Val the Gnome

Meet Val the Valentine Gnome.  Val comes to us from Etsy and has been resized for us to work with and cut with the Scan’n’Cut.  Val is perched on a Merry Merlot card front die cut with the Happy die and embossed with the Tasteful Textile folder.  Val’s sentiment is stamped in Merlot on white cs and layered on Melon Mambo.  The Banner Pick a Punch trims the edges.  Val is holding a gold metallic heart and 4 additional gold hearts embellish the card front.  The card base is Melon Mambo which has also been embossed with the Tasteful Textile folder.

The message layer features a message from the Pansy Patch Stamp Set – WISHING YOU A LITTLE EXTRA HAPPINESS JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE YOU.  Die-cut hearts in Merry Merlot, Real Red, Melon Mambo and gold embellish this layer.

This card makes up quickly as everything is ready to adhere. I added a touch of Wink of Stella to Val’s flowers, hat and nose.  Adding a little treat such as candy or a cookie along with Val the Gnome Valentine card would make anyone happy.

Colorful Valentine

This colorful valentine is a fun fold using the Sweet Talk DSP from the January – June Mini Catalog.  Rectangular panels of CS and DSP are cut on the diagonal to form triangles which are layered to give us this eye-catching effect.  The base of the card is an 11 X 4 1/4 piece of Blushing Bride scored at 5 1/2 with one of the sides trimmed off on the diagonal.  This is best seen on the message layer

You can see here that the left side of the card base is cut off on the diagonal.  This diagonal piece is used as the bottom layer of a piece of diagonally cut DSP and Real Red.  The red heart and the message layer are embossed with the Ornate Floral 3D folder.  The red heart is layered onto a Gorgeous Grape scalloped heart.  The message layer features a 3” basic white heart with Happy Valentines Day stamped in Gorgeous Grape.  The heart is large enough for you to add your handwritten message.  Note the red bird perched in the lower right corner.  This is a fun – fun fold. All the pieces of paper are cut and ready to layer.  All that is needed is your creative touch.

Just want to reiterate that I am planning on March Stamp Camp being held at my house.  The current COVID variant appears to be waning and I’m hoping that March will be a safe time to join together.

OTTERLY AWESOME

Isn’t this card just too cute?  And this set – AWESOME OTTERS – is free with SALE-A-BRATIONS thru the end of February (they sell out.) With the 20% February discount I am offering, perhaps you can pick up this cute set.  Debbie used the Subtle Embossing Folder to give the red background a linen-like finish.  The Sweet Talk DSP is featured in the January-June Stampin’Up Mini Catalog and is Real Red and Petal Pink.  The row of Blushing Bride hearts is from a die in the Sweet Conversations Bundle also in the mini catalog.  It is actually 2 rows of hearts joined in the center.  The sweet otter is colored with Stampin’ Blends and holds a row of horizontal die-cut hearts.  The sentiment and otter are stamped and die cut in circular shapes and layered onto scallop circles.  Red rhinestones add the finishing touch. 

The message layer Debbie created is very similar to the one used for the Valentine wreath card.  We have a strip of the Sweet Talk DSP and the LOVE heart.  However, the “Happy to have you in my life” message on a Blushing Bride heart is included so you can use that to embellish your message if preferred.

LOVE

‘”LOVE is like sunshine.”  How can we bring sunshine into the lives of others?  February Cards to Go has 4 perfect answers.  Let’s take a look at the first one:

The Stampin’Up Arrange a Wreath bundle of stamps and dies is one of those sets that has many uses.  This is a set I continue to use even though it is retired.  Debbie designed this gentle red, Blushing Bride and white card.  The Brick and Mortar Embossing Folder provides lots of background texture.  The wreath is die-cut with the free Sale-A-Brations DSP Simply Marbleous Blushing Bride DSP.  Red hearts and flowers embellish the wreath with rhinestones centered in the flowers and double die-cut bow..  The love heart is one of my favorite dies and is perfect for this card.  2 additional red hearts provide balance.

But – what if the card recipient is not someone you feel comfortable giving a LOVE embellishment.  What if a LIKE embellishment would be more appropriate.  Well, we don’t have LIKE embellishments, but we do have a nice message that reads “HAPPY TO HAVE YOU IN MY LIFE.”  This is perfect for most anyone as we are KIND crafters and one thing America needs desperately is KINDNESS.  Debbie stamped this message in red on a Blushing Bride heart and it is a perfect embellishment when LOVE just won’t work. 

The message layer features a strip of DSP that matches the wreath.  Happy Valentines Day is the message and if you choose, you can add the heart that you did not use on the front.  Both hearts will be included in your February Cards to Go.

I’m feeling positive that we can return to cards at my home in March.  The current variant appears to be waning and we certainly want to take advantage of that.

BE MY VALENTINE

The final valentine card sample for our February Stamp Camp Therapy Kit is a traditional valentine in Real Red, Blushing Bride and Rococo Rose.  The red background is deeply embossed with hearts.  Two punched scalloped hearts with gold metallic accents embellish the punched Rococo Rose braid.  The third heart is punched from retired pink glimmer paper.  The sentiment is stamped in red on Blushing Bride cs and popped up with dimensionals.

Additional punched pink glimmer hearts adorn the card front and message layer.  The message layer is left for you to add your own words. 

Prices for the card kits remain the same as 2020 – $3.50  each for any 4 cards and $3.00 for each card thereafter.  I anticipate kits will be ready by January 27th which will allow adequate time for crafting and mailing.

RETRO VALENTINE

This print seems so large but what I was using was too small.  I’m using my new laptop so it’s trial and error time.

I call this valentine “Retro Girl.”  She is copied from the Graphic Fairy Website that I subscribe to.  The Scan’nCut did the cutting for us and a 2-layer glimmer heart is her flower.  Tiny pink pearls festoon her skirt and hair bow.  Wink of Stella adds glimmer and the retired Falling Hearts embossing folder gives us texture and dimension. 

The message layer features a pink glimmer heart and a stamped white heart that can be layered on the Rococo Rose punched heart.  The messages for the cards you have seen thus far can be interchanged as you wish.  I miss not having you here so you can choose and stamp the messages yourself.

LOVE YOU ALWAYS

I love black and white!  This combination is a WOW!  The Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the True Love DSP jumps at me.  The ornate heart from the Floral Heart Dies is simply beautiful.  The embossed sentiment pops at you from the unique banner that is scored and folded to provide the 3-D effect.  This card is not at all difficult.  You layer paper, adhere the heart flat, fold the embossed message on the score lines and adhere to the card front.

The message layer gives us a little bit of color with a scalloped heart that can be layered to the white stamped heart if you choose.  A strip of matching DSP ties the front and message layers together.

As I mentioned earlier, cards should be ready for pickup by 1.27.21 and I will notify you if they are ready earlier.  It’s helpful if you can let me know as soon as you have decided which cards you choose to make.  Feel free to text me at 630.965,1965.  Stay well!

VALENTINE RIDE

It’s time for some valentine therapy!!!

We’ve seen the Come Ride With Me stamp set used for birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Now we can see it for Valentines Day.  When I offered this design previously, I did not realize that the center portion could be cut out with a rectangle die – Debbie figured that out and now making this card is super easy.

I used the balloon stamp that comes with the set, cut off the balloons and adhered 4 balloons – 3 flat and 1 popped up.  A bright pink Baker’s Twine bow “ties” the balloons to the truck.  I chose Rococo Rose light and dark Stampin’ Blends for my truck and black foil wheels.  Wink of Stella adds some sparkle.  The message layer has a cute border of hearts from the Floral Heart Dies Set.  2 pink hearts and a white heart with a stamped friend message are included for you to use as you wish. 

Have you looked at the Sale-a-Bration brochure?  There is some awesome DSP in it as well as a darling donkey stamp, birthday message stamp and several other very nice stamp sets.  You can get one of these free with a $50 product purchase from any current Stampin’Up catalog.  However, 2 of the sets require a $100 purchase.  There is no limit – if you splurge and spend $150, you can choose 3 of the $50 sets or 1 of the $100 sets plus a $50 set.  If you have a catalog party and sell $350 worth of product, there is a very nice stamp set that you get for free.  This annual sale ends February 28, 2021.  I have heard rumors that Stampin’Up may offer another Sale-a-Bration special later in the year. 

I know one of us has been through having Coronavirus.  Hopefully, we can all stay healthy.  I will be so happy when we can get together and stamp.  I miss the friendship and laughter.  Until then, we will have to craft together by kit.  The prices for 2021 remains $4.00 each for any 4 cards, and $3,50 for additional cards. Cards should be ready for pick-up by 1.27.21.  I will notify you if they are ready prior to that.  I know your paper crafting may be out of whack so I want to make sure you have plenty of time to create your valentines and get them in the mail.

FAVORS FROM THE HEART

Sometimes you want to give a special someone a special something.  Stampin’Up has Heart Foil Tins available in the new Mini Catalog.  I thought they were too cute to pass up.  The tins are 3 1/2 X 3 15/16 across and 1 3/16” high.  The tops are easy to remove but slip back on securely.  Better yet, these are even food safe!

There are 18 of these tins left.  There are 19 red and 19 Flirty Flamingo heart doilies left.  The new heart punches from the Heart Punch Pack are used to punch out the red glimmer paper and From My Heart DSP hearts.  The arrow is die cut on black cs, cut in half and adhered with the two ends running “thru” the heart.  Aren’t these too cute?

The heart tins are an add-on if you would like to make one.  I will have the materials pre-cut if you let me know which color combination you prefer.  Putting them together is truly very easy.  The added cost for a tin is $2.00.  The sentiment “hugs and kisses” was stamped on the Flirty Flamingo heart.

When you let me know what day you will be coming, make sure you specify if you would like a heart tin for the additional $2.   As there are only 18 available, they won’t last long.

For March Stamp Camp, we are doing a new background technique called the Bubble Blowing Background!  Please don’t wear your Sunday Go To Church outfits for March Stamp Camp!  This will be a fun experience.

PARISIAN BEAUTY

Parisian Beauty is one of the new Stampin’Up sets in the latest Occasions Catalog.  I like the simple elegance of the set.  This sample was done with the sentiment AMOUR for Valentine’s Day but it could be used for other occasions.  The DSP I used was FREE!  During the Stampin’Up Sale-A-Brations event, you can choose from an assortment of free items for every $50 in product you purchase.  This is the Lily Impressions DSP.  There are impressionist style water lily images on one side of the DSP and beautiful variegated colors on the other.  I have used the pink shades on the card above and the purple tones on the card below.  The DSP is misted with water and embossed with the new Parisian Flourish 3-D embossing folder.

The images are die cut on Smoky Slate, and colored with Wink of Stella before being adhered to the card front.  Retired Petite Petal flowers are stamped and colored in Purple Posy.  Small silver metallic pearls embellish the flower centers.  Birthday wishes is the sentiment used on the purple sample.  Note the light Smoky Slate image on the envelope.  This provides a hint to the recipient as to what might be inside the envelope. 

The card theme is even carried over to the message layer.  I found using the Stamparatus was easiest in stamping the lighter image on the envelope and message layer.  There are several additional dies and stamps that come with this bundle.  If you don’t have the January-June 2020 mini occasions catalog titled HANDMADE FOR YOU, check it out here at Spring Mini catalog.  You can check out the Sale-A-Brations event at SALE-A-BRATION.
