BUTTERFLY NOTE CARD (case’d from Lisa Curcio)

02.24.19 butterfly envelopeI love this envelope-style butterfly card.  The beautiful background paper is the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (DSP).  This 12 sheet, 12 X 12 package contains 2 each of 6 double-sided designs and is only available with the Sale-A-Brations special.  If you purchase $50 of SU products before March 31st, this beautiful paper could be yours!  The DSP is slit in the center and then folded back as shown.  This is layered onto Whisper White DSP and then onto the Grapefruit Grove card.  The DSP features beautiful butterflies that coordinate with the Butterfly Duet Punch (on backorder).  I spent a pleasant afternoon punching out both larger and smaller butterflies to use on our cards.  The sample features a blue scallop oval layered with a black oval although any color scallop oval can be used.  The butterfly is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I have even put black antennae on the butterflies and will be happy to share my secret at March Stamp Camp.

Is this a card you would like to make?  Let me know and I will make sure to include it in your kit.  I know I asked folks at February Stamp Camp which cards they wanted to make, but unfortunately, I lost the list!

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  I look forward to seeing you at our Bunches of Butterflies Stamp Camp

BUTTERFLIES & FOIL

March Stamp Camp is titled Bunches of Butterflies.  Butterflies help us remember that spring really is just around the corner – just 24 days as of today.

March 19 metal 1This is a card that sparkles.  The “Beauty Abounds Cling Bundle” provides the butterflies and the Grapefruit Grove foil sheets from the Sale-A-Bration special, provide the sparkle.  The Whisper White top layer is stamped in Merry Merlot and Grapefruit Grove and is layered on Grapefruit Grove and Merry Merlot cs.  The top layer of butterflies is die cut on Merry Merlot and the bottom butterflies are die cut on Grapefruit Grove foil.  The merlot butterflies are carefully adhered to the grapefruit butterflies and adhered to stamped white layer.  Rhinestones are added to give a bit more sparkle.  The sentiment is stamped and die cut with a stitched circle framelit and adhered to a small piece of 5/8” Whisper White flax ribbon.

02.24.19 foil on topThe second offering reverses the Merry Merlot and Grapefruit Grove foil butterfly layers.  This card simply gleams.  The background is stamped the same as the previous sample.  Rhinestones are not added as there is there is sufficient sparkle from the foil.

To prep for this card, there will be Merry Merlot and Grapefruit Grove foil adhered to the Sizzix adhesive sheets.  This will alleviate gluing the top butterfly layer to the bottom.

March Stamp Camp is just around the corner – March 7th from 12N – 6 pm. March 8th from 2 pm – 6 pm, and March 9th from 9 am – 4 pm.  If you have a date/time conflict, please let me know and we can set up an alternate time.  The cost is $14 and includes everything you will need to make your Bunches of Butterflies

Sale-A-Bration continues until March 31st.  A second release is now available with Sale-A-Bration.  You can see all the available Sale-A-Bration products at 2019 Sale-A-Bration.  My favs for the second release are:

02.24.19 emb folderCOUNTRY FLORAL DYNAMIC TEXTURED IMPRESSIONS EMBOSSING FOLDER

This embossing folder is the best thing since the Big Shot!  We will be doing a card with this embossing folder in April or May.  The floral impression is absolutely beautiful.

02.24.19 100 offeringThis item is the Painted Seasons Bundle.  This didn’t “WOW” me at first.  However, as the matching dies became available at additional cost, I started seeing cards and other creative ideas that I absolutely loved.  So this has become my second favorite item from the second release.

And don’t forget that I am offering 20% on all SU paper products until the end of February.

Hope to see you at March Stamp Camp!

Garden Butterfly

Having less than 2 weeks between Christmas in July and August Stamp Camp put me in a bit of a panic!  I had 3 cards planned out but what about card 4?  When push comes to shove, reach for the two-sided Designer Series Paper (DSP).

WP_20180726_15_17_04_Pro (2)  With the help of Garden Impressions 6 X 6 DSP, the Garden Butterfly card was born!

WP_20180726_16_28_44_Pro (2)The new colors Shaded Spruce and Soft Sea Foam work well with the DSP for the card and top layer.  I chose this cheerful Pacific Point and So Saffron print.  A large scalloped circle was cut from the DSP allowing the Soft Sea Foam layer to show thru.  The butterfly dies are long retired but still product beautiful results.  For this card, a butterfly of the DSP was layered on a Pacific Point butterfly; both were brushed with Wink of Stella.  A cheery yellow bow was attached along with a Birthday Wishes sentiment from the Varied Bases set.

WP_20180726_16_22_54_Pro (3)I realize not everyone loves flowers the way I do.  When you flip the flower side of the Garden Impressions DSP over, you find a non-flower but still beautiful design.  You can combine the 2 sides by having a layer of one side and a butterfly of the other.  Or, you can keep them the same as I have on these 2 cards.  As shown above, there are many beautiful patterns of the Garden Impressions DSP.

I will be taking pictures of the last 2 cards in the morning so the last 2 blog posts will come out tomorrow.  Don’t forget to let me know if you will be coming to August Stamp Camp.  Our 4th project will be a Christmas card.  Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

BEAUTIFUL DAY meets POP ART and BRUSHO

I will admit that I was out of my comfort zone with this project.  So I told myself – YOU CAN DO THIS – and I DID!  Actually, it is fun to play with Brusho as there are no rules – just enjoy the color!

WP_20180321_16_20_01_Pro 1This was my first cards – done in red and yellow Brusho on watercolor paper.  The butterfly had been wet embossed in white and because of emboss-resist, the Brusho did not adhere to the embossed butterfly.  I experimented with several colors of embossing powder, but the white gives the best results.  I did add the gold metallic “celebrate you” but I think that may have been overkill.

WP_20180321_15_56_57_Pro 1This second sample has a bit of orange added. Note how I have toned my color down some from the original card. The embellishments are limited to retired candy dots in yellow and red.

Butterflies and roses from the Beautiful Day stamp set have been white embossed on watercolor paper and also on shimmery white so you can choose which you want.  The watercolor paper gives you a rough finish while the shimmery white is smoother and – well, shimmery!

WP_20180321_15_59_09_Pro 1This sample was watercolored with aqua painters and diluted Brusho from a paint palette.  The color was simply brushed on lightly.  A paper towel could be used to wipe off any excess and speed up the drying process.  As I noted before, there are no rules with Brusho.  You can have pop art as noted above or a peaceful watercolor as seen here.  The choice is yours.  I have quite a few samples including one in blue and yellow.  I tend to gravitate toward the red and yellow.

WOW!  Quite an assortment for April Stamp Camp!  A flower card, birds, a beach scene and some pop art!!!!  April Stamp Camp will be on Thursday April 5th from 1 to 7 pm, Friday April 6th from 2 to 7 pm, and Saturday April 7th from 9 am to 4 pm.  Come for the laughs, stay for the cards!  Cost remains $12 which covers everything you will need including water, coffee, and soda pop.

Please let me know which day you might be attending as it helps my planning.  I look forward to seeing each of you.  Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Summer Roses

I am amazed at the beautiful rose crafts that are being made with the Rose Garden Thinlit Dies.  The Rose Wonder stamp set is great, but it is the rose thinlits that do all the work.  For our May Stamp Camp, we will be doing 2 cards that use the Rose Garden Thinlit Dies.  These are wonderful cards to honor the women in our lives.

2016.04.30 Formal RoseThe first card is a tad bit formal.  Done in Smoky Slate, Blushing Bride and Whisper White, the Rose Garden Thinlit Die highlights the use of  negative space.  The rose actually slips into the die cut cs like a puzzle piece.  Embellishments are limited to 2 pink butterflies and a few pearls.  The message is stamped on white scrap in Archival Basic Gray, and outlined in Smoky Slate.  The matching die from the Rose Garden Thinlit Dies makes this sentiment a breeze.

I have seen the rose die used many different ways.

2016.04.30 Watercolor Rose 1

I have seen this rose die used many different ways.  I thought it might be fun to do a watercolor background and let the negative space feature the blended colors.  This is almost a sunrise background with a Crushed Curry rose.  After wetting my watercolor cs, I started with a dab of Daffodil Delight and swirled it around on the cs.  Then I added a bit of Tangelo Twist and finally some Real Red.  Additional water is added and the Aqua Pen blends the colors beautifully.  The watercolor cs has a thin border of Basic Black which accents the colors and keeps them from blending into the Melon Mambo card

2016.04.30 Watercolor Rose2This card features a background of Melon Mambo, Island Indigo, and Garden Green.  The Melon Mambo decided to form a “hurricane” and flows to the bottom of the watercolor cs.  The Garden Green is noted in the bottom left corner.  The mixed colors appear slightly lavender and Elegant Eggplant cs is used for both the rose and the card.  The sentiment is stamped on white scrap, outlined in Melon Mambo and die cut with the matching thinlit.  A few butterflies are added for interest.  Although very hard to see, the negative space of the rose has been colored with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush and sparkles in the light.

2016.04.30 Watercolor Rose 3This striking birthday card features a background of Tempting Turquoise, Real Red and Tangerine Tango.  Pacific Point cs gives us a striking rose and a Melon Mambo card coordinates well.  Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush is used to color the actual rose outline and the negative space of the rose.  Note the thin gold strands under the birthday sentiment.  This is the marvelous gold metallic thread.  I purchased it in both gold and silver and like it so well that I ordered an extra roll of each in case it is not carried over to the new catalog which will be out the beginning of June.  Lots of surprises coming!!!!

2016.04.30 Watercolor Rose4

The final sample is monochromatic done in Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, and Wisteria Wonder.  I was surprised how much blue is in these colors.  The card features a Melon Mambo rose and is on a Perfect Plum card.  Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush is used is color in all the negative space as well as the rose outline.  Water coloring can be wet, messy work.  This is a good stamp camp to wear really old clothes!!!  My hands were multi-colored by the time I had water-colored all the samples.

2016.04.30 Watercolor Rose sentiment

The Rose Garden Thinlits Dies also includes a smaller rose die seen here on the sentiment layer.  One or two of these roses could be used on a card front.  There is a stem of negative space leaves and a small flower die as well as the label die included in this set.

I hope you can attend the May Stamp Camp.  We are doing 2 additional fun cards not shown here.  Dates and times are Thursday May 5 from 12 Noon to 9 PM, Friday May 6 from 2 –9 PM, and Saturday May 7 from 9 AM to 9 PM.  If you know what day you might come, it is helpful – but not required – if you can let me know.  The cost remains $12 and includes all tools and supplies.  If you would like a kit prepared, the cost is the same.

Don’t forget that the current catalogs are discontinued on May 31st.  The new catalog is available online on June 1st.  I will notify you when my catalogs are in and you can stop by and pick one up.  Check out the retiring list at 2016 Retiring SU items.  Some items have been discounted.

Mark your calendars now for June Stamp Camp – masculine cards for the men in our lives.  Dates are June 2, 3, and 4.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  Hope to see you on May 5, 6 or 7.

SPRING WREATH

The Circle of Spring stamp set helps us create a beautiful spring wreath.  Even better is the compatibility with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits Dies – a set we used Christmas 2014.

2016-02-28 2016-02-28 001 005This Elegant Eggplant and Daffodil Delight card is the epitome of springtime.  Although very hard to see, the wreath hangs on a brick wall.  I’m sure you have never seen an eggplant brick wall, but I liked the color combination.  Spectrum Noir markers are used to color the wreath, bow and flowers.  Dimensionals under the wreath and flowers add the 3-D effect.  Wink of Stella was used on some of the flowers, bow and butterfly.  The wealth of Spectrum Noir marker colors allow you many choices.

2016-02-28 2016-02-28 001 004This is another version of the Circle of Spring wreath card.  More red was used which gives a very bright finish.  Wink of Stella was again used to provide the glittery interest.

Speaking of Wink of Stella – several of you had ordered this easy to use glitter brush.  When I went to place the order, I discovered this item was on backorder, and there was no anticipated delivery date.  In fact, there still is no anticipated date.  So I reached out to Amazon and was able to order the exact same item, packaging and all for $6.90 which includes tax.  So I have 6 for sale at $6.90 each if you are interested.  Wink of Stella is also available in colors.  I have the pink, yellow and green which you are welcome to try.  However, I only have the clear for sale.  I love this product and feel it can add much to a project if used judiciously.

Hope to see you at March Stamp Camp.  Let me know in advance if you need a kit – available for $12.00.  Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions or concerns.

EASTER LAMB

2016-02-28 2016-02-28 001 009Easter Lamb is a darling card – just perfect for Easter.  I have 3 different cards from this set.  Each with slightly different embellishments.  The colors used on this card are not a combination I would have thought of.  However, I saw another card similar to this that used Watermelon Wonder and Blushing Bride, and I found the combination quite striking.  The chalk marker was used on the “curly lamb’s wool” which makes it jump out at you.  I was able to stamp  the image on Smoky slate, color the wool, grass and a bit of pink in the ears, and photocopy it on to white cs.  So, the work is already done for you!!!!  If you choose, you can add a bit more chalk, green, and pink markers.  Note the Watermelon banners used.

2016-02-28 2016-02-28 001 010In this second view, everything remains the same with the exception of the circle around the lamb, and the use of a bitty butterfly with pearls.  Note the Watermelon banners used. A strip of Blushing Bride from the Love Blossoms DSP stack and the Gently Falling Embossing Folder add background interest. The butterfly also is cut from the Love Blossoms DSP stack and adds a soft touch. This card may look difficult, but it is truly simple.

SAMSUNG CSCThe third and final view of Easter Lamb features a Blushing Bride scallop circle around the lamb and 2 pearls on the top banner.  Happy Easter is stamped on Smoky Slate and receives a different banner treatment.  Note the small flower in the lower left corner, punched from the Love Blossoms DSP stack and embellished with a pearl.

All 3 cards are very similar, but each has small differences.  The inside sentiment sheet can be embellished to coordinate with the front – a strip of matching DSP, a flower or two, or butterflies.  You can design your own!

I hope to see you for March Stamp Camp.  Let me know if you have any questions or if you would rather make 2 of the Easter Lamb cards instead of the Easter Garden featured on the previous blog.
