TIDINGS OF CHRISTMAS

In case you are wondering why I keep changing font sizes, I’m trying to adjust the type size to stay within the image area.

As you know, Stamp Camps from August thru November will feature at least one holiday card.  For August Stamp Camp, we have Tidings of Christmas.

07.27.21 August Christmas CardThis card comes from the Tidings & Trimmings Bundle found on page 89 in the annual catalog.  The Tidings of Christmas DSP used here is 15% off thru July – see it on page 133 of the annual catalog.  I chose a red and green color scheme for this holiday card – actually it’s Real Red, with the new Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent.  The new 3/8” Open Weave Ribbon is wonderful to work with.  Soft Succulent ribbon is used here.  The cute stockings are stamped in Evergreen and Red.  Stampin’Up has “Jolly Felt” that will be available for Purchase in August.  As I am not the most patient crafter, I dug into my archives and found some inexpensive red and white felt which die cut easily.  The bottom portion of the felt stocking was trimmed off and voila – a felt cuff appeared.  A stem of silver metallic berries was added to embellish each stocking.

A good way to have handmade Christmas cards ready for December mailing is to make 4 Stamp Camp Christmas cards each month.  This technique is used by several of our crafters.

Please let me know which day you plan on attending for August Stamp Camp and which cards you plan on making.  You know my plea – the sooner you can let me know your selected cards, the easier you make my life.

AND REMEMBER – THE SWEET ICE CREAM CARD MEANS STAMP CAMP ICE CREAM – even if you don’t make the ice cream card!  Come and enjoy!

HYDRANGEA HAVEN

If you’ve ever been in my backyard, you know how much we love hydrangeas.  I’ve never counted, but I’m sure we have at least 10 hydrangea plants.  Perhaps that is why I am so fond of Hydrangea Haven– a two fold card.

07.27.21 Hydrangea Haven Full Card The pastel Highland Heather, Balmy Blue and Purple Posy are such soothing colors.  Even combined with Misty Moonlight and Gorgeous Grape, the overall effect is very peaceful.

07.27.21 Hydrangea openingIf you open the smaller top layer card and pull the top flap down, this image is what you see.  The beautiful Hydrangea Haven set is found on page 109 of the annual catalog and can be purchased as a stamp set and dies for a 10% discount.  Although there are several sentiment choices, I thought “To an incredible woman” was very special.  I’m sure you personally know many incredible women.

07.27.21 Hydrangea totally openWhen you open the “second fold” of the card, you find the message layer.  This card could be even used as a sympathy card – but without the sentiment used on the images above.  If you choose to make your card like mine, I would not encourage making multiples unless you don’t add as many hydrangea florets as shown below.

07.27.21 Hydrangea flower imageThe background of this flower image was stamped in Misty Moonlight and Highland Heather single and multiple florets.   Upon die cutting, small petals form which are pushed up with tweezers, a toothpick or the Take Your Pick Tool, There is a wonderful die that cuts out 9 florets at once.  This image has approximately 11 vellum and 12 Purple Posy florets that were folded up and adhered into the bottom layer petals. Although this technique appears complicated, once you start, the flower goes together quickly.  In fact, the flower is attractive even without the added florets shown here.

Isn’t this a lovely card?  And perfect for absolutely any occasion!

Don’t forget to let me know which day you plan on attending and what cards you want to make – $14 for any 4 cards and $3 for each additional card.  August Stamp Camp will be held on Thursday August 5 from 10 am – 4 pm, Friday August 6 from 10am – 4 pm, and Saturday August 7 from 9 am – 2:30 pm.  Please note the time on Saturday.

SWEET ICE CREAM

Sweet Ice cream is a fun card and perfect for our hot summer weather.  However, it makes me hungry for an ice cream cone!

07.27.21 Ice Cream Card Bermuda“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream”  This sweet set is current and found on page 32 of the annual catalog.  The set coordinates with the Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch found on page 149.

07.27.21 Ice Cream BermudaI chose to use Bermuda Bay as my highlight color for this first sample.  I love the colors in the scoops of ice cream and they are loaded into my favorite waffle cones.  The strip of blackberry bliss, the ice cream scoops and the waffle cone are all compliments of the Ice Cream Corner DSP.  Although the DSP retired on May 1, the scoops and cones stamp nicely and have the variation seen in the DSP.

07.27.21 Ice Cream Card BlackberryThe second sample features Blackberry Bliss as the highlighted color.  The stamped Happy Birthday is stamped on a tag as I dripped water on the original stamping.  Aren’t you starting to thing about blueberry and pistachio ice cream?

07.27.21 Ice Cream Message BlackberryI will admit I was a little carried away with the sprinkles stamp!  Much more controlled on my first sample message.  Although hard to see, the card fronts are embellished with 3 rhinestones.  The message used “with sprinkles on top” is appropriate for many occasions and Happy Birthday, Thinking of You, etc. could also be added.  This would be a great card for a guy or a child.

Stay tune for hydrangeas!

August Stamp Camp–Welcoming Window–resending

TRUE CONFESSION:  I don’t know which card from August Stamp Camp that I like the best.  I usually have a favorite – but not this month!  Let’s start with WELCOMING WINDOW!

07.27.21 Welcoming Window card PoppyThis darling set is on page 15 of the current annual catalog.  The dies are great and emboss as they cut leaving nicely textured wood images.  I cased this card from another Stampin’Up demonstrator – Cindy Lee Bee Designs – as I fell in love with the curtain idea.

07.27.21 Welcoming Window msg PoppyMy colors are Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Poppy Parade.  The curtains are actually a 1 1/2 X 1 1/2 square of leftover Plaid Tidings DSP from 2020 punched with a scallop edge.  The Brick and Mortar 3D Embossing Folder adds wonderful texture.  A Cinnamon Cider flower pot boasts a Poppy Parade plant on the message layer.

07.27.21 Welcoming Window card CobblerThe second sample includes Cherry Cobbler curtains and flowers.  You can choose the pattern and flower/curtain color of your choice.  The flowers are 2-step stamping.  I haven’t decided if its easier to stamp the flowers and then the greenery or vice versa.

07.27.21 Welcoming Window msg CobblerA cute pitcher holds a flower bouquet on the message layer.  The Stamp Set/Die Bundle includes several flower pot sizes as well as this darling pitcher.

August Stamp Camp will be held on Thursday August 5 from 10 am – 4 pm, Friday August 6 from 10am – 4 pm, and Saturday August 7 from 9 am – 2:30 pm.  Please note the time on Saturday as we have a conflicting engagement.
