PAINTED POPPIES

In my previous blog post, I mentioned that the Hibiscus was one of my favorite flowers.  Well, the Poppy is another favorite of mine!  This card was case’d from Stampitupwithjamie.com.

Painted Poppies flat and butterflySometimes you see a card that is perfect and there is no reason to make any changes.  This was almost one of those cards.  I did change the top layer from Whisper White to Very Vanilla and added the linen look with the Subtle Textured Expressions Embossing Folder (TIEF). I also changed the sentiment and how it was displayed.  I am in love with these 2 dies from Sending Flowers and incorporating them for a sentiment.

Painted Poppies glimmer and butterfly

The color combination of Grapefruit Grove, Calypso Coral, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow is extremely pleasing and denotes a peaceful feeling.  The Poppy Moments Dies are perfect for die-cutting all the pieces.  The Grapefruit Grove outline is a bit tricky to adhere so that is being die cut with Sizzix backed adhesive.  The second card sample has a bit of Wink of Stella bling and a 2-part center with a rhinestone.  By the way, did you see the butterflies?

Painted Poppies message Calypso backgroundOne of the dies that comes with the Poppy Moments Dies is a poppy pattern with the vacant portions forming the poppies.  For the message layer, a piece of Calypso Coral cs is adhered to the back of the Very Vanilla to allow the color to carry thru from the front to the back. Note the humorous message used.  This comes from the Birthday Wit set.  The Stamparatus  is used as a double stamping is needed due to the heavy black area.

Painted Poppies message green backgroundThe message layer for the second sample has the olive background peeking thru the poppy images.  Although not as colorful as the message layer above, it is still very pleasing.

This is the final card for March Stamp Camp.  We have seen daisies, tulips, hyacinths, poppies, and ladybugs – lots of spring cheer.  Please let me know what day you plan on coming and which cards you wish to do.  The dates are March 5, 6, and 7.  Everything you need to make your cards is provided including beverage and a snack.  The cost remains $14 for any 4 cards and $3 for each additional card.

In April we will have Stamp Camp on April 2, 3 and 4.  We will be making both birthday and Easter cards. Mark your calendars now!

TIMELESS TROPICAL

Is it too early to think about hibiscus on warm spring days?  Hibiscus are one of my favorite and we always have 2 plants festooning our deck from spring until frost.  In 2019, one of our Hibiscus was a tri-color and featured pink, yellow and orange blossoms!

Timeless Tropical pinkishThe Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper (DSP) is lovely and incorporated into the card in a pie-shaped wedge.  The Grapefruit Grove card base is layered with Grapefruit Grove that has a pie-shaped piece removed.  The top layer is textured with the the Subtle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF) to give the linen finish.  The two samples are slightly different in color.  The sample to the left is stamped in Lovely Lipstick and colored in Lipstick, Flamingo, Rococo Rose and So Saffron Stampin’ Blends.

Timeless Tropical LadybugThe sample to the right is stamped in Real Red and colored with Light Coral Calypso and touches of Light Real Red.  On both cards, more So Saffron was used on the plumeria and Garden Green was used to die cut the foliage.  I used the foliage for a pineapple with the Hibiscus as I felt it looked tropical.  The second sample features only only one plumeria but has a little ladybug partially tucked under a Hibiscus leaf.  Is this the one you will choose?

As a reminder, March Stamp Camp Dates and Times:  Thursday March 5th from 11am-6pm, Friday March 6th from 12Noon-6pm and Saturday March 7th from 9am-4pm.

Don’t forget about the Sale-A-Bration promotion which ends March 31st.  The second release of free items will be available on March 3, 2020.  There will be Flowering Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper, a stamp set titled Rise and Shine, a masculine stamp set titled Well Dressed, Vellum Specialty Designer Series Paper, and a stamp set titled Tags in Bloom.  As with all Sale-A-Bration items, when they are gone, they are gone.  Check out current items here  Sale-A-Bration.  On March 3, the second release items will show on that site.

Looking forward to seeing you at March Stamp!  It appears we will not have snow on those days so we can spring away with our card creations!

LITTLE LADYBUG

It’s almost spring!  March 19 is the date!  So let’s celebrate spring with ladybugs!

Ladybug, backgroundThe Little Ladybug stamp set is available thru the Sale-A-Brations promotion with a $300 product order.  The dies for the set are an add-on item which can be seen at Sale-A-Bration Coordination Products.  This is such a cute Poppy Parade card and although you can’t tell, the bottom ladybug is attached with a Wobble so she actually moves.  I buy my Wobbles from where else – Amazon!  They  add a whimsical touch. All the images are colored with Stampin’ Blends and touched with Wink of Stella.

Ladybug, background and envelope

The second sample features the top ladybug flying with a Wobble and shows a darling ladybug image on the envelope.  The sentiments are ancient but are popular every year at this time.  Did you notice the background?  We will blow bubbles to create this effect.  Check out the next post.

Ladybug message layer 2

The ladybug was featured again on the message layer.  Although adhered with a dimensional, a Wobble could have been used.  A sad note about this message layer.  The flower die has disappeared.  Norb searched on his hands and knees.  I searched in trash cans and counters but it is not to be found.  Another flower die now serves as a replacement.

Ladybug message layer 1And here we see the flower replacement for the lost die.  The stem and grass did not disappear!  Note the little flecks of red on the message layers. There also flecks of navy on the bubble background.  These flecks come from rapidly and firmly flicking a marker against the lid.  I’ll show you at March Camp.

So are you wondering when March Stamp Camp might be?  Dates and Times:  Thursday March 5th from 11am-6pm, Friday March 6th from 12Noon-6pm and Saturday March 7th from 9am-4pm.  The price remains $14 for any 4 cards and $3 for each additional card.  All supplies and tools are provided.  Drinks are in the fridge and my hubby usually has a snack of some type waiting for you.  You are welcome to bring your lunch, a snack, or a snack to share.  We are a very informal group.

Don’t forget to let me know what day you plan on coming and which cards you would like to make.  This insures the correct amount of paper is cut.

PARISIAN BEAUTY

01.31.20 Parisian Beauty PinkParisian Beauty is one of the new Stampin’Up sets in the latest Occasions Catalog.  I like the simple elegance of the set.  This sample was done with the sentiment AMOUR for Valentine’s Day but it could be used for other occasions.  The DSP I used was FREE!  During the Stampin’Up Sale-A-Brations event, you can choose from an assortment of free items for every $50 in product you purchase.  This is the Lily Impressions DSP.  There are impressionist style water lily images on one side of the DSP and beautiful variegated colors on the other.  I have used the pink shades on the card above and the purple tones on the card below.  The DSP is misted with water and embossed with the new Parisian Flourish 3-D embossing folder.

01.31.20 Parisian Beauty PurpleThe images are die cut on Smoky Slate, and colored with Wink of Stella before being adhered to the card front.  Retired Petite Petal flowers are stamped and colored in Purple Posy.  Small silver metallic pearls embellish the flower centers.  Birthday wishes is the sentiment used on the purple sample.  Note the light Smoky Slate image on the envelope.  This provides a hint to the recipient as to what might be inside the envelope.

01.31.20 Parisian Beauty Message

The card theme is even carried over to the message layer.  I found using the Stamparatus was easiest in stamping the lighter image on the envelope and message layer.  There are several additional dies and stamps that come with this bundle.  If you don’t have the January-June 2020 mini occasions catalog titled HANDMADE FOR YOU, check it out here at Spring Mini catalog.  You can check out the Sale-A-Brations event at SALE-A-BRATION

We’ve seen the 4 card projects for February Stamp Camp.  There is still one post to go – an add-on project if you are interested.  That will be the last post for February Stamp Camp.  Remember – Thursday 2/6 from 11am – 6pm, Friday 2/7 from 12N – 6pm and Saturday 2/8 from 9am – 4pm.  Let me know what day you would like to come and which cards you want to make.  Come when it is most convenient for you.

See you in the next post, Rosemary – (h)630.759.3089 – (c/t)630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

BEE MINE

01.31.20 Be MineBee Mine comes from the new Honey Bee stamp set.  The gorgeous designer paper is FREE with the current Sale-A-Brations special.  When you purchase at least $50 in product, this Golden Honey DSP is one of the free items you can choose from.

I thought this would be a cute card to do for Valentine’s Day although most sentiments would be appropriate.  Gold metallic foil is perfect for die-cutting the honeycomb shape.  Gold shimmer ribbon attaches the DSP to the Real Red frame and is tied in a shoestring bow.  The bees are stamped in black and colored in Crushed Curry and Wink of Stella.

01.31.20 Bee MineThe sample above features the sentiment BE MINE stamped  in red and punched out with the triple banner punch.  The sample to the right features the BEE MINE sentiment which is die-cut with small Sizzix dies on adhesive backed cs and adhered to a punched banner.  Small hearts and the requisite butterfly are die cut and added to the card front.   The message layer is embellished with more bees – stamped and die cut.

As a reminder, February Stamp Camp is Thursday February 6th from 11 am – 6 pm, Friday February 7th from 12 N – 6 pm, and Saturday February 8th from 9 am – 4 pm.  Come when you can and stay as long as you want.  Please let me know what day you plan on stopping by and what cards you choose to make.

LASTING LILY

The Paper Rose theme for April is “Welcome Spring” and this card certainly looks like spring!  “Lasting Lily” is one of the new “DISTINKTIVE” stamps from Stampin’Up.

“DISTINKTIVE” stamps give you photo-realistic images with just one stamp. They have a special texture that gives added depth and dimension in a single step. These stamps are available only from Stampin’ Up! and are made using a patent-pending process.  DISTINKTIVE stamps are available in red rubber and photopolymer; Paper Pumpkin’s April kit includes photopolymer stamps.  Shop “DISTINKTIVE” stamps in the online store by searching “DISTINKTIVE,” or look for the “DISTINKTIVE” icon in Stampin’ Up! catalogs.

20190318_194432761_iOSThis lovely card features an open lily and a bud stamped in Daffodil Delight.  Can you see the definition in the lily and in the Granny Apple Green leaves? I purchased the framelits for Lasting Lily before they sold out.  Having the abiity to die cut the images is something I enjoy.  However, these would be very simple to fussy cut.  This set is part of Sale-A-Brations and will be gone after March 31st.  I chose to make a frame to showcase the lilies.  I used the stitched rectangular dies to cut the shape and then ran the frame thru the Big Shot with the Country Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The die cut lily images were adhered to 5 X 3 3/4” Whisper White cs and the frame was adhered over the art work with SU Foam Adhesive Strips.  A butterfly from the Sale-A-Bration Botanical Butterfly was added to provide eye appeal.  Although this makes a perfect sympathy card, I have chosen to use my Lasting Lily card for Easter.  I love the detail this set provides and I look forward to stamping more “distinctive” stamps in the future.

The main Stampin’Up catalog is thru June 3, 2019.  As the 2017-2019 In Colors will retire at that time, I would suggest you purchase any card stock, inks, embellishments in these colors now.  As in the past, these retiring colors tend to sell out before the retirement date and then it is too late.  The smaller Occasions Catalog also retires June 3rd.  I think the “Tea Together” stamp set is carrying over as is the butterfly Duet Punch and the Cake Builder Punch.  Other items may sell out before June 3rd so if there is something you feel would enhance your craft library, now is the time to purchase it.

03.25.19 InColors

Looking forward to seeing you on April 4th, 5th and/or 6th!  Blessings, Rosemary – (home)630.759.3089 – (cell)630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

COUNTRY FLORAL

This is a super easy card that allows the embossing folder to do all the work!!!03.25.19 Country Floral rhinestone

The Country Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (available thru Sale-A-Brations) provides the texture for an absolutely beautiful card.  One thing I noted when working with this folder is that the embossed cs layer shrinks in length a bit after running thru the Big Shot.  Adding 1/16” to the cs length when cutting compensates for the loss.

We designed this card simply – adding rhinestones or pearls, a sentiment framed in Gorgeous Grape, and a small bow.  The frame for the sentiment is formed by punching or die cutting the same shape as the sentiment, cutting it in half lengthwise, and adhering it to the sentiment so that the color shows slightly on both the top and the bottom.  All label punches or dies can provide this frame effect by cutting the frame piece in half so that it will overhang the sentiment.

imageThe sample above shows the finished card with rhinestones.  The sample to the right shows the finished card embellished with pearls.  Which one embellishment would you like to do?

I have seen this embossing folder used many ways – embossed on white cs and with the flowers colored using Stampin’ Blends, inking the embossing folder so the embossed and debossed areas contrast, using only small portions of the embossed folder on a card.  With our Lasting Lily card, we are going to use the Country Floral embossing folder to make a lovely frame.

April Stamp Camp (can you believe it is almost April?) is being held on Thursday April 4th from 12-6 pm, Friday April 5th from 2-6 PM, and Saturday April 6th from 9 am-4pm.  If you have a conflict with these times/dates, please let me know and I will find a date/time that works for you.  The cost for Stamp Camp is $14 for 4 cards.  If you wish to make additional cards, the cost is $3 each.

“MAGIC” BUTTERFLY

02.24.19 pull thru whiteThe “Springtime Impressions” Thinlits Dies feature 3 great dies.  My favorite is the beautiful butterfly we see in this sample.  The card starts with a base of Rich Razzleberry and a layer of Flirty Flamingo that is embossed with a retired butterfly embossing folder.  A strip of retired “Sweet Soiree” Designer Series Paper (DSP) embellishes the left side of the Flirty Flamingo.  Silver foil is prominent in this DSP so the strip embellishment is highlighted with a strip of silver.  The butterfly is die cut in the same DSP and is layered on a Rich Razzleberry die cut matching butterfly.  This gives greater depth to the image.

02.24.19 pull thru peachA banner shape is die cut in the middle of the card front and the 2-layer butterfly is adhered to the message layer.  This allows the butterfly freedom to “fly” from the top card layer to the message layer (see picture below).  A sentiment is stamped in Rich Razzleberry on white and die cut in an oval shape.  A die cut Rich Razzleberry oval frames the sentiment.  Although the 2 samples are very similar, the top sample shows the butterfly adhered to the white message layer.  The sample to the right shows the butterfly adhered to Flirty Flamingo.  02.24.19 pull thru on peach

A Flirty Flamingo scalloped oval is adhered strongly to the message layer.  This allows the Flirty Flamingo top card layer to maintain the unbroken color which is pleasing to the eye.  However, this leaves an oval in the middle of the message layer which leaves little room for a message.  In addition, it is difficult to center the oval.  The choice is yours – to add the Flirty Flamingo oval to the message layer or to let the white show thru.  The recipient will love the card either way.  Note the use of pearls highlighting the  spine of the butterfly.

02.24.19 pulling thruThis picture shows the butterfly “flying” from the front of the card to the message layer.  The butterfly doesn’t require assistance when flying to the message layer.  However, assistance is needed to bring the wings together when the butterfly “flies” from the message layer to the card front.

We have now seen 4 butterfly cards for our Bunches of Butterflies March Stamp Camp.  Butterflies and spring are quickly approaching.  These cards give us a head start in celebrating the upcoming days with our friends and relatives.

Reminders:

March Stamp Camp is March 7th from 12N – 6 pm. March 8th from 2 pm – 6 pm, and March 9th from 9 am – 4 pm.  If you have a date/time conflict, please let me know and we can set up an alternate time.  The cost is $14 and includes everything you will need to make your Bunches of Butterflies.  Additional cards are $3.00 each.

Sale-A-Bration continues until March 31st.  A second release is now available with Sale-A-Bration. Items are selling out quickly.   You can see all the available Sale-A-Bration products at 2019 Sale-A-Brations.

Finally, I am discounting all SU paper products thru February 28th.  This is a great chance to purchase some of the beautiful designer papers and the basic colors.  You can never have too much Whisper White cs!

Please let me know which cards you wish to do.  Many of you told me at the February Stamp Camp but the paper I had written this information  mysteriously vanished.  I want you to make as many cards as you wish of the designs you like the best.

Blessings, Rosemary – (home)630.759.3089 – (cell)630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

ORIGAMI FRAMED BUTTERFLY (case’d from Cindy Brumbaugh)

01.24.19 butterfly framedOrigami is all about folds and that is exactly what we see in this cheery  Daffodil Delight card highlighted with matching gingham DSP and butterflies.  I have admired this frame technique for several years, but somehow could never figure it out.  I case’d the card from Cindy Brumbaugh who gave excellent instructions which I will share with you at March Stamp Camp.  The origami frame features a butterfly from the Botanical Butterfly DSP which is free with a $50 SU purchase from Sale-A-Brations before March 31.  This beautiful DSP has several butterfly sizes.  Note the small butterflies fluttering around the sentiment. The butterflies were punched out with the Butterfly Duet Punch (currently on backorder.)  Note the antennae on all the butterflies – a secret I will share at March Stamp Camp.

This is the third card from Bunches of Butterflies.  This butterfly Stamp Camp is being held on March 7th from 12N – 6 pm. March 8th from 2 pm – 6 pm, and March 9th from 9 am – 4 pm.  If you have a date/time conflict, please let me know and we can set up an alternate time.  The cost is $14 and includes everything you will need to make your Bunches of Butterflies

Remember that Sale-A-Brations ends March 31st.  There are some really nice offerings available thru this special promotion.  Check them out at  2019 Sale-A-Bration.  And don’t forget that I am offering a 20% discount on all SU paper products thru the end of February.  Hope to see you at March Stamp Camp

Blessings, Rosemary – (home)630.759.3089 – (cell)630.965.1965 – paperrose01@aol.com

BUTTERFLY NOTE CARD (case’d from Lisa Curcio)

02.24.19 butterfly envelopeI love this envelope-style butterfly card.  The beautiful background paper is the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (DSP).  This 12 sheet, 12 X 12 package contains 2 each of 6 double-sided designs and is only available with the Sale-A-Brations special.  If you purchase $50 of SU products before March 31st, this beautiful paper could be yours!  The DSP is slit in the center and then folded back as shown.  This is layered onto Whisper White DSP and then onto the Grapefruit Grove card.  The DSP features beautiful butterflies that coordinate with the Butterfly Duet Punch (on backorder).  I spent a pleasant afternoon punching out both larger and smaller butterflies to use on our cards.  The sample features a blue scallop oval layered with a black oval although any color scallop oval can be used.  The butterfly is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I have even put black antennae on the butterflies and will be happy to share my secret at March Stamp Camp.

Is this a card you would like to make?  Let me know and I will make sure to include it in your kit.  I know I asked folks at February Stamp Camp which cards they wanted to make, but unfortunately, I lost the list!

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  I look forward to seeing you at our Bunches of Butterflies Stamp Camp
