RETRO VALENTINE

01.17.21 Retro Girl Valentine card frontThis print seems so large but what I was using was too small.  I’m using my new laptop so it’s trial and error time.

I call this valentine “Retro Girl.”  She is copied from the Graphic Fairy Website that I subscribe to.  The Scan’nCut did the cutting for us and a 2-layer glimmer heart is her flower.  Tiny pink pearls festoon her skirt and hair bow.  Wink of Stella adds glimmer and the retired Falling Hearts embossing folder gives us texture and dimension.

01.17.21 Retro Girl Valentine message layerThe message layer features a pink glimmer heart and a stamped white heart that can be layered on the Rococo Rose punched heart.  The messages for the cards you have seen thus far can be interchanged as you wish.  I miss not having you here so you can choose and stamp the messages yourself.

One card left – stay tuned!

LOVE YOU ALWAYS

01.17.21 Black and White card frontI love black and white!  This combination is a WOW!  The Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the True Love DSP jumps at me.  The ornate heart from the Floral Heart Dies is simply beautiful.  The embossed sentiment pops at you from the unique banner that is scored and folded to provide the 3-D effect.  This card is not at all difficult.  You layer paper, adhere the heart flat, fold the embossed message on the score lines and adhere to the card front.

01.17.21 Black and White messageThe message layer gives us a little bit of color with a scalloped heart that can be layered to the white stamped heart if you choose.  A strip of matching DSP ties the front and message layers together.

As I mentioned earlier, cards should be ready for pickup by 1.27.21 and I will notify you if they are ready earlier.  It’s helpful if you can let me know as soon as you have decided which cards you choose to make.  Feel free to text me at 630.965,1965.  Stay well!

BEE MINE

01.31.20 Be MineBee Mine comes from the new Honey Bee stamp set.  The gorgeous designer paper is FREE with the current Sale-A-Brations special.  When you purchase at least $50 in product, this Golden Honey DSP is one of the free items you can choose from.

I thought this would be a cute card to do for Valentine’s Day although most sentiments would be appropriate.  Gold metallic foil is perfect for die-cutting the honeycomb shape.  Gold shimmer ribbon attaches the DSP to the Real Red frame and is tied in a shoestring bow.  The bees are stamped in black and colored in Crushed Curry and Wink of Stella.

01.31.20 Bee MineThe sample above features the sentiment BE MINE stamped  in red and punched out with the triple banner punch.  The sample to the right features the BEE MINE sentiment which is die-cut with small Sizzix dies on adhesive backed cs and adhered to a punched banner.  Small hearts and the requisite butterfly are die cut and added to the card front.   The message layer is embellished with more bees – stamped and die cut.

As a reminder, February Stamp Camp is Thursday February 6th from 11 am – 6 pm, Friday February 7th from 12 N – 6 pm, and Saturday February 8th from 9 am – 4 pm.  Come when you can and stay as long as you want.  Please let me know what day you plan on stopping by and what cards you choose to make.

2020–THE YEAR OF THE BUTTERFLY

Welcome crafters to the PAPERROSE YEAR OF THE BUTTERFLY!  All of our cards this year will feature a butterfly – maybe hidden or maybe in plain view!  That choice is up to you!  We are starting our crafting year with Valentines or whatever message you choose to use.

01.31.20 From My HeartFrom My Heart is a colorful card done in Real Red and Blushing Bride.  The From My Heart Specialty Designer Series Paper is framed in black and features lots of hearts. One of my many retired heart dies is used to center the card and a small die-cut heart glitters from the center.  The sentiment for this sample comes from the new Honey Bee set and is perfect for friends (even if they are not sweet).

01.31.20 From My Heart 2The second sample uses a sentiment – Sending Love – from the retired Sure Do Love You set. I simply can’t part with any of my retired Valentine sets so I use lots of older dies and stamps.

Do you see the butterfly in each card?

As you may be wondering when February Stamp Camp is going to be, it is actually right around the corner as I am embarrassingly late in posting my blogs.  To be truthful, I JUST finished the samples yesterday.  January is always a lazy month for me.  February Stamp Camp is Thursday February 6th from 11 am – 6 pm, Friday February 7th from 12 N – 6 pm, and Saturday February 8th from 9 am – 4 pm.  Come when you can and stay as long as you want – but no overnights, please.

As always, all supplies and tools are provided.  Soda pop and water are in the fridge.  A snack of some type magically appears in the kitchen thanks to my sweet hubby!!! The cost remains $14 for any 4 cards and $3.50 for each additional card.  This month, there is an add-on if you choose to purchase it.  Heart tins that come with your choice of embellishments are available for $2.00.  They are available if you choose to purchase one.  I have 18 left so when they are gone, there are no more.  Please let me know if you plan on coming and what cards you wish to do.  I will start cutting paper today.

What’s next for February Stamp Camp?  Bee Mine is coming up next!

IRIS FOLDING–4-Color Heart Triple

Welcome to Iris Folding where we work with origami and washi papers from Japan.  The only stamping we will do in our January Iris Folding class is the message.  We will use Stampin’Up card stock for the actual card and layers but these beautiful Japanese papers along with snips and tape will do the rest.

Iris Folding Valentine 1The first card for our January 16 and 18 workshop is titled  4-Color Heart Triple. I trimmed the pre-cut Iris Folding cs to allow for a black and a gold frame.  I used the SU retired Love Note border die on the right side of the card and added a gold strip to my message layer to carry the gold theme throughout the card.  3 SU gold metallic pearls were also used.  Note the use of peel-off stickers for the sentiment and the row of hearts at the bottom of the card.Iris Folding Valentine CloseThis is is a closeup of the finished iris folding.  Note the use of 4 papers – a crinkled gold, a red and gold, a red and white, and a red foil.  The red foil is actually florist foil used to wrap plant containers.  The crinkled gold is a beautiful soft paper and costs $1 per 6X6 sheet.  The red and gold comes from one of my favorite Japanese companies and costs $3 per sheet.  I did note that Target carries some origami papers as does Amazon.

Iris folding is not about making an iris but rather folding strips of colored paper in such a way to form a design.  The center of the design forms an iris – a shape reminiscent of the iris diaphragm of a camera lens.  The photographic lens in a camera is called an iris diaphragm.

If you have an interest in learning this technique, I hope you can come to one of the iris folding classes scheduled for January 16 (11AM – 4 PM) and January 18 (9AM – 4PM). There is a limit of 5 attendees for each day.  The cost is $9 for 2 cards, and all supplies and tools will be provided.  Please feel free to bring a snack.  As always, we will have an assortment of beverages.

Next, I will be posting the birthday card planned for the iris folding classes.  Please let me know if you plan on attending.  I will only cut paper for those who let me know in advance that they will be coming.  The better Japanese papers are expensive and I cannot easily reuse them for other projects the way I use extra SU card stock.

As a reminder, our regular Stamp Camp is scheduled for February 6, 7, and 8!  New stamps, dies and ideas!

Blessings, Rosemary – (h)630.759.3089 – (c)630,965,1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

FOREVER LOVELY (Cas’d from Patty Bennett)

Patty Bennett is one of the top 10 Stampin’ Up demonstrators.  She is located in the San Francisco area and I admire many of her creations.  Generally when I CAS a card, I make many changes.  However, this is an exact copy of Patty’s card although our measurements may differ slightly.  I must mention, that this is NOT a 5-minute card – patience is a must.

01.20.19 Forever Lovely 2This card is truly Forever Lovely.  Done in Lovely Lipstick, Whisper White and Flirty Flamingo, it is the perfect card not only for Valentine’s Day but also for a birthday or a wonderful pick-me-up.  How would you feel if you received this card from a friend?  The card features the Forever Lovely Suite shown here in the new Occasions Catalog.  We start with a 4 X 2 piece of Lovely Lipstick and die cut the Edgelit of the roses and leaves. The challenging part it to make sure your edgelit is on straight.  I use bits of Washi Tape to insure my die does not move.

01.20.19 Forever Lovely 1After the Lovely Lipstick is cut, I place it up against the Whisper White top layer and after insuring the white layer is straight, I use Washi Tape to hold the die of roses and leaves in place making sure it matches the cut Lovely Lipstick Edgelit.  The Precision Base Plate is used to die cut this image.  Although hard to see, the die also embosses some floral images.  The Lovely Lipstick image is adhered to the Whisper White layer and “All My Love” DSP is tucked into the end.  You have two choices of the DSP to choose from. White trimmed Lovely Lipstick 1/2” ribbon is knotted either around the white layer or around the entire card front.  Two Heart Epoxy Droplets are colored with Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blends, allowed to dry, and then placed on the card front.

As a reminder, February Stamp Camp is Thursday February 7th from 12 noon to 6 pm, Friday February 8th from 2 to 6 pm, and Saturday February 9th from 9 am to 4 pm.  If these times don’t work for you, please let me know and we can rearrange the schedule.

In case you missed my previous e-mail and blog posts, I have made the hard decision to increase the price of Stamp Camp to $14.  I have kept the $12 price for years but with everything creeping up in price, I am forced to increase to $14.

Remember it’s Sale-A-Bration time.  Through  March 31, for every $50 in product you purchase from Stampin’ Up, you can choose something free from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.  There is foil, ribbon, and stamps to choose from.  There are 2 more detailed items available if you purchase $100 in product.  Check it out here at Sale-A-Bration.

To help you choose something free from Sale-A-Bration, I am discounting all Stampin’ Up card stock, DSP, specialty papers, etc. by an extra 10% for the month of February. As this is a Paper Rose discount, orders will need to come through me.  This is the time to stock up on those basics you use throughout the year!

I am very excited about our March Stamp Camp – “Bunches of Butterflies!”  We will see butterflies, butterflies, and more butterflies!.  The dates for March Stamp Camp are March 7, 8 and 9.  I am working on the 2019 calendar and will soon have it done.

Hope to see you next month!

Blessings, Rosemary – (home)630.759.3089 – (cell)630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

JUST FUR YOU

Hmmm…I was just reading that the color for 2019 is coral.  Coral is okay in my book but I much prefer pink.  The Stampin’ Up Flirty Flamingo is a pinky coral and we will be using it on this card as well as another of our February cards.  The next card/s is for the pet lover in our lives.  I happen to be a cat person, but I know many folks have different pets and love them dearly.

01.20.19 Just Fur You bothOur first card is for the pet lover who loves both cats and dogs.  These new animal sets are found in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  “Nine Lives is featured on page 32 and Happy Tails is on page 33.  These pets can be stamped as seen here or other images including spots and color variations can be used.  In addition, there are assorted messages and other pet items that can be incorporated.  There is a punch for the cat that we used last year and a new “Dog Builder Punch”.  These are basic stamps and punches that never go out of style.  I love some of the sentiments:  “Keep calm and wag on, “A friend like you comes around ONCE in nine lives, “A Best Friend Leaves A Paw Print on your Heart,” and more. These stamps are great for any occasion.  I can picture this done in red and green for Christmas with a red bow on the cat and a holiday leash on the dog.

01.20.19 Just Fur You catDaughter Debbie designed these cards in Pretty in Pink (Ret), Lovely Lipstick, and a bit of Flirty Flamingo Designer Paper from the new “All My Love” DSP series.  A retired heart punch borders our pet/s which are popped up on Lovely Lipstick and Whisper White scalloped ovals.  The white cardstock has been dry embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder (my fav).  Lovely Lipstick 1/8” ribbon covers the seams under the ovals.  The animals are colored with Stampin’ Blends and could be highlighted with touches of Wink of Stella for a bit of glimmer.  The sentiment “JUST FUR YOU!” is perfect for any occasion

01.20.19 Just Fur You dogAnd finally, we see our pet pooch – perched regally on our card.  A Lovely Lipstick leash would be cute stamped on his neck.  There is also a paw image stamp that could be incorporated on the front or inside of this canine card.

I hope you can make it to our February Stamp.  Although we have a valentine theme, these cards could be used for other occasions.  February Stamp Camp will be held on Thursday February 7th from 12 noon to 6 pm, Friday February 8th from 2 to 6 pm, and Saturday February 9th from 9 am to 4 pm.  If these times don’t work for you, please let me know and we can rearrange the schedule.

Sale-A-Bration is taking place until March 31.  With each $50 Stampin’Up purchase (before tax and shipping), you choose a free item from the current Sale-A-Bration brochure. To help you take advantage of Sale-A-Bration, for the month of February, I am discounting all Stampin’ Up cardstock/paper by an ADDITIONAL 10%.  This means all card stock, DSP, foils, vellum, glimmer, watercolor paper, etc. will be 20% off.  This is a discount offered by Paper Rose so orders will need to be placed thru me.  You can see the pamphlet of freebies at 2019 Sale-A-Brations.

As noted in the e-mail I sent out yesterday, I have made the decision to increase the price of Stamp Camp to $14.  This was a hard decision to make, but everything is slowly rising in cost.  I have kept the Stamp Camp price at $12 for years.  This allows us to continue using the high quality paper, stamps, dies and embellishments sold by Stampin’Up.  The $14 covers everything – supplies, tools and my humor, knowledge and loving touch.  Additional cards above the 4 for Stamp Camp will be $3.

Stay warm my crafty friends!

My Handheld Valentine

Hi Crafters and welcome to Stamping 2019 with Paper Rose!  I’m happy to report I have recovered from pneumonia and slowly getting back in full swing.  February Stamp Camp will be Thursday January 7th from 12 noon to 6 pm, Friday January 8th from 2 to 6 pm, and Saturday January 9th from 9 am to 4 pm.  If these times don’t work for you, please let me know and we can rearrange the schedule.

I have had to make a hard decision regarding the price of our stamp camps.  I know you are aware how everything is slowly inching up in cost.  I have kept the Stamp Camp price at $12 for years.  In order to be fair to myself, I have made the decision to increase the price of Stamp Camp to $14.  This allows us to continue using the high quality paper, stamps, dies and embellishments sold by Stampin’Up.  The $14 covers everything – supplies, tools and my loving touch.  Additional cards above the 4 for Stamp Camp will be $3.

Sale-A-Bration is taking place until March 31.  With any and each $50 Stampin’Up purchase (before tax and shipping), you choose an item from the current Sale-A-Bration brochure. And with every $50 purchase, you choose a free item from the Sale-A-Bration brochure.  Many of you should have received your Sale-A-Bration brochures in the mail.  I will have extra brochures at February Stamp Camp.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.  Although our February Stamp Camp cards have a valentine theme, they could also be used for birthdays, anniversaries, thinking of you, etc.  We have lots of sentiments to choose from.

01.20.19 Real Handheld Valentine 1 I love this gal – shown here holding a heart with a little sentiment.  The “Hand Delivered” set is in the 2018-2019 catalog on page 229.  This is a set only available to hostesses with a qualifying sale or purchase of $150.  The image is colored with Stampin’ Blends and layered on Blushing Bride.  The Melon Mambo background is embossed with the retired Falling Hearts embossing folder and accessorized with a simple white organza bow.  The stitched heart is from the new “Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies’.  The heart is cut from the new, free Lovely Lipstick Foil.  By free, I’m referring to the Sale-A-Bration sale thru March 31, 2019.  With any and each $50 purchase, you choose an item from the current Sale-A-Bration brochure.  The Grapefruit Grove &Lovely Lipstick Foil Sheets is one of these free items (pg. 12)

01.20.19 Real Handheld Valentine 2 The Sale-A-Bration foil sheets includes 8 sheets, 4 each of the 2 colors, 12X12 in size.

The second sample shows a flowered skirt – different from the skirt in the sample above.  There are 3 skirts available for this lovely lady as well as an assortment of items for her to carry.  The small sentiment is stamped in Lovely Lipstick or Melon Mambo and features a small heart epoxy droplet colored with Stampin’ Blends in Lovely Lipstick.  We will be using these little epoxy hearts on several of our February cards and throughout the year.  I love the cute heart stamp shown here on the envelope.  This is from the new “Forever Lovely” stamp set.

01.20.19 Handheld Valentine 1Although we are not making this card in February, I wanted to share the card I made for my Granddaughter Jailyn’s birthday.  As you can guess, she turned 14.  This is from the “Hand Delivered” set used above.  Instead of a sign, our gal is holding an assortment of balloons. Other images for her to carry include a 3-layer cake and an armful of packages. The image was colored with Stampin’ Blends.  Note the stitched Highland Heather and Whisper White layers.  You will be using these new “Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies” on another February card.  I love the professional finish from the stitched dies.

I hope to see you at February Stamp Camp.  Although it appears the weather will be a bit chilly these 3 days, there will be warmth and laughter inside 533 Emerson Circle.  Stay warm – there are less than 60 days until spring.

Blessings, Rosemary – (home)630.759.3089 – (cell)630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

Valentine Panda

Oh My Gosh – I just love the Party Pandas!  And the set is FREE!  You can’t buy this set; you can only get it thru the Sale-A-Bration celebration.  Spend $50 (before tax and shipping) and this set can be yours – or any set found in the Sale-A-Bration brochure.

01.19.18 VD Panda WOSThis simple red, black and white card is so cute and perfect for a child or an adult.  The pandas have all been pre-cut with my Christmas present – the Scan’N’Cut!  This great tool cut out the pandas, the hedge-hogs and even the circles and scallop circles.  The doily adds texture and interest.  However, the majority of the Stampin’ Up doilies have one area that is “chopped” off.  So, I have learned to work around the area by hiding it.  Thus, the small black lace bow toward the top of the card.  The sentiment banner comes from Bloomin’ Love set.  There are several sentiments to choose from.

01.19.18 VD PandaIn this second sample, you will see several changes.  The DSP is from last year and there are many patterns to choose from.  The reverse side is white with a red pattern.  The little red heart on the letter Panda is carrying is smaller than the previous sample.  The first sample has a small red glimmer heart adhered to the letter.  Another difference is that the panda does not appear to be as dark as the first sample.  The first panda has black Wink of Stella applied to the black portion of the bear.  The second panda is only the stamped image.

Isn’t this a card you would love to make?  The February stamp camp dates/times are February 1st and 2nd from 2 – 7 pm, and February 3rd from 9 am – 4 pm.  You may notice that I have changed the 2018 stamp camp hours.  This allows me to spend additional time with my mother.  She will be 100 in July!  However, if you need to come earlier or later, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate the time best for you!

Finally, I will be offering a 20% product discount for the month of February!  This is the time to stock up on your paper, inks and embellishments.  Plus there are some great stamp sets and bundles in the new occasions catalog – Occasions Catalog.  And remember, for every $50 in product, you can choose an item from the Sale-A-Bration brochure – Sale-A-Brations.

I’m looking forward to seeing you at stamp camp.  Let me know what day you might be coming so I have adequate card stock cut.  Check back tomorrow to see the last Valentine card.

Blessings, Rosemary – (home)630/759-3089 – (cell)630/965-1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

TO MY VALENTINE

2017.01.24 BLACK TIE HVDMy Black Tie Valentine is one of the three valentine cards that you can make at the February Flowers and Hearts Stamp Camp.  This striking card uses the new Falling Petals embossing Folder – very similar to my favorite Softly Falling folder.  The Whisper White embossed layer is adhered to the Basic Black card and is embellished with a black satin bow and a pair of fussy cut red lips. This card was originally designed for the punched card stock bow.  Using the satin ribbon is a bit trickier but with the help of the bow maker, a bit of Baker’s Twine, and Tombo Multi Liquid Glue, anything is possible.  The satin ribbon allows the sender to slip the card in an envelope while the card stock bow would crease and flatten in an envelope.

2017.01.24 BLACK TIE HVD MSGThe new “Sealed with Love” stamp set was used for both messages and the lips.  Two arrow dies come with the matching  “Love Notes Framelits”.  Gold foil was used for the arrow in this image.  The arrow was cut in half and adhered to the underside of the Happy Valentine’s Day message giving the appearance of an arrow shooting through the message.  A thin strip of “Sending Love” DSP adds a touch of color to the message layer.  This is an ideal valentine for your sweetheart!

2017.01.24 HVD EDGELITI love the heart edgelit that comes with the “Love Notes Framelits”.  The edgelit is easy to use and provides interest and depth.  The hearts can be bent open allowing the reader to peek thru and see what is next.  The Falling Petals embossing folder adds more hearts to the top card layer. The gold die cut arrow  is a bit off line.  I discovered a dimensional covering my access point for the arrow and now place my arrow BEFORE adding the dimensionals.  This view shows the card slightly propped open.

The view on the left shows the DSP peeking behind the heart edgelit.  When the card is fully open, the complete DSP strip is seen as well as a tiny matching envelope with a “sending love” message embellished with stamped and die cut hearts. There is an assortment of “Sending Love” DSP to choose for your panel and envelope. There are 2 little message dies in the “Love Notes Framelits”. as well as the small envelope and hearts dies.

2017.01.24 AMORE HDThis is the Amore valentine card and shows you some of the  words in other languages for “love”,  A panel of the “Sending Love” DSP is layered on Basic Black and adhered with dimensionals on a layer of Whisper White cs embossed with “Falling Petals.”  A red foil heart features a smaller Dazzling Diamonds glimmer heart .  A black glimmer arrow pierces the heart thru the center.

2017.01.24 AMORE HVD MSGThe message layer of the Amore card is embellished simply with a border punch of hearts allowing the red layer to peek thru.  The Happy Valentine’s Day message is stamped in Real Red and die cut with one of the new Stampin’ Up stitched circles.  A scalloped Real Red circle is layered under the message and  adhered with dimensionals.

There you  have it!  Fiesta, Beautiful You, Lift me Up, and 3 Valentine cards.  What will you choose?  The first 3 can be done as Valentines or as other occasions.  The 3 Valentine cards pretty much need to be used for Valentine’s Day.  As long as you have contacted me by end of day on January 30th, you can let me know which 4 cards or more you wish to make.

As a final reminder, the Flowers and Hearts Stamp Camp will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – February 2, 3 and 4. I am changing the Thursday hours to 2 – 9 PM. Friday is also 2-9 PM. If you need to come earlier on either of those days, please let me know. Saturday remains the normal 9 AM – 4 PM.  March Stamp Camp will be held on March 2, 3, 4 with the same times as the February Camp.

A reminder about Sale-A-Bration!!! This is the time of year when you can get something FREE! Here’s the deal: for every $50 USD/$60 CAD you spend (before tax and shipping), you get a FREE Sale-A-Bration product. That means it’s the perfect time to purchase those products you’ve had your eye on while earning more products for free. If you did not receive your Sale-A-Bration catalog, you can pick one up at February Stamp Camp, or check it out at Sale-A-Bration January – March 2017.
