MORE Mostly Male Cards

I know you haven’t heard from me in almost a month, but I am alive and well and busy, busy, busy.  My 94 year-old Mother is visiting from California.  For those of you who have not met Maxine, she is a bundle of go-go-go.  She has a trainer at a gym in San Jose but while she is here, thanks to the generosity of Judy, she is using a recumbent bike and my weights for her exercise.

I want to share 2 more of the Mostly Male Cards we will be doing at our Stamp Camp this coming weekend – August 3rd and 4th.  You’ve already seen the shirt and tie cards.

Frog card bestThis card comes to us with a bit of help from My Digital Studio.  The grass (much darker on the actual card) from “Inspired by Nature” (Retired) and the frogs were printed from MDS which makes your job quite a bit easier.  I cas’d this general idea from Brenda Keenan, a demonstrator in San Jose, CA.  We add a decorative strip of the “Paisley Petals” Designer Series Paper layered to the left of the grass image.  We’ve also added a decorative edge with the Scallop Ribbon Border Punch and Chocolate Chip cs. The card edges have been sponged with Chocolate Chip, and our message comes from the new  “Itty Bitty Banners” and are die cut with the Bitty Banners Framelits.  A bit of 5/8” Chocolate Chip finishes this masculine card.

This masculine card provides a way to use up your scraps.  We have used the “Well Worn” (Retired) Designer Series Paper here and layered the strips on Cajun Craze cs that has been embossed with the new Chevron Folder.  This card was also cas’d from Brenda Keenan.  I used “Perfect Words” for my message and punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch.  2 silver brads and Espresso satin ribbon finish our card.  I also used this idea to make some cards for my Mother, using more feminine colors.  You can use a square punch to make your tails, but I prefer using the Photo Corner Punch.

3 stripes also good          3 strips feminine

I am hoping – but not promising – a 4th card that features the Labels Collection Framelits on a black and gray card.  We are having a family birthday bash  tomorrow – Sunday – and work has been keeping me pretty busy Monday thru Friday.  But, I will try as this is such a CUTE card and is not at all difficult.

Hope to see you this coming weekend – Friday August 3rd from 4 PM – 9 PM and Saturday August 4th from 9 AM to 4 PM.  The cost will be $8 if we only do the 3 cards and $10 if I get the 4th card done.  These cards are not difficult and you should be in and out in less than 2 hours.  I will be at your side to help you with the folds of the tie and shirt card if you need help.  In case you’ve forgotten, what it looks like, I have added one of the tie cards below.  Give me a call or drop an E-mail if you have any questions!!!! Blessings, Rosemary – 630-759-3089

Shirt and Tie for the Mostly Male Stamp Camp

Check out the shirt and tie cards we will be creating for the Mostly Male Stamp Camp on August 3rd and 4th.  I truly thought this would be a challenging project, but it looks harder than it is.  The shirt is made with a score line, 2 – 1” cuts and 2 folds.  The tie has several folds, but I will have pictures, sample ties, and my great hands-on assistance to guide you through the folding process.  You will have a choice of colors and patterns for your shirt and tie.

Shirt 1Shirt 4

Notice the the collar of the shirt on the left.  It matches the shirt.  This process requires an extra score and fold.  The shirt on the right has a patterned collar which was a major blooper on my part.  I should have scored from the other end which had no pattern and the collar would have been a pale blue which would have coordinated with the shirt, tie, and card.Shirt 3

Shirt 2 better

The card on the left has a patterned collar which coordinates nicely with the tie.  The tie on the right has the matching collar.  I will show you how to do both collars.  Embossing folders were used on these 2 cards – Perfect Polka Dots for the card on the left and Houndstooth for the card on the right.

Shirt rice paperThe shirt and tie card to the right was the last and best!  I actually used rice paper for the tie.  Rice paper is thin and is perfect for folds.  The tie was easy to fold and lays quite flat.  If you have any origami or rice paper at home, and wish to use that for your shirt and/or tie, please feel free to bring it with you.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars now for the Mostly Male Stamp Camp on August 3rd from 4 PM to 9 PM & August 4th from 9 AM to 4 PM.

Give me a call if you  have any questions.  Blessings, Rosemary – 630/759-3089

Petite Purses for July Open House

Finally!  I have some petite purses to share with you.  The purses are quite simple to do – 1 piece of 5 1/2 – 6” x 8” card stock or designer series paper that after the die cut, requires 7 folds and 2 small pieces of sticky strip.  You can create purses that take more time by adding embellishments.  The die is available on page 194 of the Stampin’ Up Catalogue.  These little purses are perfect favors for showers.  They will also hold birthday cash, a pair of earrings, or other small gift.  Here are some of my samples:

PursesThe 2 purses to the back were very simple.  A close up of the purse to the left is shown in the next picture.  The purse on the right features rhinestones on the flap and across the bottom.  The center black and white purse is my favorite!  I used designer series paper for the purse, and added black card stock to the flap that I had embossed with the new Fancy Fan Folder (P. 189).  Black card stock was punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border (P. 183) to provide trim for the bottom of the purse.  A single pearl accents the flap.

Purses 2The purses to the back were made with designer series paper that included.  I simply added the trim to give these two projects a bit of interest.  I simply added a large pearl to the rose on the flap of the front purse.

These and other petite purses will be on display at my July 13th and 14th Open House.  You will have the opportunity to make your own purse and embellish it however you choose.  I will have plenty of paper to choose from as well as scissors, sticky strip, punches, pearls, rhinestones, embossing folders, etc.  You can also pick up your coupons for the remainder of the year, and grab your new catalogue if you don’t already have it.  Light refreshments will also be available.  Give me a call if you have any questions – 630/759-3089.

Open House – July 13th from 3 to 9 PM & July 14th from 9 AM to 4 PM

Mostly Male Stamp Camp – August 3rd from 4 to 9 PM & August 4th from 9 AM to 4 PM.  Cards for this upcoming stamp camp will start previewing in my next post.  Blessings, Rosemary – 630-759-3089

Theme Cards with Some Internet Help

I’ve been having some problems with  my blog, so I hope this post works.  I had 2 birthday cards to do earlier this month – one for a “Hello Kitty” theme, and one for an “Iron Man” theme.  As I couldn’t figure out an easy way to use punches for these characters, I went out to the internet and found images for both.  This is the result of my printed images with some paper crafting accents:

Iron ManThe color came out very poor for this card.  The card stock for the card are actually Basic Gray with a Real Red inset.  Google had a site for Iron Man images so I printed the size I wanted.  It is hard to see, but all the white spots that indicate light have rhinestones in place.  I added the “Happy Birthday” with the new Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set (P. 134) and then used the Bitty Banner Framelits (P. 191) to cut out the banner.  A single Basic Gray photo corner punch provided balance to the card.

Hello Kitty 1I love this Hello Kitty image.  I found it on a link for Hello Kitty wallpaper.  I mounted it on Pumpkin Pie and Real Red card stock.  A red glimmer brad embellishes the center of Kitty’s bow, and yellow rhinestones were added to the center of the white daisies.  Note the Tangerine Tango ball fringe added to the bottom of the card.

The image to the left shows the inside of the card which uses the new Floral Framelits Dies (P. 191) in Pumpkin Pie and Whisper white.  I cut out one of the white daisies, added another yellow rhinestone in the center and adhered the daisy with a glue dot.   The envelope shown on the right carries the Hello Kitty theme through.  I added a strip of the wallpaper image and more Tangerine ball fringe – but the ball fringe ended up a bit crooked.  IMG_1907Hello Kitty envelope

I have taken photos of 2 of the “Mostly Male” cards we will be making at the August 3rd and 4th Stamp Camp.  I also have made 2 of the petite purses we will be making at the Open House on July 13th and 14th.  I went to take pictures of the petite purses and ended up not closing my walker seat after I took out the camera – AND – I sat down inside the basket under the walker seat.  I was sitting too low to pull myself up so I ended up calling son Russ in Romeoville and sobbing “I need you now!”  He and baby Isaac made it over here in 11 minutes.  While Isaac sat on the craft room floor playing with a piece of Lucky Limeade card stock, Russ placed my gait belt around me and gently helped me stand.  Needless to say, the pictures of the purses were not been taken.  My goal for tomorrow is to post the petite purses, with the “Mostly Male” posts to follow.  Hope you can stop by for the Open House!

Blessings to you, Rosemary

Mark your Stamping Calendars now!

The Rosemary Update is that I am about ready to return to normal life!  The last Home Care PT and OT visits are this week.  Outpatient therapy at ATI starts June 26th and I return to work on July 2nd.  I thought a good way to celebrate this would be to have a Stampin’ Up Open House on July 13th and 14th.  We will be set up to make the new petite purse as a Make’n’Take.  You can pick up your 2012-2013 catalog and coupon sheet, and enjoy a bite to eat.  Or, if  you are in a hurry, I will have some purses pre-cut and you can just take the die cut purse and instructions, the coupon sheet and catalog and leave.  If you will be out of town, just let me know when would be a convenient time for you to pick up your packet, and I will have it all ready for you.  I will have some pictures of the petite purse to show you next week.  While I was in Manor Care, I thought I had ordered the purse die, but it turns out I didn’t!  This is an easy project and you can embellish the purse as much as you choose.

I love some of the items in the new catalog.  One of my favorite is the new Chevron Embossing Folder – page 189, $7.95.  I recently made 2 masculine cards using this folder:

HB Human“Happy Birthday Human” was done in Poppy Parade and Basic Gray.  Although this stamp set is retired, I love the classic look of this card.  The deep embossing the Chevron folder provides gives you an instant background and is perfect for the male gender.

This graduation card is done in Basic Gray and Black.  Again, you can see how the chevron provides the instant background for this simple card.  The hat is made from an old template I developed years ago.  I just trace the template on my card stock, cut, add a brad, a tassel effect, and I’m done!

This is just one of the many items in the new catalog I have had time to play with.  More to come.  Hope you can make the Open House on July 13th – 4 to 9 PM or July 14th – 9 AM to 4 PM.  Give me a call if those times don’t work for you, and I will prepare a packet for you. to pick up at your convenience.  Just think – all freebies!

Regular stamp camps will start August 3rd and 4th with a September theme of Mostly Male.  We will be doing several masculine cards, and Judy is going to lead us in a card featuring Iris Folding.

Check back as I have more cards and ideas to share.
