SUNFLOWER SHAKER

SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE YOUR SUNFLOWERS!

08.26.20 Sunflower Shaker stackedThis shaker card was designed by Debbie and she and I shared a lot of laughs as she assembled it.  Although the card may appear complicated, it is not as long as you follow the directions.  As I was making a sample today, I wasn’t paying close attention and put the card together without the ribbon.  The card base is the new Cinnamon Cider and is perfect for the approaching fall months.  The narrow strip of DSP is from Flowers for Every Season 6X6 collection.  The wood DSP is from retired stock.  The lovely 3/8” satin ribbon is Early Espresso.

08.26.20 Sunflower Shaker red fanned outWe used the Scan’n’Cut to cut our sunflower bundles.  The Jar Punch does a quick job of making the jar opening.  There is a jar dome that fits into the opening and holds the sequins you choose.  The samples use different wood tones, colors and ribbons.  The top sample has 2 layers of sunflowers stacked with dimensionals adhering them.  The sunflowers are colored in light and dark Mango Melody, Calypso Coral and Bronze, The sample to the right features the Bumblebee Gingham ribbon and the flowers are colored in light and dark Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade and bronze.  The flowers are stacked but the bottom layer radiates out giving the appearance of a larger bouquet.

08.26.20 Sunflower Shaker blackberry fanned outThe sample to the left uses Cinnamon Cider ribbon and flowers fanning out that have been colored with dark Pumpkin Pie, dark Mango Melody, light and dark Soft Suede, and dark Blackberry Bliss.  All 3 samples have small bows of Bumblebee gingham ribbon.  Each sample uses a different collection of sequins.  There are lots of choices for you – wood tone, ribbon, Stampin’ Blends, sequins.  The stamp set gives the choice of 4 different bouquets but we thought sunflowers were the best choice for September.

This is the fourth and final option for September Stamp Camp.  Dates and times – September 3rd from 10am to 4 pm, September 4th from 10am to 4pm, and September 5th from 9am to 4pm.  As a reminder masks are required as is frequent hand washing.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate so that breaks and eating can be done outside.  If we encounter rain, the garage may become our break room.  I am still limiting the number of attendees – especially with the increased Covid-19 infection rate in Will County.

There is a minor change in pricing for September Stamp Camp.  The cost remains $14 for any 4 cards but additional poinsettia cards will be $3.50 each.  Additional Sunflower Shakers or So Much Happy cards will remain $3.00. Please let me know as soon as you can which day you plan on attending and which cards you would like to do.

Mark your calendars now for October Stamp Camp – Thursday, Friday, Saturday – October 1, 2 and 3.

Looking forward to seeing you next week!          Rosemary – (H)630.759.3089 – (c)630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

SO MUCH HAPPY!!!

08.26.20 S0 Much Happy straight

Can you ever have too much happy in your life?  I don’t think so.

08.26.20 So Much Happy Slant

08.26.20 So Much Happy Magnolia

This is my newest most favorite celebration set!  It is showy and so very E A S Y!  Quite truthfully, this set never jumped out at me until I saw a sample from another SU demonstrator.  The die set (see pg. 178 in your 2020-2021 catalog) includes this wonderful HAPPY die plus balloons, stars, a banner, embossed strips, a cloudlike formation and the best ever balloon string I have ever seen!.  You can cut the HAPPY straight across at the top, middle, or down toward the bottom.  You can cut it angled on a horizontal or vertical card.  I have part of my retired DSP stash out for this card.  I started with a thick white card base, adhered a 5 3/8 X 4 1/8 piece of DSP on the card front, die cut the HAPPY image on 5 1/2 X 4 1/4, die cut this with the stitched rectangle die and adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added matching 1/4” strips above and below the HAPPY to accent the word.  For the top cards, I die cut 2 balloons and strings from the same card stock along with stars, and adhered them on.  For the bottom cards, I punched out flowers or fussy cut matching flowers.  You can make these fancy or simple, feminine or masculine.  The Stamp Set gives you the option of HAPPY “birthday, graduation, to have you in my life, to know you, to celebrate you.”  Also, “so very, HAPPY”, balloons, stars, a bow and the balloon string are included in the set. You could easily make the card HAPPY “anniversary” or “retirement.”

This is card option 3 for September Stamp Camp.  We’ve seen the red poinsettia card, the white poinsettia card, and now So Much Happy.  Stay tuned for Sunflower Shaker!

The Elegant White Poinsettia

Trying once again to send this Post.

While creating the white poinsettia card, 2 things occurred – first, CHRISTMAS fell on the craft room floor and it took husband Norb several minutes to find it.  Second, I found JOY in the bathroom!  How many of you can say Christmas fell to the floor and you found joy in the bathroom?

08.26.20-White-Poinsettia-foil_thumbThis card has created some discussion within my family – which do you prefer – the red or the white poinsettia?  I love them both so I have yet to make a decision.  This elegant card features a 2 layered poinsettia that is die cut with the Poinsettia dies from the Plush Poinsettia flocked designer paper.

08.26.20-White-Poinsettia-white-and-[2]The background DSP for our white poinsettia is the 6X6 Feels Like Frost DSP.  This comes in several patterns of foil with white designs as we see above, and white with foil designs as we see here.  The die cut poinsettias are adhered with glue dots; silver metallic and Shaded Spruce die cut branches embellish the flower.

08.26.20-White-Poinsettia-close_thumThe beautiful beaded pearl embellishment used on the red poinsettia is also used here.  The Mint Macaron leaves match the card layer.  Note the Christmas Joy.  Using the Sizzix adhesive paper under the cs, one set is die cut in Mint Macaron and one in Shaded Spruce.  They are layered with the spruce shadowing the mint.  Originally, I used the Mint Macaron alone but it was too light.  Using just the Shaded Spruce, the effect was too heavy.  By layering, I was able to keep the peaceful effect but make it legible.

08.26.20-White-Poinsettia-uns_thumb9Using the same foil as the card front, a miniature poinsettia is made and a dot of yellow Stickles is added.  The tiny flowers are perfect for the card message layer.

So – which do you prefer?  The White Poinsettia or the Red?  I’m interested in learning your preference.  Please let me know as soon as you can which day you will be coming and what cards you choose to create.  Stay tuned for So Much Happy!

WHITE CHRISTMAS POINSETTIA–Take 2

RED CHRISTMAS POINSETTIA

08.26.20 Red Poinsettia and envDoes this say CHRISTMAS to you?  Poinsettias are a must in my holiday decorating and have always been a favorite.  The Red Velvet cs used for the poinsettia is a dream to craft with.  The background Plush Poinsettia paper is fun to work with.

08.26.20 Red Poinsettia

The green leaves, red satin ribbon, silver accents and beautiful beaded pearl centers embellish the poinsettia perfectly.  Christmas joy is die cut and adheres easily with a few dabs of liquid adhesive.  The silver metallic accents are die cut from my small collection of assorted branch dies.

08.26.20 Red Poinsettia closeCan you see the embossed veins in the poinsettia petals and the leaves?  The dies do both – emboss and die cut with beautiful results.  The flocked Plush Poinsettia paper is 12 X 12 and has 3 patterns of which I have used 2 in the samples.  The dies include the 3 layer sizes shown here plus leaves, branches, flower centers, a full poinsettia die and a teensy flower die.  This smallest poinsettia has become a favorite of mine.

08.26.20 Red Poinsettia msg layer closeI think these small poinsettias are perfect for the message layer of the card.  I adhered 2 together and added the yellow center with Stickles.  I’m embarrassed to say how old this tube of stickles is, but it still works perfectly.  I’ve used yellow Stickles as the actual flower of the poinsettia is the yellow center.  The red petals are bracts.

The Red Christmas Poinsettia is one of the cards being offered at September Stamp Camp – September 3rd from 10am to 4 pm, September 4th from 10am to 4pm, and September 5th from 9am to 4pm.  Masks are required as is frequent hand washing.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate so that breaks and eating can be done outside.  If we encounter rain, the garage may become our break room.  I am still limiting the number of attendees – especially with the increased Covid-19 infection rate in Will County.  Following Governor Pritzker’s rules, our stamp camp will not allow party buses, our gaming tables will be closed at 11pm, and room capacity will be limited to 25%.

There is a minor change to pricing for September Stamp Camp.  The cost remains $14 for any 4 cards but additional poinsettia cards will be $3.50 each.  Additional Sunflower Shakers or So Much Happy will remain $3.00.

As always, I ask for as much advance notice as possible to insure I have the quantity of cards ready when you come.  Stay tuned for the next blog post.
