AUTUMN LEAVES

10.28.21 Autumn Leaves frontBeauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper offers several beautiful patterns.  This watercolor motif featuring Merry Merlot, Misty Moonlight, Mossy Meadow, Bumblebee, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze and Cinnamon Cider is one of my favorites and I jumped at the chance to offer a Merry Merlot card.  However, I realize it is not a pattern everyone will like – and that’s perfectly fine as we all have different tastes.  The Seasonal Swirl Dies used here offer several wreath choices – Halloween, Autumn and Christmas.  We may see the Christmas Wreath at the December Christmas Buffet.  Two Early Espresso autumn wreaths are adhered for this card and die cut leaves are adhered with glue dots.  A small shoestring Baker’s Twine bow is adhered to the top of the wreath.  Several colors of Baker’s Twine are available.  Although GRATEFUL is the sentiment shown, other sentiments could be used.  The Banners Pick A Punch was used to form the banner shaped sentiment and Merry Merlot layer.  This card may look labor intensive, but it’s really not and the crafter can limit how many leaves are used.

10.28.21 Autumn Leaves messageThe message is stamped in Merry Merlot with verbiage from both Day of Thanks and Sparkle of the Season Stamp Sets.  The message layer and envelope are both embellished with a small stem of leaves stamped in Merry Merlot.

If you are looking for an autumn birthday card – a simple change in sentiment and message would do the trick.

One November Stamp Camp card left.

Happy 2018

Hi Crafters!  I’m back for another year of Stampin’Up and crafting with you!  We are starting the year in February – February 1, 2, and 3.  Let’s take a look at the Hedgehog Hugs card we will be doing:

01.19.18 VD Hedgehog 2New laptop for me (hand-me-down from a son) so bear with me .  This is such a cute card – much cuter than the image we see.  Done in an Early Espresso and Real Red color theme, the softly water colored hedgehog on the right is offering the other hedgehog a single flower.  The message, which is hard to read here, says “Sending hedgehugs your way…”

I have been using my Christmas present Scan’n’Cut for the cutting and it has been a learning curve.  I have since learned to add a slight margin around the images so my second sample will be a tinge different. For one thing, the stem for the flower will be a bit wider.   I used the new Stampin’Up Stampin’ Blends for my water coloring.  These are great pens for water coloring.  My mother actually wanted her own set!  The beautiful Wood Textures Designer Paper gives our hedgehogs a perfect background.  You will choose the wood pattern of your choice.  A bit of burlap ribbon and a few red glimmer hearts finish the card.

This is such a wonderful time of year for Stampin’ Up. Did you receive your new Occasions catalog?   If not, let me know, and I will send one your way or you can check it out here Occasions Catalog.  You can find our Hedgehogs in this catalog on page 38.  This is the time of year for Sale-A-Brations.  In case you have never experienced Sale-A-Brations, it is a reward promotion that takes place through March 31st, 2018.  There is a Sale-A-Bration brochure that shows the items you can choose from.  For every $50 you spend (before tax and shipping), you choose a Free product from the brochure.  New this year are even bigger rewards when you spend $100 (before tax and shipping).  If you didn’t receive this brochure, just let me know and I will send one out to you, or you can check it out here Sale-A-Bration.   You will  find the darling Party Pandas set on page 15 of this brochure.  These pandas will be featured on another of our February Valentine cards.

So mark your calendars now!  February Stamp Camp (AKA Hearts and Hedgehogs) will be held from 2-7 PM on Thursday and Friday February 1 and 2, and from 9 AM-4 PM on Saturday, February 3.  I promise you fun and 4 very different cards.  The price remains at $12 which includes and the tools and supplies and whatever water, soda and munchies you can find.  Check back tomorrow for another post that will feature the retired quilt dies and the beautiful Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (see page 19 in the new Occasions Catalogue).

Holiday Wreath

2017.07.20 Tim Holtz PoinsettiaThis simple card features a Bigz Die by Tim Holtz.  The wreath is easily die cut and the leaves pull out.  The wreath is embellished with red glimmer berries and a glimmer bow.  The easy background is designed by running Whisper White thru the Big Shot in the Brick Wall embossing folder.  The Watercolor Wash stamp is then inked in the color of your choice and stamped on the debossed side of the card stock.  This gives a quick, but very interesting, background.  The  Christmas sentiment is stamped in red and die cut with a stitched rectangle die.

2017.07.20 Tim Holtz inside poinsettiaThe message layer is stamped in green.  A red star and a deer are added for a bit of glitz.

Now you have seen August Stamp Camp cards that display coffee cups, a silhouette garden scene, pigs, and a wreath.  Which cards will you choose for August Stamp Camp?  If you really like one particular card, you might choose to do all 4 of that card – or maybe you like the different offerings, and choose to do 1 of each.  That choice is totally yours.  But you will need to let me know by July 31st which cards you choose to do.

August Stamp Camp will be held on August 3rd from 12 Noon – 6 PM, on August 4th from 2 – 6 PM, and August 5th from 9 AM – 4 PM.  The cost for any 4 cards is $12.00.  Additional cards are $2 each.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

In the Garden

2017.07.20 IN THE GARDEN

This simple but eye-catching card uses the Taylored Expressions die “In The Garden.”  The watercolor wash on glossy paper uses Soft Sky and Marina Mist.  First, the glossy cs is misted with water; then the blended inks are brushed on generously with the aqua brush.  Finally, the cs is allowed to dry and cut to size.  The die is adhered to the bottom and then to the white frame using a strong adhesive. ;

TIP:  An easy way to add glue to the back of intricate die cuts is to take put a small amount of Multipurpose Liquid Glue on your silicone craft sheet.  Use a wedge of sponge to press the glue onto the sponge.  Then press the sponge onto the back of your die cut, remove gently the sponge and voila, your die cut is ready to adhere to your card stock. The glue on your silicone craft sheet can be easily wiped off.

Clouds are stamped from the “Lift Me Up” stamp set, cut with the matching dies and popped up with dimensionals.  The knotted black satin ribbon adds interest , texture and dimension.

“In The Garden” is the second offering we have seen for my August Stamp Camp on August 3, 4, and 5.  Remember to let me know by July 31st which cards you wish to do.  You can do any 4 cards for $12.00.  Additional cards are $2.00 each.  Check back soon to see the next blog – “This Little Piggy".”
