BEAUTIFUL YOU!!!

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to get this blog to you.  When I finally sat down and fired up the computer, I couldn’t connect to the internet.  This led to a detailed phone call with my personal computer tech Larry.  He walked me thru the process of reconnecting and now I’m good to go!

Beautiful You is a gorgeous stamp set.  I concentrated on just one stamp of the beautiful 3 women.  I did 2 birthday samples and 2 for Valentine’s Day.

WP_20170118_13_14_53_ProThis was my first Beautiful You card.  We needed a birthday card for a very dear friend and this was a breeze to make.  Red and black are a natural color combo.  The woman was stamped in Black Memento on Whisper White cs and re-stamped on a scrap of red and white DSP.  I fussy cut the DSP hat and dress, added a touch of adhesive and voila – I had Beautiful You.  I am not a big fan of fussy cutting, but with the bold black lines of the stamp, cutting was truly a breeze.  The cards I made with this stamp set all feature multiple layers and a bold stripe or dotted designer paper from my archive of recent, recently retired, and old and retired DSP.  Rhinestones add a bit of bling to this stylish gal.

WP_20170118_13_39_07_ProI love the messages that come with this set.  The message used on the card front reads “Happy Birthday Gorgeous” and the sentiment reads:  “Life looks beautiful on you.” A squiggle of Real Red was stamped under the sentiment.  The new candle border punch adds instant layering and contrast.

WP_20170121_17_00_12_ProThis sample is very similar to the one above, but has a Valentine’s Day theme.  The DSP used for the dress and hat is white with tiny red hearts.  Although hard to see, white glitter washi tape was cut to match the width of the white stripes in the black and white diagonal DSP and adhered in a 2 on – 1 off pattern.  Pearls added a bit of chic style.

WP_20170121_17_13_25_ProSpectrum Noir markers were used to color the dress and hat of this Beautiful You woman.  The challenge of using non-SU markers is finding cs that matches, blends, or contrasts.  My card stock archive had some retired Hello Honey that worked well in this instance.  Black and white dotted DSP was used for the background.  Several white glimmer flowers were punched and adhered.  Pearls embellish the hat and the neckline.  A black glimmer flower with pearl center added a finishing touch to the message banner.

WP_20170121_16_52_24_ProThis Valentine’s card uses a monochromatic color scheme of Melon Mambo and retired Pretty in Pink.  The Seaside Textured Impressions Embossing Folder  provides lots of visual interest.  Instead of ovals, the DSP, stamped image and frame are die cut with Lots of Labels Framelits.  The dress is quickly colored with the dress image squiggle stamped in Melon Mambo.  Swirls of silver cording and a silver sparkly embellishment add lots of interest and bling.

We will be seeing this stamp set again in May when we honor the women in our lives.  A different Beautiful You image will be paired with the Serene Scenery DSP.

Our third project for February stamp Camp uses the Lift Me Up Stamp Set and coordinating thinlits dies.  Samples include a birthday version and one for Valentines Day.  This is a colorful card and will be the topic of my next blog post.

Don’t forget to let me know which cards you wish to do for February Stamp Camp.  $12 for any 4 cards and $2 for additional cards.  I will be giving away the Hey, Chick Stamp Set featured in the Sale-A-Brations brochure so stick some extra good luck in your pocket before you come.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Happy 2017

Hi Crafters!  For those of you who have been wondering if I had fallen off the face of the earth, I am happy to report I am alive and well.  I bet you have wondered why a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator would not send out Christmas cards to her favorite crafters!  Well…on December 8th, I was helping my 98 year-old mother put on a cardigan sweater.  I tripped on her feet and landed on the floor.  Mother reached down to help me, slipped out of her chair, and landed on her hip.  Off we went to Edwards Hospital with Mother and her now broken hip.  December 9th brought hip surgery and December 11th brought a snowy transfer to St. Patrick’s Residence in Naperville.  I was at St. Patrick’s daily until Mother was discharged the end of the month.  Although she is home now, she cannot walk independently and requires assistance with many of her activities of daily living.  So that, dear friends, is why you have not heard from me.  But life goes on, and Valentine’s Day will come in February whether we want it to or not.  So, the Flowers and Hearts Stamp Camp will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – February 2, 3 and 4.  I am changing the Thursday hours to 2 – 9 PM. Friday is also 2-9 PM.  If you need to come earlier on either of those days, please let me know.  Saturday remains the normal 9 AM – 4 PM.

Now – on to Valentine’s Day.  I have chosen 4 stamp sets for our February projects.  They can be done either for Valentine’s Day or for another occasion.  I will have a sample for each.

2017.01.15 Fiesta VD cardI absolutely love the Birthday Fiesta stamp set.  Perhaps because I was born in Tucson, I like the cacti and bright cheery colors.  I cas’d the layering colors and approximate sizes from another demonstrator but added the hearts, cactus, streamers and embossing.  The Fiesta Time Framelits Dies make cutting the llama, cacti, and flowers a cinch.  The colors of Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Emerald Envy Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise are bold and happy.  I punched assorted sized hearts in red glimmer and Melon Mambo,  Wink of Stella also provided a bit of pizzazz to the card.  But wait until you see the message layer!

2017.01.15 Fiesta VD MsgI very rarely put as much time into the sentiment layer as I did here, but I just love the cacti.  The Festive Birthday DSP provides lots of ideas.  I fell in love with the sheets featuring guitars, maracas, sombreros, peppers and piñatas.  I fussy cut the sombreros and maracas, punched a few red glimmer hearts and added a set of wiggly eyes.  Doesn’t this say Happy Valentine’s Day with a wonderful Western flair?

2017.01.15 Fiesta BD cardBut maybe you need a birthday card with a Western theme.  This sample replaces the hearts with flowers and candy dots.  The color scheme, layering and other objects remain the same.  Of course the message can be changed although the message used on the valentine sample would be appropriate.  Wink of Stella was used here and there to add a bit of glimmer and interest.

2017.01.15 Fiesta BD MsgI grabbed a picture of the sentiment layer before I mounted it in the card – hence no Melon Mambo border.  Instead of 3 cacti, we have a llama, a piñata and a single cactus.  The sombrero and piñata were fussy cut from the Festive Birthday DSP.  The flowers were stamped and die cut.  Candy dots provide interesting flower centers and eyeballs for the cactus.  A bit of Wink of Stella was added at the end.

Well, what do you think?  Isn’t this a wonderful way to start out 2017 Stamp Camps?  Lots of color and cheer with a bit of added humor.  The next card will be from the new Beautiful You set found in the new Occasions catalog.  If you did not receive your catalog, please let me know.  I will have extras at the February Stamp Camp.  You can look online at Occasions Catalog January-May 2017

And don’t forget about Sale-A-Bration!!!  This is the time of year when you can get something FREE!  Here’s the deal: for every $50 USD/$60 CAD you spend (before tax and shipping), you get a FREE Sale-A-Bration product. That means it’s the perfect time to purchase those products you’ve had your eye on while earning more products for free.  If you did not receive your Sale-A-Bration catalog, you can pick one up at February Stamp Camp, or check it out at Sale-A-Bration January – March 2017.  Check out page 11 and the Designer Series Paper made for coloring, the Taco Truck on page 12, and the ever popular Hey Chick on page 17.  There are lots of other things, too.  So now is the time to order your paper, stamp sets, and other crafting products you want!

Well, I had better get started on card #2.  If you plan on attending February Stamp Camp, let me know if you can.  And don’t forget to choose which cards you want to do.  My final ask is to let me know if you plan on coming in the 6-9 PM range on the Thursday or Friday time slots.  This helps me in planning the evening hours.

JUST FOR YOU!!!

2016-03-27 2016-03-27 001“Botanicals for You” has become a favorite of mine – especially in this Bermuda Bay, Watermelon Wonder, and Crushed Curry color scheme.  This is a very simple card with flowers, rhinestones and butterflies surrounding the Basic Black “just for you” sentiment.  The nice thing about this card is that it is perfect for birthdays – and anniversaries – and get well wishes – and any other occasion.  However, the nicest thing is that it was free – part of  the Sale-A-Bration promotion!

2016-03-27 2016-03-27 002The sentiment “…on your special day” is part of the “Botanicals for You” set and I chose to add the Happy Birthday message.  A few flowers and a butterfly coordinate the sentiment layer with the card front.  Needless to say, a few flowers stamped on the envelope will send a happy message to the recipient.

We’ve seen 3 of our 4 birthday cards for April Stamp Camp.  What will the next one look like?  Check back for the fourth blog to see what is in store!

Don’t forget – April Stamp Camp will be held on Thursday April 7th from 12:30 – 9 PM, on Friday April 8th from 2 to 9 PM, and on Saturday April 9th from 9 AM to 4 PM. Let me know if you choose to do more of 1 card and less of another.

Bloomin’ Love

_SAM4441Bloomin Love is a beautiful set.  The Bloomin’ Heart Thinlit dies are absolutely awesome (P 17, Handmade from the Heart catalog).  I did use the Precision Base Plate as this is an intricate die.  I also purchased the Big Shot Die Brush (P 10, Handmade from the Heart catalog) and it did a magnificent job of removing those teeny tiny pieces from the intricate heart die – well worth the $11 investment.  The color scheme used is Blushing Bride and Rose Red.  The new Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper provides lots of interest.  The Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder was used on the Blushing Bride background cs and 1/8” ribbon highlights every other stripe.  The banner die does not come with this set, but I had purchased the Number of Years set which includes this easy to use die.  Pearls are perfect embellishments for the die cut flowers.  1/8” punched circles embellish the centers of the small embossed flowers.

_SAM4439The alternate sample is done in Real Red and Blushing Bride.  The only difference other than the color is the ribbon which is just a tinge wider than that used in the sample above.  A single loop bow was attached and an alternate sentiment was used.  For February Stamp Camp, you can choose either the Rose Red or the Real Red.  This is a great opportunity to use the Precision Base Plate and the Big Shot Die Brush.  If you choose, you can add additional glimmer to these cards by carefully adding Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.  Once you use this awesome brush, you will agree it is the best thing since sliced cheese!  See it on page 24 in the Handmade from the Heart catalog.  If you did not receive your catalog, you can pick one up at the February Stamp Camp.  And don’t forget about Sale-A-Brations!  I will have samples of these freebies out for you to see.  Incidentally, rumor has it that Paperrose01 will be offering a discount for all February orders of at least $50 – PLUS you can choose your free Sale-A-Brations item!!!!  Yahoo!!!!!

Come to February Stamp Camp and play with some fun new products!  Wait until you see the next card – a bear in the forest!  Don’t forget – February 4th from 2 – 9 PM, February 5th from 2 – 9 PM, and February 6th from 9 AM to 4 PM!

On a personal note, I only wear my arm brace at night now!  I can pick my arm up and cut paper with no problem!  Yahoo – you have to love the little things in life!  Blessings, Rosemary – home 630/759-3089, cell 630/965-1965, paperrose01@aol.com

The Best Thing Since Sliced Cheese

Be still my heart!!!!!  I am so in LOVE!  Stampin’ Up is carrying an absolutely wonderful product – WINK OF STELLA GLITTER BRUSH.  It is simply marvelous!  Write this down:  #141897 – Wink of Stella Glitter Brush – $8.00.  I guarantee you will want to order it.  It comes in clear and gold.  I have just worked with the clear, but the gold is on its way to my messy craft room and will be here in time for February Stamp Camp.  Because I will refer to it so much, I’m going to abbreviate it to WOS (Wink of Stella).  So, you may be wondering, just what does this miracle product do????  Let’s take a look at one of the February Stamp Camp cards – Happy Home  – which coordinates with the Hearth and Home Thinlits Dies that we used in the fall:

2016.01.27 Window tree 1OK – I will admit you can’t see much of the extra glitter I added here.  I colored my tree with several shades of pink Copic Markers, added some dots of darker pink and used my WOS to glitter the entire tree.  There is a window sheet over the scene which keeps us from clearly seeing the image but gives a nice window effect.  The sky was sponged with Soft Sky and the grassy area with Wild Wasabi.  The clouds were stamped, then re-stamped on scrap paper, colored with markers, cut out and popped on with glue dots.  This gives a great 3-D effect.  I used designer discretion on all 3 cards and extended the slope with a black marker, and added extra flowers and grass.  The flowers in the window box also have WOS added and are glimmery.  NOTE – the scrap of paper on the DSP in the right lower quadrant is NOT part of the card!!!

2016 FullSizeRender In this view of  Happy Home, 2 different patterns of the Love Blossoms DSP Stack are used.  You will have the opportunity to use the DSP of your choice from this cute stack.  The tree was stamped higher on the cs and different clouds were used.  Again, you can’t grasp the glimmer on the tree, on the “love you” letters, or on the single Blushing Bride heart in the window box from WOS, but it is there!  You will be dazzled when you see the card in person.  Just make sure you do a better job than I did with the window frame covering the tree trunk!

2016.01.27 Valentine kite This view is also part of Happy Home.  I colored and used WOS on the kite, the child’s clothing, and the dog.  One of the free Sale-A-Bration items is “Sky is the Limit” and it has the “You send me soaring” message that I incorporated.  You may be able to see the glimmery shine on the Rose Red and Blushing Bride arrows.  This glimmer is from WOS.  The arrows were punched out and the WOS applied.  It dries very quickly which is helpful.

2016.01.27 Valentine msg 1 I tried to be creative with my messages and incorporate the heart theme.  These 3 sentiments were taken from old sets that were retired long, long ago.

2016.01.27 Valentine msg 2On this sentiment, the flower and part of the clothing were colored and WOS applied for interest.  The 2 DSP hearts in the lower right corner were also decorated with WOS.

2016.01.27 Real msg 3

The sentiment used on this card includes a tiny mouse holding a tiny heart and saying “Valentine (please be mine).”  The flowers on the sentiment have been colored and “glimmered” as have the hearts on the bottom right corner.

I hope you can come to our February Stamp Camp and have fun with this card and Wink of Stella. There is another view I did not do a sample for.  The image is of a grassy slope with an empty park bench and would incorporate a “missing you” sentiment.  You can create the  Happy Home card in a very simple fashion, or as elaborate as you desire!  I was happy to see Stampin’ Up come out with this stamp set that uses the Hearth and Home Thinlits dies.

The dates/times for the February Stamp Camp are 2 – 9 PM on Thursday February 4th, 2 – 9 PM on Friday February 5th, and 9 AM – 4 PM on Saturday February 6th.  Come when it is convenient for you.  If you can let me know ahead of time which date/time you might come, it is helpful, but not required.  The cost remains $12 and we will continue to make 4 cards/projects at each stamp camp.  Feel free to contact me with questions. The next card will be posted on the blog tomorrow – January 30th so make sure you check back to see what we will be doing.

Spring Easter Basket

Spring Easter Basket

What fun I am having with these springy baskets.  This new die is entitled Berry Basket Bigz L Die.  It requires your normal cutting pads and 2 pieces of 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 cs – or 1 piece of 8 1/2 X 11 cut in half.  Although there are score marks for folding, no other pads are needed.  However, because of the score lines, you are advised to only cut one piece of card stock at a time.  The die cuts your basket and trim and is so easy to use.  For the Melon Mambo basket, I also die cut DSP trim and adhered it to the mambo trim with snail.  The trim is actually attached to the basket. with 8 staples.  I embellished the two baskets shown above with the new butterfly Butterfly Basics stamp set and new Butterfly dies.  I love the laser-type cut of these new dies.  I also embellished with rhinestones, Baker’s Twine, and the tried and true Papillion Potpourri butterfly stamps and coordinating punches.  On my craft desk, I currently have baskets in Pistachio Pudding, Daffodil Delight, Bridal Pink, Wisteria Wonder and Crisp Cantaloupe – all in varying stages of completion.  But seriously – aren’t these just too cute?  And so easy to put together.  Wouldn’t this be beautiful in oranges and browns for fall – or red and green filled with cookies for Christmas?  I can think of soooooooooooo occasions for this basket!

This is our final project for the March Stamp Camp.  I hope you can make it.  A reminder of dates and times – March 5th (2 – 9 PM), 6th (2 – 9 PM) and March 7th (9 AM – 4 PM). You can come whenever it is most convenient for you. As always, all materials and supplies are covered in the $12.00 charge and we will be doing the 4 projects you have seen on the blog posts.  I am more than happy to set up an alternate time or provide a kit for you if you are unable to make it to Stamp Camp.  Don’t forget about Sale-A-Bration and your ability to choose one of the free items with a $50 purchase.

Please give me a call or drop me an e-mail if you have any questions or concerns.  Blessings, Rosemary – 630/759-3089 – paperrose01@aol.com

More Spring and Easter

Let’s take a look at another card we will be making at the March Stamp Camp:

2015-02-28 blossomsOne of my favorite color combinations is navy and yellow – or as we see here – purple and yellow.  Once upon a time, when I was a florist, spring would be marked by purple iris and yellow acacia.  We don’t see iris or acacia here, but the purple blossoms against the yellow background provides a very sharp contrast.  The name of this set is Indescribable Gift and is absolutely lovely.  The image is stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Wild Wasabi and Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities. Although you cannot tell from this picture, I re-stamped part of the image on scrap, colored one small flower and one bud , cut them out and added them as an overlay to the finished blossom stem.  This technique gives a great 3-D effect.  “Happy Easter” is stamped on the card, but any small message could be used.  The Blackberry Bliss blossoms from the Painted Blooms DSP is the perfect DSP for this card.  Finally, Daffodil Delight butterflies from the Papillion Potpourri set are added for the perfect embellishment.  Do you have Papillion Potpourri?  This set is $14.95 and provides a realistic butterfly image.  Check out the 7 different images on page 149 in the big catalog.  The matching punches are perfect for punching out and layering your butterflies.

So far, we have seen 2 of our March Stamp Camp projects.  I will tell you that the lovely Lotus Blossom set we have seen in the Sale-A-Bration mini catalog, will be featured in our next card.  Several of you have ordered the Lotus Blossom set which is a 3-step stamping process so I thought this would be a great set to use.  Check back shortly!
