MERRY GINGERBREAD–Christmas in July

06.19.19 Xmas July Ging frontMerry Gingerbread looks good enough to eat!  This fun fold Z-card features a cute gingerbread guy and gal.  The little boy is embellished with a red glitter bow tie and gold buttons while the girl is festooned with a gold glitter hair bow and red rhinestone necklace.  The duo are layered on Sparkle Glimmer Paper and red cs.  A festive gingerbread house is perched in the corner.

06.19.19 Xmas July Ging partThis view shows the Z form.  Additionally, you can see how the Christmas designer paper carries thru to the inside of the card.  The Z-card feature is circular in shape unlike the square or rectangle we normally see.  Our gingerbread stamp set is retired as is the designer paper.  The set includes several other holiday figures including a Santa Clause, Eskimo, bear and the moose head stamped on the envelope above.

06.19.19 Xmas July Ging openSo, you may be saying to yourself:  “And what have you done to help me make this card?”  Answer:  The cs and designer paper have been scored and cut, the Sparkle Glimmer scallops and red circles have been cut, the gingerbread houses are cut (thanks to the Scan’N’Cut), the gingerbread people are stamped and ready for the Scan’N’Cut to do its job tomorrow.  The bow ties, buttons and hair bows will be punched out.  All you have to do is put this cute card together – a bit of adhesive here and there and you are done!

The dates for this annual Stamp Camp are July 18 & 20 – Thursday July 18 from 12 N – 7 PM and Saturday July 20 from 9 AM – 4 PM. Please please please provide me with a firm count on how many you wish to do of each card.  Merry Gingerbread is card #2.  I will repost the prices in the post for card #3 – Peace.  Check back shortly.

06.19.19 Xmas July OrnamentOur first card is Beautiful Baubles.  The ornament comes from the “Detailed Baubles Thinlits Dies” that is currently on the Stampin’Up Clearance Rack for $18.  This Night of Navy and Whisper White card features a silver and navy ornament embellished with a silver and white satin bow.  The Whisper White cs is tufted-embossed and glitters with blue rhinestones and Sparkle Glimmer Paper.

So – you may be asking “What have you done to help me create this card?”  Answer:  The paper is cut and embossed, the bows are made, the die cuts are done, the sentiments have been stamped and cut, and the rhinestones have been colored!  All you have to do is take the pieces and adhere them onto the card!  Easy Peasy!

A CLASSIC CAR

05.21.19 Orange CarIt’s been quite awhile since we’ve done an easel card.  Debbie designed these cards using the “Geared Up Garage” stamp set and coordinating dies.  She chose a color scheme of Graphite Gray, Pacific Point, and silver and black foils.  This card is all about gears – definitely a guy thing although I am sure there are many gals out there that know more about cars and gears than some guys do.  Note the “tire” Debbie used to “prop up” the easel.  05.21.19 Car embellishment small

I thought I had ordered the Classic Garage Metal Elements that coordinate with this bundle – but we couldn’t find them (they were hidden in a drawer).  Debbie was going to use a tiny metal key as the easel prop.  No key could be found so she took a small silver metal button, but apart a black foil gear, and came up with a clever wheel!  Hats off to Debbie!

05.21.19 Red CarOn our second sample, we can see the metal key acting as the easel prop.  Of course nowadays, many cars don’t use keys but for a classic car, a key is the way to go.  The cars have been colored with Stampin’ Blends – orange above and red to the right.  Wink of Stella adds a glittery sheen to the colors.  You can color your car your favorite color – yellow?  green?  brown or black?  And you can choose or make your own prop for your easel card

05.21.19 Car red If easel cards are new to you, perhaps this side view will help.  Your measurements are the same as for any horizontal A2 card – 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4”.  However, you add an extra score at 3” and that is where your card starts to rise.  The top layer is 5 1/4 X 4 but is only adhered to the card front to the 3” score line.  The small metal key or the tire Debbie constructed act as the prop to hold the easel in place.  This card would be perfect for a birthday, Father’s Day, or just to show someone you appreciate them.

Now that you’ve seen the 4 cards for June Stamp Camp, please let me know which day you are coming and how many of each card you wish to do.  The cost remains $14 for any 4 cards and $3 for each additional card.  The cost includes all supplies and materials.  There will be a snack on the kitchen counter so no one starves, and water and soda pop are in the fridge.

Let’s discuss some dates

June 4th – The new 2019-2020 SU catalog takes effect.  At this time, I don’t know if retiring items will go on the clearance rack at a discounted rate, or not.  I have the new catalogs.

June 6, 7, 8th – June Stamp Camp.  June 6th from 12 Noon – 6 PM.  June 7th from 2 – 6 PM.  June 8th from 9 PM – 4 PM.

July 18 & 20 – Christmas in July.  Thursday July 18 from 12 N – 7 PM and Saturday July 20 from 9 AM – 4 PM.  The 4 cards will be out at June Stamp Camp and will be posted to the blog in June.  I will need a firm count on how many you will want to do of each card.  Prices will be available shortly.

August 1, 2, 3rd – August Stamp Camp.  We will be doing late summer cards – a bicycle card, a hanging flower basket card, and a flip/flop card.  Our 4th card may be a Christmas Card.  We will definitely be including Christmas cards at our September – October and November Stamp Camps.

Hope to see you next week!

LILYPAD LAKE

With all the rain we’ve been having, some days when I look out in the back yard, it looks similar to our Lilypad Lake card

05.21.19 Lilypad Lake 1Blue water, sailboats in the distance, a sunny sky with birds flying overhead, a pelican and vegetation at water’s edge – what more can you ask for?  “Lilypad Lake” is a fun card to make.  You can have a single sailboat or perhaps a regatta taking place.  The sunny sky is sponged on shimmery white cs giving a sparkly look.  The lake is stamped in Bermuda Bay and Pool Party on shimmery white.  The beach area is stamped is Soft Suede.  I constructed a larger bush by adhering 3 green bushes together.  The bush hides the tip of the pelican’s tail.  A lilypad features 2 flowers that brighten up the lake scene.  Additional bushes pop up behind the lilypad.

05.21.19 Lilypad Lake 2 All of our cards will be a bit different.  Notice the lighter sunny sky and bird placement compared to the scene above.  Although I chose to color my boats the same in both scenes, the card to my right features a gray pelican with Lovely Lipstick and Pineapple Punch flowers.  My bush construction here resulted in a bush taller than the pelican. You can make your card however wish.  If you need assistance with the coloring or sponging, please ask.   I am more than happy to help with any part of your card construction.  The goal is to have the sailboats, pelicans, lilypads, and bushes pre-cut for you.

As a reminder, June Stamp Camp is Thursday June 6th from 12 N – 6 pm, Friday June 7th from 2 – 6 pm, and Saturday June 8 from 9am – 4 pm.  I am happy to schedule an alternate date/time if you are unable to come during the planned hours.

The new 2019-2020 Stampin’Up catalogs are here and you can pick up yours at stamp camp or earlier if you are in the area. The deadline for ordering from the current catalog is June 3rd.  And when items run out that are not being carried over to the new catalog, those items are not being replenished.  However, many sets are being carried over to the new book plus lots of new stamp sets, dies, ribbons and embellishments will become available June 4th.

In my spare time, I have been working on Christmas in July.  Card #1 is done and card #2 is almost done.  I’m having issues getting in the Christmas spirit with all the rain and thunder.  I know the hail is white but it certainly does not look or feel like softly fallen snow.  Mark your calendars now for this annual Christmas card-making event – Thursday July 18 from 12 noon – 7 pm and Saturday July 20 from 9 am to 4 pm.  I am unable to give a price at this time as I haven’t finished designing the cards.  The cards and a sign-up sheet will be available at June Stamp Camp.

2 more blog posts will be coming soon.

LASTING LILY

The Paper Rose theme for April is “Welcome Spring” and this card certainly looks like spring!  “Lasting Lily” is one of the new “DISTINKTIVE” stamps from Stampin’Up.

“DISTINKTIVE” stamps give you photo-realistic images with just one stamp. They have a special texture that gives added depth and dimension in a single step. These stamps are available only from Stampin’ Up! and are made using a patent-pending process.  DISTINKTIVE stamps are available in red rubber and photopolymer; Paper Pumpkin’s April kit includes photopolymer stamps.  Shop “DISTINKTIVE” stamps in the online store by searching “DISTINKTIVE,” or look for the “DISTINKTIVE” icon in Stampin’ Up! catalogs.

20190318_194432761_iOSThis lovely card features an open lily and a bud stamped in Daffodil Delight.  Can you see the definition in the lily and in the Granny Apple Green leaves? I purchased the framelits for Lasting Lily before they sold out.  Having the abiity to die cut the images is something I enjoy.  However, these would be very simple to fussy cut.  This set is part of Sale-A-Brations and will be gone after March 31st.  I chose to make a frame to showcase the lilies.  I used the stitched rectangular dies to cut the shape and then ran the frame thru the Big Shot with the Country Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The die cut lily images were adhered to 5 X 3 3/4” Whisper White cs and the frame was adhered over the art work with SU Foam Adhesive Strips.  A butterfly from the Sale-A-Bration Botanical Butterfly was added to provide eye appeal.  Although this makes a perfect sympathy card, I have chosen to use my Lasting Lily card for Easter.  I love the detail this set provides and I look forward to stamping more “distinctive” stamps in the future.

The main Stampin’Up catalog is thru June 3, 2019.  As the 2017-2019 In Colors will retire at that time, I would suggest you purchase any card stock, inks, embellishments in these colors now.  As in the past, these retiring colors tend to sell out before the retirement date and then it is too late.  The smaller Occasions Catalog also retires June 3rd.  I think the “Tea Together” stamp set is carrying over as is the butterfly Duet Punch and the Cake Builder Punch.  Other items may sell out before June 3rd so if there is something you feel would enhance your craft library, now is the time to purchase it.

03.25.19 InColors

Looking forward to seeing you on April 4th, 5th and/or 6th!  Blessings, Rosemary – (home)630.759.3089 – (cell)630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

FOREVER LOVELY (Cas’d from Patty Bennett)

Patty Bennett is one of the top 10 Stampin’ Up demonstrators.  She is located in the San Francisco area and I admire many of her creations.  Generally when I CAS a card, I make many changes.  However, this is an exact copy of Patty’s card although our measurements may differ slightly.  I must mention, that this is NOT a 5-minute card – patience is a must.

01.20.19 Forever Lovely 2This card is truly Forever Lovely.  Done in Lovely Lipstick, Whisper White and Flirty Flamingo, it is the perfect card not only for Valentine’s Day but also for a birthday or a wonderful pick-me-up.  How would you feel if you received this card from a friend?  The card features the Forever Lovely Suite shown here in the new Occasions Catalog.  We start with a 4 X 2 piece of Lovely Lipstick and die cut the Edgelit of the roses and leaves. The challenging part it to make sure your edgelit is on straight.  I use bits of Washi Tape to insure my die does not move.

01.20.19 Forever Lovely 1After the Lovely Lipstick is cut, I place it up against the Whisper White top layer and after insuring the white layer is straight, I use Washi Tape to hold the die of roses and leaves in place making sure it matches the cut Lovely Lipstick Edgelit.  The Precision Base Plate is used to die cut this image.  Although hard to see, the die also embosses some floral images.  The Lovely Lipstick image is adhered to the Whisper White layer and “All My Love” DSP is tucked into the end.  You have two choices of the DSP to choose from. White trimmed Lovely Lipstick 1/2” ribbon is knotted either around the white layer or around the entire card front.  Two Heart Epoxy Droplets are colored with Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blends, allowed to dry, and then placed on the card front.

As a reminder, February Stamp Camp is Thursday February 7th from 12 noon to 6 pm, Friday February 8th from 2 to 6 pm, and Saturday February 9th from 9 am to 4 pm.  If these times don’t work for you, please let me know and we can rearrange the schedule.

In case you missed my previous e-mail and blog posts, I have made the hard decision to increase the price of Stamp Camp to $14.  I have kept the $12 price for years but with everything creeping up in price, I am forced to increase to $14.

Remember it’s Sale-A-Bration time.  Through  March 31, for every $50 in product you purchase from Stampin’ Up, you can choose something free from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.  There is foil, ribbon, and stamps to choose from.  There are 2 more detailed items available if you purchase $100 in product.  Check it out here at Sale-A-Bration.

To help you choose something free from Sale-A-Bration, I am discounting all Stampin’ Up card stock, DSP, specialty papers, etc. by an extra 10% for the month of February. As this is a Paper Rose discount, orders will need to come through me.  This is the time to stock up on those basics you use throughout the year!

I am very excited about our March Stamp Camp – “Bunches of Butterflies!”  We will see butterflies, butterflies, and more butterflies!.  The dates for March Stamp Camp are March 7, 8 and 9.  I am working on the 2019 calendar and will soon have it done.

Hope to see you next month!

JUST FUR YOU

Hmmm…I was just reading that the color for 2019 is coral.  Coral is okay in my book but I much prefer pink.  The Stampin’ Up Flirty Flamingo is a pinky coral and we will be using it on this card as well as another of our February cards.  The next card/s is for the pet lover in our lives.  I happen to be a cat person, but I know many folks have different pets and love them dearly.

01.20.19 Just Fur You bothOur first card is for the pet lover who loves both cats and dogs.  These new animal sets are found in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  “Nine Lives is featured on page 32 and Happy Tails is on page 33.  These pets can be stamped as seen here or other images including spots and color variations can be used.  In addition, there are assorted messages and other pet items that can be incorporated.  There is a punch for the cat that we used last year and a new “Dog Builder Punch”.  These are basic stamps and punches that never go out of style.  I love some of the sentiments:  “Keep calm and wag on, “A friend like you comes around ONCE in nine lives, “A Best Friend Leaves A Paw Print on your Heart,” and more. These stamps are great for any occasion.  I can picture this done in red and green for Christmas with a red bow on the cat and a holiday leash on the dog.

01.20.19 Just Fur You catDaughter Debbie designed these cards in Pretty in Pink (Ret), Lovely Lipstick, and a bit of Flirty Flamingo Designer Paper from the new “All My Love” DSP series.  A retired heart punch borders our pet/s which are popped up on Lovely Lipstick and Whisper White scalloped ovals.  The white cardstock has been dry embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder (my fav).  Lovely Lipstick 1/8” ribbon covers the seams under the ovals.  The animals are colored with Stampin’ Blends and could be highlighted with touches of Wink of Stella for a bit of glimmer.  The sentiment “JUST FUR YOU!” is perfect for any occasion

01.20.19 Just Fur You dogAnd finally, we see our pet pooch – perched regally on our card.  A Lovely Lipstick leash would be cute stamped on his neck.  There is also a paw image stamp that could be incorporated on the front or inside of this canine card.

I hope you can make it to our February Stamp.  Although we have a valentine theme, these cards could be used for other occasions.  February Stamp Camp will be held on Thursday February 7th from 12 noon to 6 pm, Friday February 8th from 2 to 6 pm, and Saturday February 9th from 9 am to 4 pm.  If these times don’t work for you, please let me know and we can rearrange the schedule.

Sale-A-Bration is taking place until March 31.  With each $50 Stampin’Up purchase (before tax and shipping), you choose a free item from the current Sale-A-Bration brochure. To help you take advantage of Sale-A-Bration, for the month of February, I am discounting all Stampin’ Up cardstock/paper by an ADDITIONAL 10%.  This means all card stock, DSP, foils, vellum, glimmer, watercolor paper, etc. will be 20% off.  This is a discount offered by Paper Rose so orders will need to be placed thru me.  You can see the pamphlet of freebies at 2019 Sale-A-Brations.

As noted in the e-mail I sent out yesterday, I have made the decision to increase the price of Stamp Camp to $14.  This was a hard decision to make, but everything is slowly rising in cost.  I have kept the Stamp Camp price at $12 for years.  This allows us to continue using the high quality paper, stamps, dies and embellishments sold by Stampin’Up.  The $14 covers everything – supplies, tools and my humor, knowledge and loving touch.  Additional cards above the 4 for Stamp Camp will be $3.

Stay warm my crafty friends!
