TEALIGHT CHRISTMAS

Well, Crafters, it’s hard to believe our stamping year is almost over.  We’ve created hearts, lots of flowers, pumpkins, snowmen, cars, snow globes, and now it’s time for angels.  This is the first time in my 15 years with Stampin’Up that I have offered a tealight card but it seems so perfect with our angels.  I decided to make the cards tone on tone versus trying for contrast.  All of the Designer Series Paper is from the Brightly Gleaming Specialty collection.  Our first sample is in Cherry Cobbler and Copper.

The  sample to the left is in Night of Navy and Copper.  We are running a bit short on copper as Stampin’Up has it currently on back order with a warehouse delivery date of December 2.  I’ve reduced the copper decorative side pieces to 3/4” X 5 1/4”.  A 1” strip would be a bit easier to die cut but the 3/4” will work.  The first step in making this lovely card is to adhere the DSP to the card front with a REMOVABLE adhesive.  That allows us to die cut the center opening with matching layers.  The angels will be pre-stamped as it takes time for them to dry as it does anything stamped on vellum.  The stamped vellum is “sandwiched” between the DSP and the top card layer. 

The die cut lantern is adhered over the angel “sandwich”.  I used liquid adhesive on the back of my lantern and found that by squeezing out a small amount of glue on my silicone craft sheet, by using a toothpick, I can easily put small dots around the back of the lantern and it sticks beautifully.  However, accidents do happen.  If you look closely at my samples, you might notice little additions that were used to cover up my adhesive mishaps. 

The Pretty Peacock sample to the left is quite attractive.  Peacock is one of the trending colors this year.  The angels stamped on the vellum come from 2 very old stamp sets that I refuse to part with.

I refer to the angel used in the samples above as the “classic angel” and the angel in the Old Olive sample to the right, as the “Littlest Angel.”  The classic angels are stamped in the wonderful Celestial Copper Ink.  I’m hoping Stampin’Up carries the Delicata Metallic Inks over into the next season as the copper, gold and silver are all wonderful.  The littlest angel is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Stampin’ Blends.  I’m embarrassed to say that I colored on the front of the vellum instead of the back but she still turned out cute. 

The final sample from the Brightly Gleaming Designer Paper is my least favorite.  First, the paper is too busy for this card and second, instead of using the sentiment from Toile Christmas that was used for the angel samples, I used the Merry Christmas ribbon and it is not my favorite.  However, this sample shows the candle which is actually die cut from gold glimmer and “sandwiched” between 2 layers of vellum.  The candle can be substituted for the angel on any of the cards. 

You can do multiple cards but I will only be supplying 1 tealight.  All of the big box store should have them available.  The ones we will be using for stamp camp are from Hobby Lobby.  In case you are wondering when December Stamp Camp will be, the dates/times are:  Thursday December 5th from 11 am – 6 pm, Friday December 6th from 12 noon – 6 pm, and Saturday December 7th from 9 am – 4 pm.  We will also be making cute calendars for 2020.  These are perfect for stocking stuffers, are sized at 5 1/2 X 4 1/4 and fit perfectly in our standard A2 envelopes. 

Please let me know if you plan on coming to December Stamp Camp,  I want to make sure I have enough classic angels and littlest angels stamped, but don’t want to waste vellum.  The angels need to be pre-stamped to allow them time to dry.  The price remains $14 for 1 card and a pack of calendars.  If you choose to do no calendars and want to make 4 cards, that is fine.  If you want to do multiple cards and calendars, I will need to come up with a reasonable price.  Stay tuned for the blog post on our calendars. 

For the first time ever, I am offering a stamping class in January but we will be doing Iris Folding.  The class will be held on January 17th and January 19th with a limit of 5 crafters for each class. We will make 2 cards.  I will have iris folding samples out at December Stamp Camp.  At this exact moment, I’m not sure what the cards will be but I will announce the card theme shortly.
