YOUR SCRAPPY STRIP CARD

I saw a card technique recently that enthralled me and I finally found the time to watch the video demonstrating the technique.  Bruno and Kylie Bertucci (#loveitchopit) are a husband-wife Stampin’Up Demonstrator team in Australia.  Bruno developed this technique when he wanted to create a card based on a piece of art work he and Kylie had purchased for their home.  In the video I watched, Bruno based the card he made on the tropical shirt he was wearing – the shirt he had purchased pre-Coronavirus for a planned cruise that was subsequently cancelled.  What fun!  So for August Stamp Camp, please wear something colorful and you will create a card based on your clothing and using the Scrappy Strip Technique!

07.28.20 Scrappy Strip technique 2This is the card Bruno created for the video based on the tropical colors in the shirt he was wearing.  Many Stampin’Up folks have YouTube videos demonstrating this technique but I enjoyed seeing the video from the original creator.  Note that this is done on a Basic Black card base.

07.28.20 Your Scrappy Strip Card unkThe card to the right is based on my interpretation of the shirt I was wearing at the time.  This is a card that is great for using up scraps and can be used for almost any occasion.  This is why I’m asking you to wear something colorful for August Stamp Camp.  I expanded on Bruno’s technique by adding a suble DSP and embossing 3 of the colors I chose.  No butterfly for this card.

07.28.20 Your Scrappy Strip Card msg layerAfter the card is constructed, there is a small strip left that can be adhered onto the message layer providing great card continuity!  I love this little add-on.

07.28.20 Your Scrappy Strip Card card on shirtThis is the shirt I was wearing and the colors I chose.  It’s hard to see the 2 shades of green in the shirt fabric.

And this is the end of August Stamp Camp.  To repeat from my previous post:  We are still limiting crafters to 4 per day, requiring masks and frequent hand washing.  Snacks and masks breaks will take place on the deck (weather permitting).  I am changing the start and end times to allow for a bit more time to wipe down stamps, inks, etc. between uses.  Please bring your patience.  Cost remains the same – $14 for any 4 cards and $3 for each additional card.

August Stamp Camp:  Thursday August 6 from 10 am to 4 pm; Friday August 7 from 10 am to 4 pm; and Saturday August 8 from 9 am to 4 pm,  Please let me know if these dates/times conflict with your schedule and we can develop an alternative.   In order to limit the dates to 4 crafters, please notify me as soon as possible with the date you are coming and which cards you wish to do.

September Stamp Camp: Thursday September 3 from 10 am to 4 pm; Friday September 4 from 10 am to 4 pm; Saturday August 5 from 10 am to 4 pm.  Mark your calendars now.

Hopefully you have your holiday occasions catalog.  Mine arrived yesterday.  Please notify me if yours does not arrive as I have paid for these deliveries.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

07.28.20 Happy Birthday cards

Do you remember seeing these cards before?  I had them out for March preview at February Stamp Camp.  But as March Stamp Camp died when COVID-19 attacked, we never made the card.  Happy Birthday to You was a set available during Sale-A-Brations earlier this year.  Some of you may have this set.  I purchased the dies which were available for a short time.  The cake and flowers can be stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black or Basic Gray for a crisp outline or in Smoky Slate for a less defined outline.  I stamped the cake/flowers, the flowers, and the upper right flower.  After die-cutting, I used Stampin’ Blends to color the images.  As the flowers were my focal point, I used subtle colors for the cake and plate – Soft Sea Foam, Mint Macaron and Smoky Slate. The colors for the red card are dark and light Real Red and Old Olive.  The yellow card uses dark and light daffodil delight, dark Mango Melody on the berries, and Call Me Clover. The flowers on the red card are popped up on dimensionals and the yellow flowers are adhered with liquid adhesive.  Both ways give the card dimension.  Coordinating ribbon is used in the corner of the art pieces and of course a butterfly magically flies onto the card.  The Whisper White background for the art piece is embossed with the Textured Impressions Stripes EF.

07.28.20 Happy Birthday msg layerThe last flower I stamped, die-cut and colored is for the message layer.  The red flower is popped up with dimensionals and the yellow flower shown here is adhered flat.  I really liked the birthday message from the retired Birthday Fiesta stamp set, so I chose to pre-stamp this message for you, my favorite crafters.  You can choose to color your cake and flowers in any color.  We have coordinating ribbon in pinks, oranges, blues, greens, etc.

This is a good birthday card staple and if you choose, you can make multiples of this card and pass on making the others.  As noted previously, the cost remains $14 for any 4 cards and $3 for each additional card.  Don’t forget to notify me which day you plan on coming and what your card choices are.

AUGUST SUNFLOWER

07.28.20 Sunflower closedAs we approach mid summer, the sunflowers grow taller and wave gracefully in the wind.  We will be creating our own sunflower at August Stamp Camp.  This super easy double triangle fun fold features retired Golden Honey Specialty DSP, the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set and the Sunflowers Dies.

07.28.20 Sunflower openDid you find the butterfly?

The image above shows the card closed; the image to the right shows the card fully open.  The sunflower is stamped in Early Espresso on the new Bumble Bee card stock.  Stamped leaves are die-cut along with several branches and adhered to the back of the sunflower.  A second sunflower is adhered to the back of the stamped flower to cover the mechanics.  The top of the sunflower is adhered securely to the top flap of the card.  The bottom flap is free.  When the top flap is pulled up, a message appears stamped on Bumble Bee.  This is a super simple card and a great way to use your scraps.  The colorful folds are made from 2 pieces of 4 X 3 DSP.

Two more cards will be posted tomorrow for August Stamp Camp.  We will see a Happy Birthday card and Your Scrappy Strip Card.  The latter will be based on what you wear to August Stamp Camp.  The post will show the shirt I was wearing and the card I created to coordinate with the shirt.  A fun, easy new technique and great way to use your scraps.

Don’t forget to let me know which day you will be attending and the cards you choose to make.

CHRISTMAS WREATH

I hope you’ve recovered from Christmas in July.  August Stamp Camp brings another Christmas Card that is cheerful and

07.28.20 Christmas WreathI always think of pine wreaths at Christmas.  The holiday wreath shown here is die cut with the Wreath Builder dies.  Two Old Olive wreaths are layered on a Shaded Spruce wreath and mounted to the Real Red card that features holiday DSP.  A red satin bow and several red rhinestones festoon the finished wreath.  Although hard to see, Wink of Stella is brushed on the DSP red bells, and on about half of the leaves on the middle Old Olive wreath.  This gives a glittery effect but is not overpowering.

07.28.20 Christmas Wreath GoldThe same wreath is shown here with gold ribbon and larger gold gems.  Perhaps you would like to weave the narrow gold ribbon thru the leaves of the wreath.  By the time that idea triggered my brain, I had already mounted the wreath to the card.  Arrange a Wreath has many stamps for this wreath and features several sentiments such as the Merry Christmas shown here.  The stamp set and dies are available as a bundle which saves 10%.

07.28.20 Christmas Wreath Msg Layer plain    07.28.20 Christmas Wreath Msg Layer Love

The simple message layer features a strip of the holiday DSP that is brushed with Wink of Stella.  An option is the heart-shaped LOVE die shown above.  The heart could be used on the message layer or even nestled in the greenery of the wreath.  Although this card may look difficult, it is really quite easy and fun to create!

In case you’re wondering when August Stamp Camp is, we are back on schedule.  We are still limiting crafters to 4 per day, requiring masks and frequent hand washing.  Snacks and masks breaks will take place on the deck.  I am changing the start and end times to allow for a bit more time to wipe down stamps, inks, etc. between uses.  Please bring your patience.  Cost remains the same – $14 for any 4 cards and $3 for each additional card.

August Stamp Camp:  Thursday August 6 from 10 am to 4 pm; Friday August 7 from 10 am to 4 pm; and Saturday August 8 from 9 am to 4 pm,  Please let me know if these dates/times conflict with your schedule.  In order to limit the dates to 4 crafters, please notify me as soon as possible with the date you are coming and which cards you wish to do.

Hopefully you have your holiday occasions catalog.  Mine arrived yesterday.  Please notify me if yours does not arrive as I have paid for these deliveries.

2020 CHRISTMAS IN JULY

Hi Crafters!  It’s time for Christmas in July 2020!  Due to COVID-19, we will be limiting each day to 4 crafters with masks required.

WHEN:  The door opens on Thursday July 16 10AM – 5 PM, Friday July 17 10AM – 5PM, Saturday July 18 9AM – 4PM, Monday July 20 10AM – 5PM.  Come anytime during the listed hours on your pre-scheduled day.  I simply ask you be ready to leave at the ending time.

WHERE: 533 Emerson Circle, Bolingbrook

WHY:  It’s time to start revving up your holiday creativity

HOW:  We will use social distancing, wear masks, wash hands and/or use hand sanitizer frequently.  Each crafter will be given a micro crate for his/her tools.  No one will touch his/her tools except the crafter.  For sanitation reasons, I will run the Big Shot for each person.  Stamps, inks, Washi Tape, and blender pens will be wiped down between uses if I don’t have multiples.  Please bring your own beverage and snack.  There will be Christmas cookies (store bought) which I will be happy to serve with tongs.   Please be respectful of everyone.  Even though we will be in Phase 4, I remain extremely concerned about the Coronavirus.  I want this to be a fun, creative and safe time for all.

HOW MUCH:  Cards will be $2.50 each.  All supplies will be provided except Wink of Stella.  You can bring your own or add the Wink of Stella at home.  If you wish, you may purchase a new Wink of Stella for $6.95.  This will be yours to take home.  Hubby Norb wanted to add a 25% COVID-19 charge but I ignored him!  As the date nears, I may ask you to bring a few of your personal tools such as snips, bone folder, etc.  I will let you know.

NOW FOR THE FUN PART:  2020 Christmas in July

Washi Christmas Tree

WASHI CHRISTMAS TREE comes to us from daughter Debbie.  She developed this card last year and I was very impressed.  I did choose to add a bit ribbon for texture and dimension.  There is lots of Washi Tape to choose from – reds, greens, golds, silvers.  This is a very simple but elegant card.  The tree is die cut with Woods Dies.  Softly Fallen is embossed on the die-cut top layer.  A tree form is used to adhere the Wash Tape to; the taped form is adhered inside the top layer.  Merry Christmas is pre-cut with the Scan’n Cut and can be adhered with half mini dimensionals or rolled glue dots.

Washi Christmas Tree msg layerThe message layer is embellished with Washi Tape of your choice and several stars that match the star of your Washi Christmas Tree.

The most difficult part of this card is determining what Washi Tape you want to use and deciding what order to adhere it.

Bearing Gifts

BEARING GIFTS is from my retired Christmas stamp library.  The stamped image was enlarged and is pre-cut with the Scan’n Cut.  A black shadow is also pre-cut to frame the image.  Stampin’ Blends are used to color the image.  The card and coordinating envelope are 4 1/4 X 6 1/4, larger than the standard A2 size.  There are stars printed on the card, but I feel a few extra stars are needed.  The stamped sentiment is die-cut and embellished with a small twine bow.Bearing Gifts msg layer

The message layer consists of Cherry Cobbler cs layered with Whisper White.  I chose to fussy cut and adhere a bear and present.  This option is available to you.

Christmas Bouquet

CHRISTMAS BOUQUET is from the Wishing You Well stamp set which I was sad to see retire.  Although hard to see, this elegant card is embellished with silver glimmer paper to the right of the Springtime Foils strip, and also frames the art work.  A small silver metallic-edged bow ties the bouquet together.  There are several horizontal sentiments and dies that work well with this card.

Christmas Bouquet msg layerThe message layer is embellished with a simple image from Peace this Christmas stamped in Night of Navy to coordinate with the card front.

Holiday Birds

HOLIDAY BIRDS is the last card choice for 2020 Christmas in July.  This happy card features plaid DSP layered on Shaded Spruce, Cherry Cobbler or Night of Navy cs.  There are many plaids to choose from. The Whisper White layer is embossed in Woodland.  The long retired Bird Builder Punch is used to punch out the birds, wings and branches in your color choice.  Wings and branches can be punched in the plaid and/or gold glimmer card stocks; some will be pre-punched or you can punch your own.  A simple sentiment from Itty Bitty Christmas is stamped in matching ink, die cut and shadowed in gold glimmer cs.    A twine bow in your color choice embellishes the top layer.

Holiday Birds msg layerThe message layer is embellished with an additional bird.  An additional wing can be added to each bird adhered behind the bird.  I’m not sure why I didn’t think of that when daughter Debbie and I did the samples.  I will have an additional sample showing the double wings for 2020 Christmas in July.

NOW I NEED YOUR HELP!  As this gathering is limited to 4 crafters per day for safety concerns, I need to know what day you would like to come.  If the day you choose is full, I will ask you to choose an alternate date.  Choosing your day is my #1 concern.  Then I need to know what cards you choose to create so I can plan a card rotation order.  And to have your kits ready to go on your scheduled day, I beg for as much time as possible.

Healthy Blessings,

Rosemary – (h)630.759.3089 – (c)630.965-1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

BLUEBERRY BLOOMS

05.30.20 Blueberry sameI cased this Blueberry Bushel and Balmy Blue card from Pinterest and can’t find the name of the creator.  The stamp set name is Thoughtful Blooms and was one of the freebies from Sale-A-Brations this past winter.  In order to keep the top, bottom and sides as equal as possible, the Stamparatus became my very best friend.

05.30.20 Blueberry differentThe individual flowers are stamped in Blueberry Bushel and Balmy Blue and cut with the Scan and Cut.  You can layer them as shown on the top card – or  not.  You can make the top and bottom very similar – or not. You can use all 7 blue rhinestones – or not!  Lots of choices for you.  What do you think of the interesting embossed background?  This is the Stone 3D Embossing Folder.  I’m sad to say it will not be in the new SU catalog.  I love the interesting texture it provides.

Blueberry message more flrsThe message layer for Blueberry Blooms can either be blank, or have “hi” in script stamped in Blueberry Bushel as shown.  Extra flowers can be clustered in a corner or throughout the layer.  You can add a personalized message.  The envelope is stamped in Blueberry Bushel with the chain image seen above.

05.30.20 Blueberry WOSWink of Stella (WoS) adds so much to this card.  As seen in this photo, the WoS adds such glitter to the finished card.  I do have several WoS available if you need one.  The cost is $6.95.

You have now seen all 4 Non-Stamp Camp cards.  If you wish to pick the kits, please let me know by text, phone or E-mail.  I will be preparing the kits after they are ordered so you will need to allow me several days.  The cards remain any 4 for $14 and $3 for each additional card.

You should be receiving your 2020-21 Stampin’Up catalog by mail.  I have received a call from one happy crafter telling me she had received hers.  I am still waiting for mine.  Please let me know if you don’t have yours by June 20 as I pay SU for the catalogs and to have these delivered to you.

Blessings and Happy Crafting,

Rosemary – (home)630.759.3089 – (text/cell) – 630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

YOU’RE THE BEST!

I believe this posted prematurely and now I’m having difficulty getting it to post.  If you receive it more than once, I apologize.

I’ve wanted to use this set for some time, and with the help of the Scan and Cut, here we go!

05.30.20 Just my Type redThis cute set – P.S. You’re the Best – was one of the sets I purchased 2 years ago, and never used.  There are no dies, but it can be easily cut with snips, or in this case, use the Scan and Cut.  A black shadow that is slightly larger than the stamped image is also cut.  The only newsprint Designer Series Paper (DSP) in my archives is Vanilla, so the card ends up in Very Vanilla, Basic Black and a touch of Real Red.

05.30.20 Just my Type ginghamAlthough it is hard to see, this typewriter keys and space bar have been colored with Stampin’ Blends Smoky Slate.  If you choose, you can color more, less or none as shown in the first sample.  The typewriter “paper” is stamped with the alphabet and a tiny red glimmer butterfly rests nearby.  The ribbon and bow are either 1/4” red gingham or 3/8” Real Red.  The envelope is stamped “You’re just my type”.

05.30.20 Just my Type msg redThe message layer allows a more personalized message.  This message layer features a stamped typewriter with the sentiment stamped in Real Red.  The corners are festooned with Real Red 3/8” satin ribbon to match the bow on the card front.

05.30.20 Just my Type msg ginghamThe message layer shown here is stamped with a different sentiment and has the red gingham ribbon to match the card front.  You can choose the sentiment from the set for the message layer.  You can also choose the bow and matching ribbon.

You're the Best message choicesThe sentiment choices are shown here and will be stamped in Real Red.  Note the flower and heart choices if you’re not sure what to say.  However, “You’re the best” is a safe choice for most folks unless you are sending the card to your arch enemy!  You can also leave the typewriter “paper” blank.

As noted in the 2 previous blogs, this will be a Non-Stamp Camp and you can pick up your card packets which will not be made until ordered.  The cost remains $14 for any 4 cards and $3 for each additional card.

Healthy Blessings,

Rosemary – (home)630.759.3089 – (Cell/text)630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

A Little Hello

05.30.20 A Little Hello MouseA Little Hello is a gentle card.  The stamp sets featured include the Birch Background, Daisy Lane, A Special Someone, and Itty Bitty Greetings.  The Early Espresso card is layered with Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla stamped in Crumb Cake.  The Call Me Clover stamped stem is festooned with a punched 2-layer Daffodil Delight daisy highlighted with an adhesive-backed fuzzy yellow center.  The card recipient is honored with the daisy and a darling die-cut mouse holding a small red flower with a red rhinestone center.

05.30.20 A Little Hello SquirrelIf you don’t like the gentle little mouse, you can choose the little squirrel also holding a red flower with a red rhinestone.  Both animals are stamped in Basic Gray and Smoky Slate.  Elevating the little animals with dimensionals give a 3D effect.  The little butterfly can be colored in any color you choose.  I chose to place the sentiment at the bottom of the daisy stem.

05.30.20 A Little Hello msg mouseBut wait – if you use the squirrel on the card front, what do you do with the mouse with his flower?  You use it on the message layer as shown here.  The Very Vanilla layer is sponged lightly in Crumb Cake, has 2 stamped butterflies and features the little mouse.  And if you choose to use the mouse on the top card layer, you can feature the squirrel on the message layer as shown below.   This card can be used for almost any occasion and you can stamp or script your message as you desire.

05.30.20 A Little Hello msg squirrelAs noted on the Rain or Shine post, this will be a Non-Stamp Camp.  The cards will have all the images stamped and cut.  All the pieces including the rhinestone will be included.  I don’t suggest rhinestones or pearls on the message layer as it leaves an indentation on the top card.

The cost for this Non-Stamp Camp is the standard $14 for any 4 cards and 3 for each additional card.  The cards are as shown.  As the restaurants say – “No Substitutions”.  Let me know by text, phone or E-mail which cards you choose to do.

Healthy Blessings,

Rosemary – (home)630.759.3089 – (Cell/text)630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

WELCOME EASTER

03.24.20 Welcome Easter LambI think the little animals in the “Welcome Easter” stamp set are so cute.  I plan on sending out quite a few of these as they tend to make the recipient smile – something we all can use.  Gingham and plaid papers are perfect for these cuties.

03.24.20 Welcome Easter BunnyThe little animals are stamped in black and lightly colored with Stampin’ Blends.  Some tufts of grass and flowers with colored pearls are added.  Butterflies and an occasional bee are flying around.  The scalloped square art work is layered on coordinating cs and adhered to the card front with dimensionals.

03.24.20 Welcome Easter ChickAlthough the sentiment for this chick card is for a birthday, the Easter sentiment would be perfect also.  Note how each card has a small coordinating bow at the top to the left of the sentiment.  5 colored pearls were used on each card – 3 in the center of the flowers and 2 on the card itself. A dot of glue was used in the center of each flower to insure the pearls would stay in place.  Garden Green leaves were cut from the leaf stem in the Ladybug Dies.

03.24.20 Welcome Easter Easter msgThe message layer will feature the coordinating card stock from the front layer, a strip of the gingham or plaid and a small tulip at the bottom of the layer.  The message shown at the left is available to be used.

03.24.20 Welcome Easter T of YOr the message layer can simply say “Thinking of You.”  This is a difficult time in our lives to know exactly what to say.  A stamped message is not even necessary and you can jot down a few words from your heart.  Just let me know how you want your message layer to read.

So we’ve seen 4 Easter cards – Easter Promise and Welcome Easter.  I will be sending out an E-mail explaining how we will handle the April Non-Stamp Camp.

But first – if you choose to pick up any 4 cards, I will include at no extra charge, 2 of my Meerkat Social Distancing cards:

03.24.20 Social Distancing Meerkats

This is my attempt at a bit of humor as we live with social distancing and shelter in place. There is no message, simply the sentiment “thinking of you.”  the 6’ is die cut and I did add a bit of Wink of Stella.  This card could be made using any animal or even 2 hearts but I thought the Meerkat version was cute.  So 2 of these will be yours if you order April Non-Stamp Camp cards.

Remember – 20% personal discount on SU thru March 31, 2020!

E-mail to follow shortly!

Blessings, Rosemary – (h)630.759.3089 – (c)630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

EASTER 2020

Hi Crafters!  As you shelter in place, I wanted to show you several Easter cards you can pick up outside my front door and let you know about the third and last Sale-A-Brations release. We will not be having Stamp Camp, but we can still craft!

We will Start with Easter Promise in this Blog Post.03.24.20 Easter Promise front

Easter Promise is springy Daffodil Delight crocus waving happily on a Pear Pizzazz and Mossy Meadow card,  This is a Joy Fold Card.  I believe the Joy Fold came from Marie Kondo and the KonMarie folding method of shirts.

03.24.20 Easter Promise openingThe card is actually a card inside a card.  Can you see in the view to the left that the Daffodil Delight card is starting to open?  What is different is that the inner card opens to the left – not the right as we normally see.

To ease the process of adhering the die-cut sentiment wording, Sizzix Adhesive is layered on the underside.

03.24.20 Easter Promise openThis is the card fully open.  Note the fluttering crocus that match the crocus on the envelope.  Instead of a message, I chose to die-cut a 2-color cross.  An alternate message layer is shown below.  Although very faint, both white layers are sponged with Pear Pizzazz

03.24.20 Easter Promise Alternate Message layerIf preferred, this message can be stamped in place of the 2-color die-cut cross shown above.  This

This is a very uplifting card and the Joy Fold makes it different.  I do have Daffodil Delight twine that I discovered that I prefer over the thin Mossy Meadow twine bow.

Sale-A-Brations ends March 31, 2020.  As a reminder, any SU purchase of $50 or over qualifies you for a Sale-A-Brations item. The 3rd release of items started today.  Click here to see all the items available Sale-A-Brations 2020

Let’s move on to the Welcome Easter Blog Post.

Safe Blessings, Rosemary (h)630.759.3089 – (c)630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com
