catalog while taking advantage of the Sale-A-Bration items.  You can view the Occasions Catalog at Winter/Spring Occasions Catalog and the Sale-A-Bration products at Sale-A-Brations Catalog

I hope you are enjoying this short spurt of weather as much as I am!  I would LOVE weather that never dropped below freezing!  Don’t forget to let me know about February Stamp Camp so you can get your free DSP stack and remember to check out the Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Brations catalog.  I will be posting the remaining two Dear Valentine projects later today.
