DAISY GARDEN

09.23.21 Daisy Garden YellowDaisy Garden is perfect for the fall months as it lets us use colors that are reminiscent of autumn.  Although we will do more fall cards in November as we prepare for Thanksgiving, I thought it would be nice to add a touch of fall colors for October Stamp Camp.  Daisy Garden as used here appears to be a double time stamping card – however, thanks to the Scan n’Cut, I cheated and precut the center section.  Although any color combination would work, this card features Cinnamon Cider, Light and Dark Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple green Stampin; Blends.

09.23.21 Daisy Garden Pale PayayaFor the second sample, the new light and dark Pale Papaya Stampin’ Blends are used along with Old Olive and Cinnamon Cider.  I find the easiest way to color is to insert the cut out image in the opening so the colors blend from one piece to the other.  If desired, just one or two daisies could be colored, or just the daisies and no leaves, or just the images in the center section could be colored.  I chose to color the entire image.  Although very hard to see, black metallic thread feelers have been attached to the butterflies with dimensionals or glue dots.  I like the added crafty touch of the feelers on the butterflies.  Wink of Stella has been added judiciously.

Don’t forget to let me know what cards you wish to do for October Stamp Camp and what day you plan on coming or if you prefer Cards to Go.  As October is my birthday month, a personal 20% Stampin’Up product discount will be offered from October 3rd thru October 31st, 2021.  This is a great time to increase your Stampin’ Blends library and pick up stamps, ink and card stock for the holidays!

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

Fall Blessings,

NATURE’S BEAUTY

TreeFall is such a pretty time of year.  Back in the day when I was a florist, I loved doing fall weddings and designing fall bouquets with the rust, orange and wine tones.  Nature’s beauty is reminiscent of our upcoming fall days.  The Rooted in Nature Stamp Set and coordinating Nature’s Roots dies are perfect for this Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape card.  Stampin’ Blends provide the perfect color for the tree with Wink of Stella added for sparkle.  The Perfect Poem banner and tree layer are framed in grape.  The tree is popped up with Dimensionals on a white background textured with my favorite Subtle Embossing Folder.  A small piece of 5/8” Burlap Ribbon provides the perfect embellishment.

Tree messageI chose a message from the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set.  The words – BE STRONG, BE HAPPY, BE YOU – are very meaningful to me.

When we have October Stamp Camp, there will be about 82 days left until Christmas!  We’ve seen a fall card for October Stamp Camp and we will look at the Snow Globe cards planned for October in our next post.  October 3, 4, and 5 are our dates for stamp camp.  The hours are 12N to 6PM on the 3rd, 2-6 PM on the 4th, and 9AM-4PM on the 5th.  Starting in November thru March of 2020, the Thursday start time will be changed to 11AM to alleviate anyone having to drive home in the dark.  The cost remains $14 for any 4 cards and $3 for each additional card.  As always, I ask that you let me know what day you plan on coming, and which cards you wish to do.

And don’t forget – I am offering a 20% personal discount thru September 30!  I’m pleased that many of you have taken advantage of this savings.  You can actually go directly to my store at paperrose01@stampinup.net and place your order.  I will be notified and will contact you to see if you want me to send you a check for the discount, or deduct it from Stamp Camp.  This works very easily and you don’t have to wait for me to enter the order.

Stand by for the Snow Globe post.  I know this card is a favorite for many of you!

SUNSHINE & RAINBOWS

02.21.18 Springtime 1On this cheerful card, we have Party Panda helping Sunshine & Rainbows declare springtime smiles.  The watercolor background has been colored with Brusho which is a highly pigmented Watercolor ink crystal. I die cut and adhered 3 layers of white clouds and several single clouds.  The die cut rainbow follows ROYGBIV – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.  Each color spectrum is adhered to a backing to allow for stability.  The panda declares the sentiment and a glimmering sun speaks of warm days to come.  Wink of Stella was brushed on the rainbow and judiciously to the panda.  The art scene was layered onto Pacific Point cs and then onto the Daffodil Delight card.  Voila – instant spring.

02.21.18 St. Pats 2  Our second sample is the St. Paddy’s version.  Our sentiment changes and a “pot of gold” is found at the end of the rainbow.  You can choose either card.

A word about Brusho.  As noted above, Brusho is a highly pigmented Watercolor ink crystal. Stampin’ Up sells a box of 5 colors – red, yellow, gamboge, blue and Moss Green.  You can sprinkle the crystals directly on water-washed paper and watch the colors burst!  For this project, I prefer sprinkling the crystals on the dry water color paper and then adding the water.  You can swish the color around with a brush, add more water, add more crystals and even wipe the watercolor paper off with a paper towel to soften the effect.  We will be doing more with Brusho next month but I wanted you to experiment a bit with it this month.

This is the final post for March Stamp Camp.  I hope you can join us on March 1st from 1 pm to 7 pm, March 2nd from 2 pm to 7 pm, or March 3rd from 9 am to 4 pm.  It is helpful if you can let me know which day you might be coming.  For the month of April, our theme will be “friends.”  The dates are April 5, 6, and 7 so mark your calendars now.

Don’t forget the February 20% discount and the current Sale-A-Brations promotion.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Double-Time Stamping with Heartfelt Blooms

Double-time stamping is a fun technique that I have read about but never tried before.  You can also do triple-time stamping, but I thought we would start with the simpler version.image  Heartfelt Blooms is the perfect stamp candidate for this technique.

With double-time stamping, we are going to stamp double – or 2 – layers of Whisper White cs.  The layers are stacked with the smallest on top.  I used removable or temporary mono snail to hold the layers in place.  The layers can be stacked in the center as shown here, or along the side.   The image – Heartfelt Blooms is used here – is stamped over both layers at the same time. There will be a gap around the second layer.  However, when the matting layer is added, the gaps will disappear. Melon Mambo cs was used to mat both stamped layers which were adhered to the Pretty in Pink card.  I found an entire package of retired Pretty in Pink and thought it would be a subtle color to subdue the bright Melon Mambo.  Pearls were colored with a light pink Sharpie and add additional depth and interest to the card.  Clear Wink of Stella was brushed on lightly over the lighter mambo shades. Wink of Stella will take up the ink color so it must be applied judiciously.  A die cut oval Happy Birthday sentiment is shown on this dimensionals.  The second sample uses a Happy Easter sentiment.

WP_20180215_14_46_02_Pro 1One aspect of Heartfelt Blooms that I really liked was the ability of the image to provide instant beauty to both the message layer as you see here, and the envelope as shown below.  This is such a versatile stamp set yet it cannot be purchased.  It is a reward thru the current Sale-A-Brations promotion.  If you purchase $50 of any Stampin’ Up products, you can receive this stamp set free – or any of the $50 sets found at Sale-A-Brations 2018.  If you buy $100 worth of product, you can choose a $100 set found at the same Sale-A-Brations site.  Sound confusing, talk to me and I will explain the promotion in full.  And remember my personal 20% discount for the month of February.  So $50 is really $40 and $100 is really $80.

WP_20180215_14_43_16_Pro 1Doesn’t the envelope appear elegant with the partial Heartfelt Blooms stamp in the corner.  This is truly a versatile stamp set.

Sale-A-Bration is a great time to join Stampin’Up as a demonstrator.  For $99, see what you get!  And YOU choose your $125 in products and the two addition free stamp sets.  How long do you have to remain a demonstrator?  That is up to you.  Paper crafting is my passion and I enjoy being a demonstrator.  I love sharing what I have learned.  If it doesn’t work for you, you simply stop ordering.  This is a great opportunity to obtain some exciting SU products.

02.19.18 Join

I will be posting the final blog post tomorrow.  This final spring-time card is a combination of Party Pandas and Sunshine and Rainbows.  We will be using Prussian Blue Brusho for our sky.  We will be using more Brusho in April and will be combining the red with the yellow and gamboge to come up with a vibrant flower or butterfly.

Don’t forget – March Stamp Camp is March 1st from 1 – 7 pm, March 2nd from 1 – 7 pm, and March 3rd from 9 am – 4 pm.

You’re Inspiring

02.19.18 Daffodils 2I love the daffodils from the You’re Inspiring Stamp Set.  The flowers have been stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento and colored with the new Stampin’ Blends in light and dark Calypso Coral, light and dark Daffodil Delight and light Old Olive.  The blends are so much fun to use!  And I love the blends color remover that can touch up the little bits of ink that jump outside the border of your image.  The white frame is edged in Daffodil Delight scallops and layered onto dry embossed Calypso Coral and then onto Whisper White and the daffodil card.   The Easter sentiment is stamped on white, die cut in an oval shape and layered onto a Daffodil Delight die cut scalloped oval.  This set also features a smaller row of daffodils that I stamped and colored both inside the card and on the envelope.  On the second sample of this card, I used a Happy Birthday sentiment and message.

The month of February with my 20% product discount would be a great time to pick up the Stampin’ Blends and also take advantage of the Sale-A-Brations promotion.  You can see the blends on page 31 of the Occasions Catalog.  You can also view them at Stampin’ Blends.

This is project 2 for our March Stamp Camp.  Blog Post 3 will come out sometime tomorrow and will feature double time stamping and Heartfelt Blooms.  See you then,

Blessings, Rosemary – (home)630/759-3089 – (cell)630/966-1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

Tranquil Tulips

Hi Crafters!  I’ve dedicated our March Stamp Camp to Easter flowers.  Actually, 3 cards will be Easter flowers and the last one will be springy and abound with clouds – but no flowers.

02.19.18 Tranquil Tulips 1Tranquil Tulips is actually a retired stamp from last year.  I had planned on introducing it in spring 2017 but my back surgery delayed that possibility until after it had retired.  This is such a beautiful stamp set.  The tulips are stamped in Powder Pink, Sweet Sugarplum, and Berry Burst with Wild Wasabi greenery.  The beautiful marbled background, stamped in Powder Pink, lends a softness to the card.  The tulips are stamped on a white oval and layered onto Berry Burst.  I did not have oval dies that met my specifications so I used my Stamp’n’Cut to provide the exact size ovals needed.  I chose to omit a sentiment on the card front as I felt it would detract from the art panel. A single tulip is stamped on the message layer and the envelope. This is the first of the Easter flower cards for March Stamp Camp.  Of course, these cards can be used for a birthday, anniversary, sympathy, get well or any other occasion.

Due to popular request, I am moving the starting time on Thursdays to 1 pm.  Fridays will remain at 2 pm.  So…dates and times for March Stamp Camp are:  Thursday, March 1st from 1 – 7 pm, Friday March 2nd from 2-7 pm, and Saturday March 3rd from 9 am – 4 pm.  The cost is $12 for the 4 cards and $2 for each additional card.  I appreciate your letting me know when you might be coming to ensure I have adequate kits prepared, although I always keep a couple extra on hand.  As always, I provide all supplies and tools.

REMINDER REMINDER REMINDER;  20% Stampin’Up product discount for the month of February. The discount is given by me personally so all orders must filter through me.   This is a great time to stock up on your staples and take advantage of the Sale-A-Brations promotion.  You can choose a free $50 or$100 item from the Sale-A-Brations brochure for each $50 or $100 you spend on any SU products.  There are several new Sale-A-Bration items that became available on 2/16 and can be seen at Sale-A-Bration 2018.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  Looking forward to seeing you in March!

Blessings, Rosemary  (home)630/759-3089 – (cell)630/965-1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

CHRISTMAS SWEATERS

2017.09.16 Sweater Garden GreenChristmas Sweaters is such a fun card!  This is designed as a Z card and uses the retired Warmth and Cheer Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I chose my favorite sweaters that were fun to color and not to difficult to fussy cut.  There are several DSP designs to choose from as well as assorted Textured Embossing Folders.  In this image, the argyle folder was used.  The sentiment tag comes from the retired Stitched With Cheer stamp set.  The sentiment is layered on matching colored cs and is held together with Multi-colored Cotton Yarn from Hobby Lobby.  The message layer features a fourth sweater.

2017.09.16 Sweater CobblerCan you tell what my 3 favorite sweaters are????  This sample is done in Cherry Cobbler.  Note how the ribbon coordinates with the card.  The multi-colored yard allows you to cut into it to find the color you are looking for.   Although hard to tell, the striped sweaters feature a rhinestone in the snowflake center.  The Santa card features a rhinestone at the end of his hat.  I found larger rhinestones which we will be using for stamp camp.  The gingerbread sweater is highlighted with a yellow star embellishment and small candy dots on several of the stamped candies.  Wink of Stella was also used to add a bit of glimmer.  Beware the Wink picking up the SU marker color.  I cleaned my SU brush frequently.  The Copic markers did not have that issue.  Aren’t these cute cards.  If you are concerned about the time it takes to color and cut them out, you can always make the card and complete the sweaters at home during your leisure time.

Although I rarely mention Paper Pumpkin, I do want you to be aware of a SU Paper Pumpkin offering:  To give you more of what you love, during October and November SU is offering two straight months of perfectly coordinated Christmas cardmaking and gifting projects.  Two coordinating kits means that 1) you will have everything you need to complete unique holiday cards and gifts, 2) you will have more creative options, and 3) you can get that handmade holiday touch without the fuss.  A one-month subscription is $20.  Sign up at Paper Pumpkin and please don’t forget to list me as your demonstrator.

SNOWFLAKE SENTIMENTS

With this unseasonable heat, it’s hard to believe it is fall and Christmas is fast approaching!  Perhaps Snowflake Sentiments will help put us in the holiday spirit!

2017.09.16 Snowflake Sentiments Xmas no TEFLast month, our sparkling Christmas card was done in Cherry Cobbler and silver.  This month, our card is gold and white.  The top shimmery white layer features a gold metallic foil snowflake that is 3 3/8 X 3 3/8 in size.  In this image, the foil snowflake is layered with a gold glimmer snowflake, a gold foil snowflake, and a large pearl.  Other assorted snowflakes are die cut in gold glimmer and gold metallic foil and gently “cascade” down the front layer.  Pearls embellish each snowflake.  Rhinestones were considered, but there is enough bling without rhinestones.  Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape highlights 2 corners of the top layer and the sentiment “Christmas” is die cut in gold metallic foil.

2017.09.16 Snowflake Sentiments 1The second sample is very similar to the first with “peace” used as the sentiment.  Gold 1/8” ribbon is used to highlight the 2 corners.  The top layer of this card was run thru the Big Shot with the Gently Falling Textured Embossing Folder.  This $8.50 embossing folder (page 211 in the 2017-2018 SU catalog) is one I recommend everyone have in their embossing folder library.  Although you cannot see the added clear droplets in either sample, I dropped dots of glue from the Fine Tip Glue Pen in several spots on the top layer and allowed them to dry.  These clear droplets add dimension and interest to the card.

October Stamp Camp is on Thursday October 5th from 12 N – 8 PM, Friday October 6th from 12 N – 6 PM, and Saturday October 7th from 9 AM – 4 PM.  We will be doing 2 Christmas and 2 Halloween or Fall cards.  I realize several of you do not acknowledge Halloween so I always try to offer an alternative.

As a reminder, Christmas Stamp-A-Stack will be October 19 and 21.  You will have the option of doing 4 each of 3 cards (12 total) or 5 each of 3 cards (15 cards).  This is, of course, subject to change as I may come up with 4 different cards instead of 3.  However, my current plan is 3 different cards.  Cost is $28 for 12 cards, or $33 for 15 cards. I’m waiting for a SU shipment so I can finish these cards and post them on the blog.  I will have samples  for you to view at October Stamp Camp.

My 20% off product discount for SU ends September 30.  Let me know if there are any SU items you wish to add to your crafting bonanza.

My next post will be Christmas Sweaters.  Make sure you check back to see it.  Please let me know by Monday October 2 which cards you wish to do.  4 cards for $12 and each additional card is $2.

PEACE ON EARTH

As time is running short until September Stamp Camp, I decided to CAS this lovely card by Jari Francis from Card-iology by Jari.

2017.09.01 Peace on EarthThe Carols of Christmas bundle from the new holiday catalog brings the Christmas card for September Stamp Camp.  The Peace on Earth was stamped in Cherry Cobbler onto a Whisper White stitched circle.  This sentiment circle was framed with a scalloped Silver Glimmer circle.  A narrow strip of the Be Merry DSP was adhered to a layer of Cherry Cobbler and then to a larger panel of Silver Glimmer Paper.  Trees were die cut using the Card Front Builder Thinlets Dies and adhered to the card front.  3/8” ribbon was wrapped around the top layer and a bow was added.  The sentiment circle and the single tree were added with dimensionals and the whole art panel was then adhered to a Whisper White card base.  The inside layer was finished with a thin strip of the same Be Merry DSP as used on the card front.  This is a very glittery – but elegant card and will put you in the Christmas spirit.

This is the final post for September Stamp Camp.  Remember to let me know by Tuesday September 5th which cards you choose to do.  As a reminder, stamp camp is Thursday and Friday – September 7 and 8 from 12 N to 6 PM, and on Saturday September 9 from 9 AM to 4 PM.  Bring a friend and introduce them to the creative art of paper crafting.  See you next week!

Don’t forget the 20% off SU product sale for the month of September – this is a personal discount offering.

Blessings, Rosemary – 630/759-3089 (h) – 630/965-1965 (c) – paperrose01@aol.com

BIRTHDAY MEMORIES

This next card is a bit different as the Designer Series Paper does most of the work for the crafter.

2017.09.30 Fox btdThis cheerful birthday card features the Birthday Memories DSP.  A first for Stampin-Up is designing the paper to match the framelits.  Or would that be designing the framelits to match the paper?  Either way, you can die cut birthday characters, balloons, cakes, hats, presents directly from the DSP.  However, I was so in love with Mr. Turtle that I fussy cut him with my snips.

The background is sponged on glossy white card stock.  Last month we used this fantastic card stock for our watercolor wash.  I started with some Daffodil Delight in the upper left corner and swirled on a sun.  The remaining sky was sponged in Marina Mist.  I tend to gravitate toward Soft Sky for my background, but wanted something with less green for this sky.  One warning with the glossy card stock – you cannot erase glue mishaps without marring the shiny finish.  Also, the liquid glue leaves an imprint you can see if you hold the card in the light.

2017.09.30 poodle btdI die cut a Garden Green hill and added a few tufts of grass before adhering it to the watercolored layer and then to the Pacific Point card.

Deciding which birthday characters to use was the difficult part.  I love the fox, the poodle, the darling girl, and everything else but you can only fit so much on a greeting card!  You can see in my two samples what I chose for my two samples.  Most of the die cuts were popped up with dimensionals.  Thick twine was used for the balloon strings and a bit of Wink of Stella was used to add some glitter.

I encountered a challenge with my second sample as seen to my right.  I was ready to mount the completed layer to the card front and discovered the layer was 5 X 4 instead of 5 1/4 X 4. After debating how to handle my “lemon,” I decided to add a second layer of grass to give the extra 1/4”.  I’m sure I will be the only one who is aware of this error.  Remember the adage – measure twice, cut once?  Perhaps I should pay attention to those words!

2017.09.30 fox message layerThere will be a banner, fox, poodle, cute girl, cake, present, balloons, party hats available for each card. Additional characters can be fussy cut.

I  chose to add die cut characters to my message layer.  I adhered a gift to the paw of the fox and added him to the layer.  For another message layer, I added a cute die cut birthday cake.

I hope you can come to September Stamp Camp on September 7 and 8 from 12 N – 6 PM, and September 9 from 9 AM – 4 PM.  Please let me know by September 5th which cards you wish to do.

Reminders:  You can order now from the Holiday Catalog – 20% product discount for the month of September – Christmas Stamp-a-Stack on October 19 and 21 with a limit of 12 stampers per day.
