DAPPER DAY

Daughter Debbie makes cards with a Stampin’ Up demonstrator in Hampshire, IL.  She showed me a cute card she made and I thought, this could be made into a simple masculine card.  And so, Dapper Day was created.

WP_20180517_12_46_19_Pro 1The measurements of this fun fold card are a teensy bit different.  We start with 7 1/2 X 5 1/2 Tranquil Tide and score at 4 1/4.  A piece of True Gentleman DSP cut to 5 1/4 X 3 is adhered to the card front.  The band that wraps from front to back is 5 1/2 X 1 1/2 Tranquil Tide and is scored at 1”.  The un-scored end is punched with the banner triple punch to give the sharp banner end.  The 1” scored end is adhered to the back side of the card.  The Very Vanilla sentiment from the Truly Tailored set is stamped in Night of Navy and die cut with the 2 3/8 circle framelit.  This circle is layered on to a 2 1/2 Night of Navy scallop circle and adhered to the Tranquil Tide band.  Finally, a True Gentleman button is “sewed” to the sentiment circle with linen or metallic thread.

WP_20180521_15_37_10_Pro 1True Gentleman DSP has some very nice patterns so you can have your choice of 3.  The sample has a print of lines.  The second sample to the right has a diamond pattern.  The sample below has a plaid pattern.  You can choose any of the 3 as long as the designer paper lasts.  The Tranquil Tide card base remains the same for all 3 patterns.

WP_20180521_15_33_35_Pro 1As noted above, the third card sample features the plaid True Gentleman designer paper.

So you have now seen all 4 manly creations for June Stamp Camp which will be held Thursday May 31 from 1 – 7 pm, Friday June 1 from 2 – 7 pm, and Saturday June 2 from 9 am – 4 pm.  I am waiting for the new catalogs to arrive so you can pick yours up (free) at the June Stamp Camp.  I know many SU demonstrators charge for the catalogs but I am choose not to.

This is the last regular stamp camp until August 2, 3 and 4.  We are currently scheduled for Christmas in July on July 19 and July 21.  This is tentative and I will keep you posted. I will also keep you posted on any specials/sales Stampin’Up might have.  The winter Occasions Catalog will be coming out this summer.  I’m excited to see what our holiday choices will be.

Wishing you a great summer!

CELEBRATE IN STYLE

WP_20180517_12_51_22_Pro 1This masculine card is one of my favorites.  It is actually quite simple, using 2 patterns of DSP – True Gentleman and Wood Textures – and the Tailored Tag Punch.  5 tags of each pattern are adhered diagonally on Night of Navy cs to make this eye-catching design.  The completed layer is adhered to an Early Espresso card. The sentiment  from the Truly Tailored Stamp Set is stamped in Navy on Tip Top Taupe (retired) and adhered with dimensionals over one of the punches.  Two True Gentleman buttons are “sewed” on with linen thread.

WP_20180517_15_20_40_Pro 1The second sample card uses a “rougher” looking  Wood Texture pattern.  A linen thread bow is tied on to the lower button.

You’ve seen 3 of our 4 masculine cards.  The last card – Dapper Day – will be posted tomorrow – Monday May 21st.  I want to do a sample with a different DSP pattern so that folks can have a choice.

As a reminder, June Stamp Camp is Thursday May 31 from 1 – 7 pm, Friday June 1 from 2 – 7 pm, and Saturday June 2 from 9 am – 4 pm.  It is helpful if you can let me know which day you might be coming.  Check back tomorrow for Dapper Day.

TRULY TAILORED in PLAID

WP_20180517_12_49_40_Pro 1This is one of those cards that really holds your interest as you take in all the parts and pieces.  Crushed Curry is added to the Night of Navy and Tranquil Tide color scheme.  Two patterns of the True Gentleman DSP are used.  The navy corduroy ribbon adds texture.  Two of the True Gentleman buttons are used with a linen thread bow tied to the larger button.  The bow is, of course, optional. The idea for this masculine card was cased from SU Demonstrator Mary Deatherage.  I did make 3 changes.  First, I put the plaid on the top, I cut the diagonal at an angle that matched the print on the bottom piece of DSP, and I added a second button.  This is not a difficult card and one you can complete at home once your sentiment is stamped and punched.  I love the Tailored Tag Punch.  It’s classy with clean lines.  Word has it we may see more use of this punch in the upcoming catalog.

The retired list is available for your perusal at Retiring Products   This is a good time to pick up some of your favorites at a discount.

Two more masculine creations coming.  Check back soon!

HONORING THE MEN IN OUR LIVES

Hi Crafters!  Can you believe how fast 2018 is progressing?  I can’t believe it is time for our June Stamp Camp.  It’s a great time to devote our crafting to the men in our lives – spouses, relatives, co-workers, friends, neighbors.  Although I did not specify “FATHER’S DAY” in any of the sentiments I used for my samples, any of our June cards could be used for the upcoming Father’s Day occasion.  Our cards could also be adapted for masculine graduations.

WP_20180517_12_42_48_Pro 1I’ve titled this card “Truly Tailored meets Basket Weave.”  The color scheme for most of our June projects is Night of Navy and Tranquil Tide. The stamp set we will be using is Truly Tailored and the DSP is True Gentleman.  The sample here features the Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder which was available during Sale-A-Brations.  I cased this card from Karen Finkle.  Karen had swiped her Night of Navy ink pad over the recessed side of the embossing folder before running it thru the Big Shot giving the recessed areas a nice blue shadow. I loved the effect and spent several hours trying to perfect this technique before giving up and leaving the weave plain! I was covered in navy ink!  Three patterns of the True Gentleman DSP embellish the basket weave layer.  One of the sentiments from the set is stamped and punched out with the Tailored Tag Punch. A strip of navy crinkled seam binding ribbon and a True Gentleman button add dimension and interest. This is a simple masculine card that is fun to make.

June Stamp Camp is kind of an oxymoron as it starts on May 31st.  With graduations, weddings, and Father’s Day celebrations, I wanted to start early.  Dates/times:  Thursday May 31st from 1 – 7 pm, Friday June 1 from 2 – 7 pm, Saturday June 2 from 9 am – 4 pm.  These are cards that you truly can finish at home once you have your pieces cut and sentiments stamped and punched.  If possible, please let me know by Memorial Day – May 28th – what day you might be stopping by.  This helps insure I don’t cut too much paper.  The cost remains at $12 for 4 cards and $2 for each additional card.  This is a great opportunity to build up your masculine card supply.

The new 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up Catalogs will also be available at June Stamp Camp.  I expect them to arrive this week.

Looking forward to seeing you!  Blessings, Rosemary – (home) 630/759-3089 – (cell) 630/965-1965 – paperrose01@aol.com
