BIRTHDAY MEMORIES

This next card is a bit different as the Designer Series Paper does most of the work for the crafter.

2017.09.30 Fox btdThis cheerful birthday card features the Birthday Memories DSP.  A first for Stampin-Up is designing the paper to match the framelits.  Or would that be designing the framelits to match the paper?  Either way, you can die cut birthday characters, balloons, cakes, hats, presents directly from the DSP.  However, I was so in love with Mr. Turtle that I fussy cut him with my snips.

The background is sponged on glossy white card stock.  Last month we used this fantastic card stock for our watercolor wash.  I started with some Daffodil Delight in the upper left corner and swirled on a sun.  The remaining sky was sponged in Marina Mist.  I tend to gravitate toward Soft Sky for my background, but wanted something with less green for this sky.  One warning with the glossy card stock – you cannot erase glue mishaps without marring the shiny finish.  Also, the liquid glue leaves an imprint you can see if you hold the card in the light.

2017.09.30 poodle btdI die cut a Garden Green hill and added a few tufts of grass before adhering it to the watercolored layer and then to the Pacific Point card.

Deciding which birthday characters to use was the difficult part.  I love the fox, the poodle, the darling girl, and everything else but you can only fit so much on a greeting card!  You can see in my two samples what I chose for my two samples.  Most of the die cuts were popped up with dimensionals.  Thick twine was used for the balloon strings and a bit of Wink of Stella was used to add some glitter.

I encountered a challenge with my second sample as seen to my right.  I was ready to mount the completed layer to the card front and discovered the layer was 5 X 4 instead of 5 1/4 X 4. After debating how to handle my “lemon,” I decided to add a second layer of grass to give the extra 1/4”.  I’m sure I will be the only one who is aware of this error.  Remember the adage – measure twice, cut once?  Perhaps I should pay attention to those words!

2017.09.30 fox message layerThere will be a banner, fox, poodle, cute girl, cake, present, balloons, party hats available for each card. Additional characters can be fussy cut.

I  chose to add die cut characters to my message layer.  I adhered a gift to the paw of the fox and added him to the layer.  For another message layer, I added a cute die cut birthday cake.

I hope you can come to September Stamp Camp on September 7 and 8 from 12 N – 6 PM, and September 9 from 9 AM – 4 PM.  Please let me know by September 5th which cards you wish to do.

Reminders:  You can order now from the Holiday Catalog – 20% product discount for the month of September – Christmas Stamp-a-Stack on October 19 and 21 with a limit of 12 stampers per day.

A LITTLE BIT COUNTRY!

image

The wood words bundle (page 159 in the 2017-2018 catalog) is just too cute.  The Wood Textures DSP offers endless possibilities and the crate is perfect for 3 inch cards as we see here , for a treat for a special person, or to embellish the front of a card.

The crate is die cut twice and the bottom and sides attached with Sticky Strip (my favorite) or a strong liquid adhesive – I don’t recommend snail.  Embellishments for the crate include a partial doily, red scalloped circle, Wood Words stamped circle and die cut rooster.  Two small banners of Night of Navy ribbon and a tag finish the front crate layer.

The 3” red card matches the crate.  A layer of navy and Wood Textures DSP are softened with a doily.  A navy circle, red scalloped circle, Wood Words stamped circle and die cut rooster embellish the card front.  Finally, 2 pieces of navy ribbon and a “for you” tag finish the card.  There are other stamps and dies available; I just happen to like the red rooster and navy flower combination!

The DSP crate will hold 3-4 3” cards with envelopes.  If placing something heavy in the crate, regular card stock would be sturdier than the DSP although you could easily cover a card stock crate with the DSP.

While I think of it, here is a copy of the end of year stamp camp.  I will have copies to hand out at September Stamp Camp.  And don’t forget – 20% SU product discount for the entire month of September.  Stay tune for the next blog – Birthday Memories!!!

TO MY VALENTINE

2017.01.24 BLACK TIE HVDMy Black Tie Valentine is one of the three valentine cards that you can make at the February Flowers and Hearts Stamp Camp.  This striking card uses the new Falling Petals embossing Folder – very similar to my favorite Softly Falling folder.  The Whisper White embossed layer is adhered to the Basic Black card and is embellished with a black satin bow and a pair of fussy cut red lips. This card was originally designed for the punched card stock bow.  Using the satin ribbon is a bit trickier but with the help of the bow maker, a bit of Baker’s Twine, and Tombo Multi Liquid Glue, anything is possible.  The satin ribbon allows the sender to slip the card in an envelope while the card stock bow would crease and flatten in an envelope.

2017.01.24 BLACK TIE HVD MSGThe new “Sealed with Love” stamp set was used for both messages and the lips.  Two arrow dies come with the matching  “Love Notes Framelits”.  Gold foil was used for the arrow in this image.  The arrow was cut in half and adhered to the underside of the Happy Valentine’s Day message giving the appearance of an arrow shooting through the message.  A thin strip of “Sending Love” DSP adds a touch of color to the message layer.  This is an ideal valentine for your sweetheart!

2017.01.24 HVD EDGELITI love the heart edgelit that comes with the “Love Notes Framelits”.  The edgelit is easy to use and provides interest and depth.  The hearts can be bent open allowing the reader to peek thru and see what is next.  The Falling Petals embossing folder adds more hearts to the top card layer. The gold die cut arrow  is a bit off line.  I discovered a dimensional covering my access point for the arrow and now place my arrow BEFORE adding the dimensionals.  This view shows the card slightly propped open.

The view on the left shows the DSP peeking behind the heart edgelit.  When the card is fully open, the complete DSP strip is seen as well as a tiny matching envelope with a “sending love” message embellished with stamped and die cut hearts. There is an assortment of “Sending Love” DSP to choose for your panel and envelope. There are 2 little message dies in the “Love Notes Framelits”. as well as the small envelope and hearts dies.

2017.01.24 AMORE HDThis is the Amore valentine card and shows you some of the  words in other languages for “love”,  A panel of the “Sending Love” DSP is layered on Basic Black and adhered with dimensionals on a layer of Whisper White cs embossed with “Falling Petals.”  A red foil heart features a smaller Dazzling Diamonds glimmer heart .  A black glimmer arrow pierces the heart thru the center.

2017.01.24 AMORE HVD MSGThe message layer of the Amore card is embellished simply with a border punch of hearts allowing the red layer to peek thru.  The Happy Valentine’s Day message is stamped in Real Red and die cut with one of the new Stampin’ Up stitched circles.  A scalloped Real Red circle is layered under the message and  adhered with dimensionals.

There you  have it!  Fiesta, Beautiful You, Lift me Up, and 3 Valentine cards.  What will you choose?  The first 3 can be done as Valentines or as other occasions.  The 3 Valentine cards pretty much need to be used for Valentine’s Day.  As long as you have contacted me by end of day on January 30th, you can let me know which 4 cards or more you wish to make.

As a final reminder, the Flowers and Hearts Stamp Camp will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – February 2, 3 and 4. I am changing the Thursday hours to 2 – 9 PM. Friday is also 2-9 PM. If you need to come earlier on either of those days, please let me know. Saturday remains the normal 9 AM – 4 PM.  March Stamp Camp will be held on March 2, 3, 4 with the same times as the February Camp.

BEAUTIFUL YOU!!!

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to get this blog to you.  When I finally sat down and fired up the computer, I couldn’t connect to the internet.  This led to a detailed phone call with my personal computer tech Larry.  He walked me thru the process of reconnecting and now I’m good to go!

Beautiful You is a gorgeous stamp set.  I concentrated on just one stamp of the beautiful 3 women.  I did 2 birthday samples and 2 for Valentine’s Day.

WP_20170118_13_14_53_ProThis was my first Beautiful You card.  We needed a birthday card for a very dear friend and this was a breeze to make.  Red and black are a natural color combo.  The woman was stamped in Black Memento on Whisper White cs and re-stamped on a scrap of red and white DSP.  I fussy cut the DSP hat and dress, added a touch of adhesive and voila – I had Beautiful You.  I am not a big fan of fussy cutting, but with the bold black lines of the stamp, cutting was truly a breeze.  The cards I made with this stamp set all feature multiple layers and a bold stripe or dotted designer paper from my archive of recent, recently retired, and old and retired DSP.  Rhinestones add a bit of bling to this stylish gal.

WP_20170118_13_39_07_ProI love the messages that come with this set.  The message used on the card front reads “Happy Birthday Gorgeous” and the sentiment reads:  “Life looks beautiful on you.” A squiggle of Real Red was stamped under the sentiment.  The new candle border punch adds instant layering and contrast.

WP_20170121_17_00_12_ProThis sample is very similar to the one above, but has a Valentine’s Day theme.  The DSP used for the dress and hat is white with tiny red hearts.  Although hard to see, white glitter washi tape was cut to match the width of the white stripes in the black and white diagonal DSP and adhered in a 2 on – 1 off pattern.  Pearls added a bit of chic style.

WP_20170121_17_13_25_ProSpectrum Noir markers were used to color the dress and hat of this Beautiful You woman.  The challenge of using non-SU markers is finding cs that matches, blends, or contrasts.  My card stock archive had some retired Hello Honey that worked well in this instance.  Black and white dotted DSP was used for the background.  Several white glimmer flowers were punched and adhered.  Pearls embellish the hat and the neckline.  A black glimmer flower with pearl center added a finishing touch to the message banner.

WP_20170121_16_52_24_ProThis Valentine’s card uses a monochromatic color scheme of Melon Mambo and retired Pretty in Pink.  The Seaside Textured Impressions Embossing Folder  provides lots of visual interest.  Instead of ovals, the DSP, stamped image and frame are die cut with Lots of Labels Framelits.  The dress is quickly colored with the dress image squiggle stamped in Melon Mambo.  Swirls of silver cording and a silver sparkly embellishment add lots of interest and bling.

We will be seeing this stamp set again in May when we honor the women in our lives.  A different Beautiful You image will be paired with the Serene Scenery DSP.

Our third project for February stamp Camp uses the Lift Me Up Stamp Set and coordinating thinlits dies.  Samples include a birthday version and one for Valentines Day.  This is a colorful card and will be the topic of my next blog post.

Don’t forget to let me know which cards you wish to do for February Stamp Camp.  $12 for any 4 cards and $2 for additional cards.  I will be giving away the Hey, Chick Stamp Set featured in the Sale-A-Brations brochure so stick some extra good luck in your pocket before you come.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Blessings, Rosemary – (h)630/759-3089 – (c)30/965-1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

THANKFUL . GRATEFUL . BLESSED

2016.10.23 Give Thanks 1This elegant card is from the Paisleys & Posies stamp set with the Paisley Framelits Dies.  The color scheme is Rich Razzleberry, Mint Macaroon, and Copper.  Petals and Paisleys Specialty DSP provides a background of the paisleys and posies.  The gorgeous copper foil sheets die cut into wonderful embellishments.  The banner message is wet-embossed on Mint Macaroon and provides a bit more elegance.  Retired copper cording tied in a triple bow is the finishing touch.

2016.10.23 Give Thanks 2The second sample is very similar to the first but missing a second leaf and a tiny paisley.  Rich Razzleberry thick Baker’s Twine provides a simple bow.  Although both samples use the thin copper thread, the thread is more noticeable on this card located under the embellishments.  With a simple message change, this would also make a beautiful Christmas card.

2016.10.23 Thankful MiceOur second Thanksgiving card features thankful mice from Lawn Fawn.  The addition of die cut pumpkins and stitched leaves on a Peekaboo Peach background give a fall feeling.  The So Saffron card and plaid DSP provide a bit of whimsy.  The stitched hills are a new addition to my ever-growing die collection.  There are dies for everything on this cute card.

These are our Thanksgiving cards for November Stamp Camp which will be held on Thursday November 3rd from 12 N to 9 PM, Friday November 4th from 2 to 9 PM, and Saturday November 5th from 9 AM to 4 PM.  You can choose the 4 cards you wish to do.  If you choose to make more than 4 cards, the cost is $2 per card.  However, the deadline for letting me know which cards you choose, is Tuesday, November 1st.  The post focusing on the 2 Christmas samples will be out shortly.

Don’t forget the Buy 3 – Get 1 Free Stampin’ Up sale.  This special ends with the last day of October.

Blessings, Rosemary – (h)30/759-3089 – (c)630/965-1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

BEAUTIFUL BRANCHES

It seems the days are getting busier and busier!  Friday, I went to Northwestern Medical Center to see a neurosurgeon about my back.  Yesterday, my cousin and her husband returned home to Baton Rouge after a short visit. Today, hubby Norb and I slaved in the kitchen to make my “world famous” lasagna for son Russ as we celebrated his birthday.  My goal was to have all the blogs posted today for our September Stamp Camp, but I think only this blog will make it in by midnight!!!!

2016.08.27 Beautiful Branches card This simple Christmas card is from the Thoughtful Branches bundle that is only available through August 31st.  The top layer is bordered with Emerald Envy and dry embossed with my favorite Softly Falling embossing folder.  The tree is quickly die cut from Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper and is popped up atop embossed snow.  The little birds are die cut from red glimmer paper.  The photopolymer message was curved a bit on the acrylic block so that it fits perfectly in the banner image.  Although the cards looks difficult, it is not and goes together quickly. Two types of embossed snow are available, and the birds can be gold, silver, green, red, or red metallic.

2016.08.27 Beautiful Branches messageI felt a simple but elegant sentiment was needed for this card.   The Emerald Envy border around the card layer and the sentiment provide a quiet elegance.  The use of stitched rectangles for the sentiment and the 2 birds carry through the simplicity of the card.  This is truly one of my favorite cards.

In case you don’t know when September Stamp Camp is – it is right around the corner.  The dates/times:  Thursday September 1 from 12 N – 9 PM, Friday September 2 from 2 – 9 PM, and Saturday September 3 from 9 AM to 4 PM. The cost is $12 for 4 cards.  If you prefer doing more of a particular cards and not doing another card, please let me know as soon as possible.  For example, if you prefer this Beautiful Branches and perhaps the Floral Boutique cards, you could do 2 of each and skip Swirls and Jar of Love.  The choice is yours, but I do need to know prior to the day you come so I can have your kit prepared.  If you would like a kit to do at home, the cost is the same, but I would need to know as soon as possible to allow time for me to prep the kit.

The holiday mini catalogs are in the mail and you might have yours by now.  Mine arrived earlier this week.  You can order these wonderful items beginning September 1, 2016.  AND, I am running a special in September – 20% off all SU products. The 20% if taken off after Shipping and Tax.  This is a discount that I am offering and is not a discount offered by Stampin; Up.  So stock up on your card stock, inks, embellishments and choose an item or 2 that is on your wish list.  I guarantee you will fall in love with at least 1 item in the holiday catalog!!!!!

I hope to see you at September Stamp Camp.  Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  If you can let me know which day you might be coming, it is helpful, but not required.

Blessings, Rosemary – (h)630/759-3089 – (c)630/965-1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

THOUGHTFUL BRANCHES 1

Hi Crafters!  We survived our trip to San Jose California – the land of the dead brown lawns.  Very happy to return to our green, green grass, bushes and flowers!  I finally finished our last card for August Stamp Camp.  This is not the card that I had planned.  This is from the Thoughtful Branches Bundle that is ONLY available for the month of August – while quantities last.  If your wallet will allow it, I highly encourage you to purchase this set of stamps and dies – see my special pricing below. The possibilities are endless!  This week we are going to create a hydrangea version and next month we are going to do a Christmas tree version.

2016.07.16 Hydrangea 1I absolutely love this hydrangea done in the new color Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry.  On this card, the flower is two layers deep popped up with dimensionals.  Although the bloom looks complicated, it is surprisingly easy to line up and die cut.  Some dies in the past have been almost impossible to line up, but this one is very simple.  The stem is die cut in new Emerald Envy.  I chose to have my leaves filled in so I cut a stamped leaf to fill in the vacant space behind the die cut leaves.  I found some Rich Razzleberry thick twine in my collection and it is the perfect addition for the hydrangea.  Like the white embossed background?  This is the new Petal Burst Textured Expressions Embossing Folder.  The petals provide an excellent background for the flower and leaves.

2016.07.16 Hydrangea 2No – I did not make a mistake when I adhered my cardstock to the card front.  I decided that as the flower goes on at an angle, to angle everything on the card front.  You must admit the angles catch your eye and cause you to look twice!  Notice the embossed background?  The de-bossed side is up and gives great texture and depth.  I rarely used the de-bossed side but felt it was great for this card.  The hydrangea on this card is a single layer with a Razzleberry background.  I love the “Fabulous Friend” image and banner.  These are from the new Banners for You stamp set and matching die bundle.  The little flower on the end of the banner is the fix for not centering the message!  Although I resisted using Wink of Stella on the first sample, I brushed it on several of the florets, the background of the leaves, and around the banner on this card.  The added glimmer is a great finish to a beautiful card!

Again, this is an absolutely wonderful set and I have seen so many beautiful cards done by SU demonstrators around the world.  The bundle – stamps and dies – lists for $52.00 plus shipping and tax.  I am willing to drop my SU discount and sell it for 20% off the product price after shipping and tax.  So that means I take $10.40 off the price of the bundle after shipping and tax.  This discount is only available thru me because I think this set is fantastic.  BUT remember – it is only available thru the month of August WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!  I expect it to sell out quickly!  Check out the Thoughtful Branches Blog at Thoughtful Branches

Hope to see you at August Stamp Camp.  If you can let me know when you might be coming, it is helpful, but not required.  If you prefer to receive a kit to complete at home, you will need to let me know which animal from Foxy Friends you wish – the cat, raccoon, skunk or fox, and what color bird you prefer – yellow, blue or coral.  If you want to customize your cards – maybe do 2 birds, 2 hydrangeas and skip the angel and Foxy Friend, please let me know soon!  And if you choose to add a card, you can do so for an additional $2.00.

As a reminder, August Stamp Camp is Thursday August 11 from 12 Noon – 9 PM, Friday August 12 from 2 PM to 9 PM, and Saturday August 12 from 9 AM to 4 PM.  You can choose the date and time that is best for you!  Look forward to seeing you soon!

Blessings, Rosemary – (h)630/759-3089 – (c)630/965-1965 – paperrose01@aol.com
