Birthday Blossoms Scallop Square Swing Card

2015-08-30 2015-08-30 001 001The die for this fun swing card is one of my recent Zulilly online purchases.  The only caveat I discovered after receiving the die, was that it is a 5” square card and would not fit in the standard A2 envelope.  I resolved that issue by folding the longer side of the card back 1” so that the card easily fits the standard card envelope.  The Pretty Petals DSP Stack has the vibrant butterfly DSP that is used on this card.  The tiny butterflies are in Old Olive, Mint Macaroon (new), Pacific Point, and Calypso Coral.  The flowers featured on the scallop square that swings to the front are from the Birthday Blossoms set , stamped in Calypso Coral, punched out with the pansy punch, and sponged heavily in Calypso Coral.

2015-08-30 2015-08-30 001 005The fussy cut leaves are stamped in Old Olive on Mint Macaroon.  Assorted embellishments are available to use in flower centers.  Although Candy Dots are shown in the view above, the other sample features the White Perfect Accents that I colored blue with a Sharpie.  Rhinestones would also look great!  Happy Birthday is one of 3 messages that can be die cut in Pacific Point and adhered to the front.

The scallop square that swings to the back carries our message stamped in either Pacific Point or Old Olive on Mint Macaroon.  Several tiny flowers are stamped in Calypso Coral and fussy cut.  Assorted butterflies are precut from the Embosslits Beautiful Wings and adhered to carry the butterfly theme from front to back.  Although not shown in these images, the back 1” flap features the multi-colored butterfly DSP.

As I look back on the 4 cards we will be doing for September Stamp Camp, I realize there are NO BOWS!!!!!  Two of the cards utilize ribbon in a simple straight line.  I’m sure several of you are happy about the “bow-less” cards.  As a reminder, September Stamp Camp is 2-9 PM on the 3rd and 4th, and 9 AM – 4 PM on the 5th.  The cost for the 4 cards is $12.00.  If you are unable to attend and would prefer picking up a kit, please give me advance notice. I want you to enjoy crafting – have fun, be creative, and relax!  If you know what day you will be attending, it’s helpful if you give me a heads-up, but certainly  not required.

Looking ahead, the October Stamp Camp will be held October 1, 2, and 3 and will feature Leaves, Ghosts, & Christmas.  I am quite excited as we will be doing some super cards.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Flower Pedals

The third project for our September Stamp Camp features a field of wild flowers and a bicycle.  The outer message reads “As you pedal down the busy highway of life, take time to enjoy the flowers.”

2015-08-30 2015-08-30 001 003I pulled retired Barely Banana cs out of my archives for this card and paired it with the new Watermelon Wonder.  I haven’t decided exactly where Watermelon Wonder falls – is it a red?  is it an orange?  On this card, it certainly looks orange!  The borders are punched with the eyelet scallop border punch – one of the retired punches hidden deep in one of my punch drawers.  I thought a bicycle would be appropriate for the wildflowers as we tend to rush rush rush through life and often ignore the beauty around us.  The DSP came from a big box store and the “On the Go” stamps and thinlits are from Hero Arts.  Although it is hard to see in this picture, there is a shiny purple seat and handlebars – the result of Elegant Eggplant cs and Crystal Effects.

2015-08-30 2015-08-30 001 004The inside area of the card is limited for the message.  I chose a message that could be easily be used for a birthday or thinking of you.  The set also includes a simple message that reads “Have a Great Day.”

This is the third of the four cards we will be making at our September Stamp Camp.  I fashioned this card to show what you can do when you don’t have a full 8 1/2” for the standard 8 1/2 X 5 1/2” card.  Before the border punch, the cs measured 7 1/2 X 5 1/2.  Sometimes you just need to think out of the box when you discover your cs is not quite the size you need, or you can’t find the embellishment you really want to use.

I hope you can make it to our September Stamp Camp.  If a kit works better for you than coming to make all the cards, just give me a jingle ahead of time.  As always, I provide all your supplies.  The cost is $12 and the days and times are our normal:  2-9 PM on the 3rd and 4th, and 9 AM – 4 PM on the 5th.  Check back later today to see the last card – a swing card.  Give me a call if you have any questions.

Clouds and Rainbows

Angel 1 007This is one of my new most favorite sets titled ‘”Over the Rainbow.”  I also love that this set is photopolymer!  There are several really nice messages with this set such as “God gives us RAINBOWS to remind us of hope,” “The SKY’S the LIMIT,” ”Keep looking up…there may be a (rainbow) waiting for you,” and the one used here – “You are the GOLD at the end of the (rainbow).”  I cut an assortment of Soft Sky clouds on my electronic cutter and added  cloud markings with a Marina Mist marker.  The rainbow is stamped in Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist and Wisteria Wonder.  The red card sets off these cheerful colors perfectly.

Angel 1 004The word RAINBOW” is stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento and the letters are colored in with my remaining Blendabilities – Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Bermuda Bay, Night of Navy, and Wisteria Wonder.  If you prefer your own markers, please feel free to bring them.  I colored a White Perfect Accent for the “dot” over the “I” on one sample, and used a metal rimmed pearl embellishment on the other sample.  A larger rhinestone could also be used.  The choice us up to you.

This is the second of four cards we will be making at our September Stamp Camp.  Dates and times for this stamp camp are our normal – 2-9 PM on the 3rd and 4th, and 9 AM – 4 PM on the 5th.  The cost for the 4 cards is $12.00.  If you are unable to attend and would prefer picking up a kit, please give me advance notice so I have time to put your kit together.  The kit cost remains $12.00.  If you know in advance you will be running on tight time constraints, I can prep your sets if I know ahead of time.  My goal is for you to have a fun, creative and relaxing crafting time!

Let me know if you have any questions!

The Littlest Angel

I’m afraid to ask how many days until Christmas!  Would you believe only 116!  It’s time to start preparing for the approaching festive occasions – Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.  I thought September would be a great time to craft our first Christmas card for 2015.

Angel 1 001I’ve entitled this card “Littlest Angel on a Starry Christmas Night.”  With a color theme of Night of Navy and gold, the background is embossed in Lucky Stars with some of the raised stars and the card edges lightly sponged in silver.  I just received the chalk ink, and you may prefer sponging with chalk instead of silver.  The circle Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum is shown here, but the gold patterns used will vary.  Although I have vellum adhesive, I prefer not to use it and have held the vellum securely in place with glue dots placed under the gold areas.

Angel 1 006The Littlest Angel is created from several punches/thinlits.  Can you find the tree, heart, arrow, circles and owl punched pieces?  The two butterfly thinlits?  The halo is formed with gold cording.  The angel can hold a gold or white glimmer star.  I chose to use simple messages on the inside and outside layers and added a die cut Merry Christmas Thinlit at the bottom.

This is the first of four cards we will be making at our September Stamp Camp on the 3rd, 4th and 5th.  Times will be the same:  2-9 PM on the 3rd and 4th, and 9 AM – 4 PM on the 5th.  You can choose the day and time that works best for you.  It is helpful to let me know ahead if time if you plan on coming, but it is by no means a requirement.  The cost remains $12.00 and covers all supplies – all you need to bring is yourself!  Check back soon to see the next blog post on Clouds and Rainbows.

By the way, did you receive your Stampin’ Up Christmas Catalog?  If not, stop by and pick one up!  This is one of the best catalog’s Stampin’ Up has put out in several years and is guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit!!!

CHIC & STYLISH: The Perfect Rose

Many of you will remember the Fifth Avenue Floral stamps – almost as popular as the Lovely as a Tree set.  However, Lovely as a Tree is still current while Fifth Avenue Floral has retired.  I decided to resurrect the rose image from Fifth Avenue Floral for our Chic & Stylish Stamp Camp.

010  009

Although these samples appear to be done in black and white, they are actually done in Blackberry Bliss and white.  The blackberry is so dark that at this size, the color appears black.  Both samples feature a Whisper White Thick card base layered with Blackberry Bliss and Whisper White.  An embossing border highlights the top of the card and a border punch highlights the bottom front.  Blackberry Bliss ribbon is used on one sample and the single rose is stamped in the same color.  Two larger pearls are colored with the Dark Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities and added to give the cards depth.  Of course you can create your Perfect Rose card however you wish.  The supplies will be out but you provide the creativity.

I hope you can attend the August Stamp Camp and make these unique Chic & Stylish cards. As a reminder, dates and times are: Thursday and Friday, August 6 and 7 from 2 PM to 9 PM; and Saturday, August 8 from 9 AM to 4 PM. The Stamp Camp cost remains at $12.00 and includes all supplies and tools needed to make the 4 cards.

The End of Summer Fun and Xmas Stamp Camp will be on September 3, 4, and 5 at our normal times.  We will be doing our first Christmas card!  The Holiday Catalog – Handmade for the Holidays – will be coming out this month so keep your eyes on your mailbox.  There are lots of cool items in this brochure!

CHIC & STYLISH: The Perfect Hat

I saw this Hero Arts stamp set with dies on Zulilly – one of my favorite shopping sites – and I fell in love with it.  What do you think?  You must admit it is different!

002  001

My first sample contrasts the modern DSP with the old fashioned lady with the hat image.  I wasn’t sure I liked the drastic comparison so my second sample uses more everyday DSP with the image.  The new Go Wild DSP Stack is full of 6 X 6 designs in Basic Black, Tip Top Taupe (my new favorite color), and Whisper White.  You can choose the DSP used above or browse thru the stack and choose another design.  The DSP is cut to  2 X 5 3/8.  The card is cut from the new Whisper White Thick cs –  same color, but thicker.  I’m happy to see SU come out with this product.  I stamped my lady image in Tip Top Taupe on Whisper White cs and die cut it with the matching die.  I attached half of the lady to one panel side with Sticky Strip.  A standard knot of 5/8” black satin is tied to the opposite panel.  For the inside…

011 I sponged 5 1/4 X 4 Whisper White cs with Tip Top Taupe, and added my new favorite message in Tuxedo Black Memento.  I stamped the second lady image in Tip Top Taupe, die cut it, and adhered it with dimensionals.  I must admit, I simply love this card and more important – IT IS SOOOOO EASY!  Stamps with matching dies make my life much easier.

Well, you have now seen 3 of the Chic and Stylish cards.  Check back later today for the Perfect Rose.

Many thanks to those of you who have notified me that you’re planning to attend.  As one person commented, “I really need a good stamp camp!”  If you can let me know you are coming, it is helpful but not a requirement.

I will include a date and time reminder on the Perfect Rose post.

CHIC & STYLISH: The Perfect Peacock (resending)

007Isn’t this peacock the most stylish animal you’ve seen in quite some time?  I’ve combined the rich hues with the Bohemian DSP which features Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Blackberry Bliss, Rich Razzleberry and the new Delightful Dijon. The scallop border punch adds a nice curve to the triangular shapes of the DSP.   I chose to color my perfect peacock with Blendabilities and added several Rich Razzleberry pearls at the plume, and one yellow pearl as a flower center.  But what if you don’t have time to carefully color the entire peacock?  Check out the next sample

008I colored very little of the peacock in this sample.  However, I took 2 Sharpies that were close to the color in the DSP and colored rhinestones to coordinate and carry the color thru from top to bottom.  You can color as little or as much as your time allows.  The rhinestones carry the elegance thru to the bottom feather.  I again added the small, Rich Razzleberry-colored pearls for the peacock’s plume.  My message for both cards if from the Work of Art set and reads:  You are a Fabulous Work of Art.”  I carried the colors and Bohemian accent inside the card with the Bohemian Borders stamp set.

Hope you can make it to the Chic and Stylish August Stamp Camp.  Remember the dates and times:  Thursday and Friday, August 6 and 7 from 2 PM to 9 PM; and Saturday, August 8 from 9 AM to 4 PM.

Check back later today for The Perfect Hat!  Hmmmm – that sounds interesting!

CHIC & STYLISH: The Perfect English Garden

Happy Summer, Crafters and Welcome Back to the Paperrose01 Blog!  I hope your summer days have been sunny and inspirational.  I thought we would start out the last half of 2015 Stamp Camps with cards that are chic and stylish!

005 006

This Night of Navy panel card is very chic and stylish.  The panels are covered with English Garden DSP and have a very loose border punched on the top.  This is a very simple card to make with 3 scores, a decorative border, elegant “legs”, a butterfly embellishment, and a bit of navy ribbon.  I did affix a tag on the back of the card for a personal, handwritten message.  I must acknowledge and thank my sister for her assistance with this card!

003 004

The second sample features a sturdier border trim, and a change in DSP positioning.  You can make your Perfect English Garden with the border punch of your choice and arrange your DSP, ribbon usage, butterfly and message to please you.  If you don’t have the Decorative Label Punch used to make this card, you can order one at the August Stamp Camp for the reduced price of $14.40 (regularly $18.00).  This is a one time offer I personally am extending.  Tax and S&H would, of course, be added on.

I hope you can attend the August Stamp Camp and make the 4 Chic & Stylish cards.  Dates and times are:  Thursday and Friday, August 6 and 7 from 2 PM to 9 PM; and Saturday, August 8 from 9 AM to 4 PM.  The Stamp Camp cost remains at $12.00 and includes all supplies and tools needed to make the 4 cards.  Check the blog tomorrow for The Perfect Peacock and perhaps, The Perfect Hat!.

It is helpful if you can let me know if you will attending, but that is not a requirement.  I am looking forward to seeing everyone after this long break!
