Season’s Tweetings

Early Merry Christmas!  Our second Christmas in July card features stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn.  I made a mistake in stating that the nativity die we are using for our first card came from Lawn Fawn.  That die is actually from Taylored Expressions.  Today we will see Stampin’ Up meets Lawn Fawn!

2016.06.21 Xmas 1 view 2

I’ve enlarged this view in the hopes you can see the stitching around the Very Vanilla and Designer Paper.  The stitched rectangle die set finally came is a Cottage Cutz product and arrived late last week.  I really like the finished look the stitching gives to the card stock.  The 2-sided designer paper is from Stampin Up and has 8 different patterns.  You may choose to use the opposite side of what I used.  Let’s look at the other patterns I used.

2016.06.21 Xmas 1 view 3This music pattern designer series paper goes perfectly with the singing birds.  Although hard to tell, the birds “jump” off the page thanks to Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The birds are stamped on a stamped log and re-stamped on vanilla cs.  The birds are then colored with Copic markers and die cut.  The legs are trimmed off, a die cut log goes over the stamped log, and the birds are adhered with dimensionals.  Music notes are stamped around the birds and leaves attached to the log

2016.06.21 Xmas 1 view 4This designer paper pattern calls for a Garden Green layer instead of red as used in the 2 previous views.  The cs layer is embossed with the long retired swiss dots embossing folder.  The tiny dots give texture to the card but don’t detract from the Christmas scene.  6 enamel dots add a festive touch to the card.  Each crafter attending this workshop will receive 12 large and 12 medium dots.  You can mix them as I have done, or use just one color for a card – the choice is up to you!

2016.06.21 Xmas 1This card looks a bit different as this is the original card.  This card led me to search out the stitched rectangle dies which resulted in the dimension changes noted in the previous 3 views.  However, this designer paper pattern is one that I will have cut and you can use either side.  The designer paper layer is popped up with the new Stampin’ Up foam adhesive strips.  I find them faster to use than regular dimensionals and they are thicker than dimensionals.  If you prefer to use dimensionals, they will be in your tool box.

2016.06.21 Bird messageThe message I used is from the new Peace This Christmas set.  I love how you can coordinate the bird set for your entire card!  Check out the envelope view below.  Stamping the log and a single bird carries the theme thru from beginning to end.  You can color your birds as you choose and arrange them on the log as you choose.  My hubby did suggest that one bird be colored red which I agree adds to the festive feeling.  Although you can’t see the Wink of Stella glimmer, I did use this added touch on my leaves, birds and even the musical notes.

2016.06.21 Bird envelopeSee the cute envelope!  You all know how obsessive I am about decorating the envelope – but doesn’t this cute design really make you want to see what’s inside?

So what will I do for you if you attend the Christmas in July workshop?  Your logs and leaves will be cut.  My goal is to have your birds die cut so you will only need to color them.  Your paper will all be cut with the exception of the designer paper.  You will have all 4 patterns, but as I don’t know which side you will choose and we want to have the stitching on the correct side, you will need to die cut those yourself.

Remember the dates – Thursday July 7th from 10 am to 9 pm, and  Saturday July 9th from 10 am to 9 pm.  If you are short on time, you can do your stamping and coloring, and take your cards home to put together.  The 8 cards – the 4 above and 4 nativity scene cards – are a bargain for $15!!!!  We will create another 8 cards at the Christmas in November workshop on November 17, 18, 19.  I must know by Sunday July 3rd if you will be attending Christmas in July.  Many thanks to those of you who have already responded!

Christmas in July

Are you ready for some Christmas?  Remember, the more you do now, the less you will need to do later!!!!  For the first time ever, I am offering Christmas in July – 8 cards – 4 each of 2 totally different cards.  These are not difficult cards – no bows, no heat embossing, no fancy cuts.

2016.06.21 Xmas 2The first card is simple but elegant – done in white, gold and black.  The nativity scene is a wonderful die from Lawn Fawn.  A 3” gold circle is added behind the die cut and elevated on Stampin’ Dimensionals.    The gold rays come from the Stampin’ Up  Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set.  My favorite Softly Falling embossing folder gives a textured feel to the top layer.  Narrow gold ribbon runs behind the sentiment.  The card is layered on gold and thick Whisper White cs.

2016.06.21 Xmas 2 messageThe message layer features the gold stamped rays as seen on the card front.  I stamped my front and inside messages in black from a new Lawn Fawn set.  I have lots of Stampin’ Up Christmas message stamps that could also be used – the choice is up to the stamper.

For Christmas in July, all paper will be pre-cut.  The nativity scene and 3” gold circle will be pre-cut for you.  As soon as I know you are coming, I will pre-stamp the gold rays to allow them ample time to dry.

Christmas in July will be held on Thursday, July 7th from 9 AM to 9 PM and on Saturday, July 9th from 9 AM to 4 PM.  We will be celebrating my Mother’s 98th birthday on July 8th!!!  A great thing about these cards is that you can do the basics at my craft table and take them home to put them together or add embellishments.  The cost for the 8 cards is $15.00 – a Christmas bargain!

Seating will be limited!  I will need to know no later than Sunday July 3rd if you will be attending.  If you prefer to do more of one card and less of the other, please let me know now so I cut the correct amount of paper.  The sooner you can let me know if you will or will not be attending, the easier the prep will be for me.

Also, Stamp Camp for the remainder of the year will be:  August 11, 12, 13 – September 1, 2, 3 – October 6, 7, 8 – November 3, 4, 5.  We will have Christmas in November on November 17, 18, 19 and make another 8 Christmas cards.  On December 1, 2, 3, I will be offering a holiday pop-up box workshop.

Summer Blessings,  Rosemary – (h)630/759-3089 – (c)630/965-1965 – paperrose01@aol.com
